May I recreate Simba? I think that it would be a great tool, but I see that it's going in the wrong direction. It can be more efficient and reliable.

It's opensource for a reason? Go ahead :)!

You can do anything you want with simba as long as it follows the GPL license.
Why not just contribute your code and ideas toward development of the current Simba?

It is open source, so as long as you follow GPL it's fine. But why make your own fork instead of making bugfixes/patches and committing them to Git/etc?

No no no, Timer would waste all the time completely rewriting it so he could make it closed source.
What about it is going in the wrong direction?

Like they said, it's completely fine, as long as you follow the license.
Really, if you're going to completely recreate it, using different methods, not using Simba's source code, or anything like that, you don't even need to follow GPL. You can use whatever license you want, because it would be a new thing. (But still keep it open with GPL.)
;) You should talk to me about it. I've been thinking about this too, so maybe we could work together/bounce ideas off each other.
