Weird update..

Runescape just updated in world 145 only… I was botting soulwars then it said 9 minutes till update.. I waited the 9 minutes, couldnt log in, I restarted the RSBot but the hooks weren't outdated.. wtf? I logged back into world 145 and there were only 194 people online in this world (checked through world select tab in the lobby) :S

All the other guys logged back in and started asking wth the update was and some people were saying it only happened to this world..

Can someone explain how the hell this happened to only a single world cuz world 2 was still full, world 131 still had 1481 people, all other worlds had people but soulwars in world 145 was empty.. and hooks did not change at all because the bot still worked like it did exactly before the update. Still botting there but its weird so I just want a sort of theory or explanation I guess :S Anyone else experience this before and does anyone have any idea what changed? was it a soulwars update or something?

I suppose they could've just done some work on the server. They have servers all over the world, so it's not shocking to me that only one world would go down. It happens a decent amount where a world or five will be down but no others, just because the server the world is hosted on is down for whatever reason.

Maybe they just had the system update message because so people could do what they needed to do to not just die or lose stuff or whatever.

Nothing odd, in my opinion.

Actually, since it was a soulwars world (unofficial?), maybe they're making some changes to that world specifically, which would make sense. No need to have every world down if only a world or two are getting worked on.

Updates are not always client sided ;)

Pfft, seems logical. Maybe their updating their bot detection on that server/world. Since everyone soul wars bots now.

If you've done the work, why not apply it to EVERY server?

The "update" could be something as simple as a non-runescape-specific software/hardware/whatever update on that specific server. They could be using that generic "update" message to gracefully kick people off to do whatever they need to do.

Maybe thier using that server as a test dummy.

since that server is heavily botted, and maybe for all we know it was a "bot detection" update, maybe they want to see how effective it is first before applying to every server.

Maybe they want to see if its stable and thier will be no downtime or random crashes, and THEN apply it to every server.

Im sure they have a test server, and they test it thier first, then they apply it slowly into the game.

Just a theory.

Pretty easy to test, just run 24/7 on that would and see if you get banned. I'm sure they would cover that if they made any bot detection.

You can't bot 24/7 anymore. Kicks you off after six hours, doesn't it?

Also, I still think it was just a hardware/software update relating to the server.

Wtf? really? I have been botting and havent noticed.. weird. Does srl have a failsafe for that?

I don't even have Java installed, so that's just from what I've heard from Home (he posted it on a thread in members I think).

Yes it auto logs you off every 6 hours.. no there isnt a fail safe the failsafe is implemented by the user who uses things such as:

if not R_LoggedIn then LoginPlayer or if R_LobbyScreen then LeaveLobby & LoginPlayer.. I had to use leavelobby first because LoginPlayer doesn't log you in from the lobby.. well for me.

Anyway @ Everyone: Thanks for the replies.. it kinda worried me lol. Was botting on main thats y :D

Dude that little bit of info about using LeaveLobby first would have saved hundreds of logout problems. It took me forever to find a workaround.

most scripts did have failsafes already in case of lagg spikes etc. (most of Harry's do I am pretty sure) other than that I do not know, I need to start testing people scripts again :D

I make my scripts always log out every 30 minutes. Prevents randoms, bans, and things like this too.
Also multiplayer.

Thats what i thought, multiplayer, switching after ever so many mins to next player active normaly keeps randoms low and the chances of getting caught are lower.

I was just wondering if there was a way of logging into the best world for the bots being used. Like say find the world with the best ping or closest server ?
