I don't about you guys but i sometimes use my itouch to view forums online and its a pain for the pages to load up, so while i was looking at another forum, i found tapatalk(http://www.tapatalk.com/). I used the app and the loading time was waaaaaay faster with it, was wondering if people would actually use it if implemented(also requesting forum owner(s) if he/she could try to implement it).

E: If this is the wrong section for this could a mod/admin please move it.

Try disabling image loading. it should speed up loading times tremendously.

If I had the money to pay for it, then i'd try it out :)

I agree though that the regular forums are very mobile unfriendly (I believe some pages are even bigger than 1MB :(). Turning off image loading is a workaround, but it isn't very convenient.

TapaTalk is better though and more secure.

I don't see why it matters if people have to pay for TapaTalk, they already PAY for their phone(thats not free or opensource lmao).

Second, I'm not a fan of making people pay for applications, even though it's sometimes required. Nevertheless, I certainly won't force people to buy an application to view the forum ``properly''. Which is really just an illusion. Install firefox and it'll be viewable just fine.

Ease of use is lacking. Even with an iPhone/iTouch's pinch to zoom feature it is still kind of a pain…

Ok, just to put everyone back on the topic, this thread is about making the forums easier(friendlier?) to browse on mobile devices. This is not about forcing people to buy something nor is it about free software. I just wanted to know if this was something under construction because its already been 2 years since fawki's post about portable srl.

It isn't that bad, my Iphone 4s, it isn't that bad… only problem is me having to zoom in to click specific stuff.

Yeah, it's annoying, but not unusable on an iPhone. Having a mobile skin, or an app would be beneficial. I'm all for it, but the admins are busy people, so i don't mind either way.

Fourm works fine on my blackberry :P

I voted yes on the proviso that they can get the free version, SRL has better ways to spend $800

Why not just optimize this site, the background is an image turn it in css3 runs much much faster.
