Speed Scripting Competition!

It's just been an idea in the back of my head, but everything has to start with a thought or an idea.

Basically, there is an arranged date/time and you then have XYZ amount of hours to code a script, but the script idea is released when the timer starts, meaning people have to start coding from then.

eg;

I arrange one of these competitions for 16:00 (GMT +0) for the 24/4/11. People say that they would like to enter.
Then at 16:00, I will release the script theme/idea and people will have say, 10 hours to code for this one script, from scratch. Then they must all be submitted when the time is up, up to like 20 minutes from when the time is up. They are then judged, and the winner gets a prize.

A pretty good idea, but what about people whose timezone is different? Perhaps make it like 48hrs or something?

Well lets say there's going to be a 24 hour time limit, that should give a fair 8-16 hours per person, right?

like the 48 hour game jam things that indie game devs do. I like the idea.

Assuming anyone participating never has anything to do. I think you'd be better off going with 48 hours.

Also, are you waiting for someones approval on this or just seeing if the community would participate? because you can start one at any point and just get some people going with it. There is no need for an admin or mod to be in charge of it, it just wouldn't be an 'official' SRL competition is all.

I think he needs mods/admins approval for this:
They are then judged, and the winner gets a prize.

To have an actual scripting competition, yes, but this is a somewhat different concept and I don't see this becoming an 'official' competition. Though, it would be interesting and some fun for those who have time to participate.

I would participate! You should wait until a weekend to start it though.

I think it should be colour only, reflection is abit boring and doesn't take as much skill :)
