I remember SCAR with SRL being the beacon in runescape botting. But since them it seems that many other technologies have developed, namely reflection. Seems like RSBot is leading the way.

Hows the SCAR community going?

And whats with this whole SCAR vs. SIMBA thing going on? Is SIMBA supposed to eventually supersede SCAR? Is one of them clearly superior?

Besides all that, just saying hi.

Hi.

SUP MATE WELCOME BACK!

Powerbot is now RSBot
RSBUDDY is similar to Powerbot

SCAR is still in development by Freddy1990, most scripts now SIMBA

SIMBA is SCAR but better and Open Source

:D

From what I've seen, SIMBA looks flat-out better. More development and even more features. Does this mean SCAR is going to be phased out sooner or later? If so, I'll miss it :(

Looks like now that free trade is back and many autoers are returning, powerbot.org is attracting all the attention and poor SRL gets no love.:D

There's been quite a few topics relating to the whole Scar / Simba topic. You can probably find alot more details on these threads. I think the biggie is Simba is open-source and actively being developed. Soon, SRL will be for Simba only, so if you're shooting for a program to work with, might I give my recommendation twords Simba. ;)

Yeah from reading around here SIMBA looks like a decent successor. SCAR has served it's purpose well for many years, and one thing i really don't want to see is the SRL community attempt to support both.

In the end, Simba does beat Scar. Maybe that's the way it should be.

As you say RSbot may be leading the way but Simba/SCAR is original and unique. the way we use reflection and our way of reading the client is way different to how RSBot Read's/hacks the client. I think IMO Simba and SCAR are more flexible. concerning Simba and SCAR, Simba is open source as already been stated whereas SCAR isn't. RSBot is similar. the problem with the whole open source thing is the trust issue. i think SCAR is being phased out, when was the last time someone made a script is SCAR?
Edit :
Open Source : Good Trust =]
Closed Source : Bad Trust =[

This is because Freddy1990 is the only one working with scar, he's the only one with it's source. (Atleast this is from what I've heard) Simba, on the other hand, has an active development team behind it, and it's all out there in the open for anyone to work on if they like.

That's probably what sets this community apart from others, everything here is open-source and we all share our work openly and work together on projects. In my opinion, it's the way everyone should be.

Iirc, Freddy1990 is still developing SCAR and adding new features, but he is the only one. SCAR won't be of much use for botting unless your using a different library than SRL (there's RRL, but that's reflection based).

So as the others have said above me, it's a good idea to switch over to Simba now.

*Everything what everyone else has said above about SRL/SCAR/Simba*

Welcome back!
