Maybe it's just the people on runescape/runescape related forums, but i'm really frustrated with the amount of fucking idiots and disrespectful jerks that I've been running into.

My boyfriend's parents make him go to counselling. I doubt any of the 10 year olds of Runescape can match that.

Almost all the players on Runescape, don't have a college or high school degree..

Then again, some of the Mods are pretty stupid too.

You just need to get a GF that is smarter than you so you can feel like everyone else or equivalent.

Thats what I did, my gf makes me feel like a idiot with her 3.87 GPA against my 3.25

Let's keep ourselves closed off from the other communities then. SRL I've found to have very intelligent, mature people… I'm sure as you all know this isn't something you find every day. I'm proud to be a part of it. So you're right about the world, but there's not a whole lot you can do about them.

Edit: I have a strong belief religions are a main reason for this, they always seem the be the core problem-starter… Think of what the world would be if we didn't rely on how people tell us to live and what to believe, and actually we all lived our own lives and believe from what we experience on our own.

My problem with that is that it's simply not true. Yes, some things happen because of religion. But it's not the religions' fault; we have a natural tendency to crave conflict. We just use things that are deemed okay to take express those things - religion, politics, dating, law, ethnicity and the like.

Sythe is far worse, most of my powerbot trades have gone ok.

This topic was more directed at people on runescape, not other forums. It was directed at rushers who korasi you after you get 20m loot (happened to me today THREE TIMES (on 20m loot, other times were dharok sets). Then there are people who sneak "no summoning" on you after the 3rd time you duel (The guy lost 4m to me twice in a row, then rematched me for 10m and snuck on summoning, I figured he was trustworthy at that point. Nope. (I know, that one was my own fault)). The people who don't bless the gravestones of those who die in their cc at bandos god wars (didn't happen to me, but these guys looted 2 peoples graves while I was with them). The people who say "Barrowing [insert item name]", then persist to say 'barrow' after you try and correct them. The people who say 'p/h'; isn't that redundant? It's all this stupid shit I see people doing constantly that just makes me angry.

This is exactly why I don't go on runescape ever anymore.

And Java.

And then they all go on 4chan but only say stupid memes and it's ridiculous.

It's not common sense to you, but to the mass it is common sense, as it's common among them. It's all relative. ;)

To be honest, I think there is something psychologically wrong with 'almost' all the people who play RS full on legit. No offense here.
Most of the time it's just small things like low self esteem, but in other cases people have major social problems or feel depressed and what not. I'm not saying that this goes for all people, but in the time that I played RS on a daily hardcore basis (around 3 years) I figured out that all the people I met who played on a regular basis all had some problems going on.
I've met depressed people, people who see RS as their second world, pathological liars, social phobiacs, people who generally CAN'T be trusted and even pedophiles.
I knew a guy who faked his own death to everyone he knew in game. Someone i knew IRL had a friend for over THREE years on RS who suddenly decided to scam him for his blue phat. Also another person had faked their gender for a full on two years.
And that's just 3 examples from many fucked up situations that happen in this game.
I think the reason why so called 'normal' people don't swarm this game is because they have better things to do in life. Unless you are trying to avoid real life, why would you even legitly play this game?
I'm pretty sure this stuff doesn't just happen on RS, but all over the internet.
People can be whoever they want and no one can really harm them in most cases. They're safe behind a computer screen and the 'X' button is always within reach.

I don't know why, but RS just seems to attract more idiots than any other game.

Hmm I don't agree with you:p I sometimes get to playing runescape legit (although it is in periods) and i can't think of a problem in my life :p I've got a great girlfriend great friends alot of stuff to do in real life but sometimes i just like to play a game;) Sometimes that is runescape and sometimes that's a newly released pc game.
But i must say i never chat(other than to an irl friend who sometimes plays rs too) or socialize on runescape so maybe that's the difference.

Like I mentioned in my other post, I quit RS about 4 years ago but the 3 years before that I used to play this game pretty much all the time. The people I described are the people I personally came across in these 3 years, so it doesn't mean the whole "world" of RS is like that.. it's just something I observed :P

Yes i get your point:) obviously a lot of socially impaired people in all mmorpgs XD but i was just sharing my point of view. Because there are alot of players on rs that don't chat with others in game :p

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you guys that it gets better when you get older.




But I won't, because it doesn't. It really doesn't. Maybe even worse, because people don't have the excuse of being young.

This is why anonymity is important, in my opinion. It gives people a place to do what they so please however they think they should. It's brilliant. The problem is when people start to lose sight of the real world and its problems and its values. And you don't really have any way of knowing if they do lose sight.

Playing a game all day every day isn't anything new. Most teenagers in developed countries do it. It just isn't usually RS. It's other games or other activities that they can express themselves. Even Facebook can be an outlet to express yourself more than in real life, because it's not personal. Just like texting and emails and IMing can as well. I think technology gives us the privilege of being able to take a step back and asses and evaluate the situation at hand, and then respond accordingly, which is amazing.

The problem is, people don't see it as a privilege. They see it as something that is what they do. We bitch and moan (we being teenagers, and even adults and children) when the Internet is going a bit slow, or a website is down or whatever. It's ridiculous. It's amazing that we even have such technology to talk to so many people from all around the world.

I dunno. My counselor tells me a lot of times that texting and IMing and all this is bad because facial gestures are important for communication, but I disagree. I think we're changing to where face time isn't very important. We're developing entirely different languages just to talk on the Internet, without talking to someone face to face. It's incredible.

And expressing yourself in all of those ways or straight up lying about yourself is something that people do. It may be a psychological problem, but I don't think it's a human problem, as everyone is curious. It's a human aspect, but in a "perfect" world, it may be considered a "problem."
