How Long have You Played Runescape?
2 Year(s)

Are you affilated in anyway with Jagex LTD?
No

Were you Referred to SRL?

What is your general programming knowledge?
Well for starters I know Java, some C++, Python, Psuedocode (:3), I suppose know I also know some Pascal.

Hells yeah for almost mastering Psuedocode?

Are you a member of any other communities?
I'm semi-active at;

www.Techious.com

Tell us about yourself…
From: HarryJames
So my name's Harry, which you could probably have guessed. I'm 16, soon to be 17 and I do a lot of coding and a fair bit of gaming when I'm not in 6thForm. Even when I'm in 6thForm I do some coding, cause I'm sad like that.

Runescape is not a big interest of mine, however developing bots to get past the challenges they present is. I like doing coding challenges. Often, when learning a new language I will complete around 10 of these challenges (atleast) before trying something of my own.

No from me. Lack of fail safes. It looks like your main loop is destined for an infinite loop :p

pyroryan

2011-03-27 16:45:37

Like what TomTuff said, it needs more failsafes. For example in the function GetSomeWood, you could have added a failsafe based on IDs to determine if the tree was chopped down but you were still animating.
Sorry, but my vote is no.

Putnam

2011-03-27 16:59:10

I'll hold off on voting for now. You have a great attitude (at least better than some other people who have applied), and I know that you're willing and able to learn. In the future use more failsafes, and take as much advice as you can. Glancing at your code it's okay (needs failsafes, some irrelevant code), but there's a few lines of code you could remove. For example, your reflection walking isn't that great, and I'd recommend WebWalking. Just implement peoples suggestions into your script, and you'll be sure to get in next time you apply.

I like your attitude, and I think you can do a lot better than this. The application script is something you should work hard on, and it's supposed to prove how capable you are of making great advanced, efficient and functioning scripts.

There is a lot of mess in your script, mostly commented code you decided not to use. You should remove this as it just doesn't look good.

I'm trying to find any advanced code in your script, but it's all too simple. While I think reflection is great for most scripts, in the application script you should use colour as that is harder and takes more skills to master. Also the lack of failsafes as TomTuff said is a really big flaw.

I recommend you read Nava2's guide on how to apply for SRL members, as that guide helped me out a lot. :)

As you probably already figured, I'm voting no. Good luck :)

Sabzi

2011-03-27 17:20:18

Attitude? - Okay.
Script? - Way too simple.
Not just that reflection makes it simple. But you are using the simplest things from reflection.
For example I have seen way more advanced walking purely with reflection than most color methods. I think it was in nava2's any zephyr's miner.
It would be good to see more color methods too. TPA, DTM, things like that :).
I saw some unneeded redundancy too here and there.

To be honest(and rood :() this script is pretty much an obvious no.
Too simple, simple as that.
There was and there will be as simple application scripts as this and they won't get in. Most of these people however will return after 2/3/4 weeks(admin decision) and apply with a much better script and get in.

I think that I will make a new script that's not a Draynor fisher. I'll try something more complex which uses more advanced procedures, but I don't wish to stray away from reflection.

I don't think there's that much more that could be said about this script (in regards to a Members app), so it's probably going to die.

It's not that making a fisher is bad, as long as the script is failsafed, indented properly, etc then you should have a fighting chance.

I voted no, but I really like your attitude, so hopefully either putting more work into this script or a brand new one will change my vote next time you apply. :)

Sabzi

2011-03-27 19:17:27

Nobody said to stay away from reflection.
But it's harder to make a complex script using only reflection, not impossible though.
To get in I highly suggest you to learn some advanced color techniques as they are not hard at all to learn and you will get in more easily.
Then you can use whatever you want in your scripts.

My first script i made i wanted to be a fletcher. So i wrote a fletcher. I didn't want to apply with a fletching script so i added deathwalk to it. Albeit deathwalk is pointless in a fletcher i put it in there and it worked great.
I used ALL color, and got like 21 yes. I suggest you try to atleast implement color and srl fucntions(not so many Reflection)

HarryJames

2011-03-28 19:19:00

Woo for my attitude :P
The standards for what I coded from scratch seem pretty good to me, it's how I've always done them so regular standards to me, look like my standards to you. (If you get that).

I'm working on a Berry Picker, I'm not sure if I will release at all though, I might use it for my Member's app if this one fails! (And no, that's not an incentive to choose your vote as a no!).

Gu3st...

2011-03-28 19:22:22

There's a lot of good logic in your scripts, and I like the way you've created the procedures and functions. The only thing I dislike is your lack of failsafes… Even though you're using reflection you should ALWAYS add failsafes. Maybe not because your script might fail, but because the human who's using the script might have some bad setup that would make the script incapable of doing what it's supposed to do..

I'd also like to see more advanced functions, as it is right now it's very simplistic…

But I like your attitude, and I see a lot of potentional here, so I'll vote yes, but that's because I believe you wont let me down by giving up too quickly ;)

Nava2

2011-03-28 20:04:48

I want to see you progress and improve. You have the necessary attitude and the capabilities, I'm sure.

I was the first one to vote yes. :)

I'll comment now that I won't stand out for saying yes, lol.

Script shows you at least understand how params and everything work. You're inquisitive on IRC and forums, I like your attitude, and you're taking the criticism constructively. Glad you're not just (openly ;D) butthurt about it. Hope you push through and finish your new script. Good luck.

No fail safes in the death walk? Using reflection to walk to the bank (When it is very close and able to do it in colour) and using NPC's for walking? I don't understand why you would use an NPC for walking, when it is one tile away … Reflection for finding trees aswell? Pretty much everything in your script is reflection. No from me :(

I'll re-apply with a new script in a few days.

What's the 'in' conditions, majority, percentage?

There's still a chance you'll get in :)

What 'defines' getting in, and not getting in though.

Is it either Majority vote, somebody decides (eg, somebody 'important') or a Majority percentage?

Majority = in, tie = admin decision. There's a 4 week (correct me if i'm wrong, I think I am) delay between applications by the way.

Oh, well that's a tad bit annoying.

I've got this script, all I need to do is add failsafes and make a pretty proggy and then I'm done. 10X better than this fisher!

It's 2 weeks, and it looks like this app will close on April 10th. :)

So if I don't get in this time, will I be able to re-apply on the 10th/11th or will I have to wait until the 25th?

Majority doesn't(Atleast not 3 years ago it didn't) matter with these really: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=23879

That helps, posting a Members thread :3

I presume you had more No's than Yes's?

He had a few more yeses than Noes, but didn't get in. If it's close, it's really up to the admin to decide.

Well, my next application for members will be my fourth :D

I applied twice when I was about 13, and though that the script on the first page (the one I put in
 tags) was worthy!

You got a yes from me, I really enjoy your attitude.

Script, eh… pretty simple and not really showing your true potential but I have a feeling you'll continue creating/mastering scripts/scripting.
