RS Colour Finding Symbol

Reet, I was searching through the Tutorial section after Search failed me.

Naum has some tut's in his Sig, yet for some reason I'm not allowed to see it. I'm presuming it's been Archived or something?

Also, how does one go about finding a symbol on the MM?
FindSymbol usually takes co-oords, but thinking about it I could use the symbol (The correct one), like MSX1 etc.

It's in the members forum.

Oh okay thanks. Any chance you could copy/paste me the Tut in a PM?

I've managed to find out this works, but I'd still like to read about it!
findsymbol(x,y,'bank');

Maybe I'm misinterpreting your request, but you can find out how MM symbols work in the "symbol" file. (Includes > SRL > SRL > Core > symbols.scar). They're just simple bitmaps from the looks of it, anyways I hope this helped.

that link is over 3 years old…
all that tut says is that FindSymbol is used to find symbols on the minimap.
FindSymbolIn is used to find symbols in a specefic part of the minimap.

Yeah I figured it out Flight, I couldn't understand why it wanted coords when it was obviously going to check the MM :)

Thanks Football, It's better to know than to miss a decent tut :D <3 <3

Unfortunately, its basically a useless tutorial. Naum has much better ones, this one is not a gem by any means.

Now, asking someone to leak is a no-no for the record. If you can not see a board, you should not ask someone to give you the information/post. But, if you know /who/ wrote it you could ask them politely to give you the info. It is up to their discretion. Otherwise, you just have to wait!

Just informing you, you're not in trouble or anything!

P.S. Its called leaking to share information to lower ranks which they are currently not privy to

I have a question to this… Why is a tutorial hidden… Shouldnt a "Tutorial" be for all members/users?? I dont need it but I just wanna know why because Im sure lower ranks who are now learning would like to see this so called "amazing tutorial" that is so good that its hidden. :S

The members forum has a tutorials sub-forum. It's for guides that the makers don't want to release to the public.

Its far from a good tutorial. You get as much, if not more information from the symbols.simba. o.O

That was my thinking, which was why I asked for it in a PM.
I wouldn't ask for a script, because that's different. It didn't seem like it would 'hurt' anybody :P

Isn't FindSymbol(x, y, symbolname); about the most easy proc… ever? =P It does exactly what it says… finds symbolname and stores its' coords in x, y

Yeah it is ><

I just didn't know what to put for x and y, because I thought they were input (not ouput)!

want a tut? here you go:
if there is a "rare tree" on the minimap this will return the first one it finds:
program new;
{$i srl/srl.scar}
var
x, y: integer;
begin
SetupSRL; //Loads SRL
ActivateClient;//Activates the client
wait(1500); //Waits 1.5 seconds to make sure the client was activated
if FindSymbol(x, y, 'tree') then MMouse(x, y, 3, 3);
//Searches for the symbol on the minimap, sets the value's of x and y
//to the pixel it found the symbols at on the minimap
//for debug i am having it move the mouse to the spot
end.
find symbol in is useful when there are possibly multiple symbols on the minimap and you would only like to search a specific part. this example is best run between the edgville yew trees with the compass to the south:
program new;
{$i srl/srl.scar}
var
x, y: integer;
begin
SetupSRL; //Loads SRL
ActivateClient;//Activates the client
wait(1500); //Waits 1.5 seconds to make sure the client was activated
if FindSymbolIn(x, y, 'tree', MMX1, MMY1, MMX2, MMCY) then MMouse(x, y, 3, 3);
//Searches for the symbol on part of the minimap, sets the value's of x and y
//to the pixel it found the symbols at on the minimap
//for debug i am having it move the mouse to the spot
end.

This is for a "newer" version of SRL but the functions work the same.

The tutorials in the Members section are mainly tuts which were made when SRL was first created, so most are outdated.
