Seperating Reflection and SRL members

I want to open this up to serious discussion, cause I feel that there is far too much arguing over what is better, colour or reflection, colour doesn't break with EVERY update, but reflection, when working is generally more reliable. Basically, they are fairly even.

What I wanted to discuss was the seperation of SRL members into the two categories, SRL Members and Reflection Members and probably a second category for people with both memberships.

This should settle the dispute over whether Reflection is allowed into SRL memberships.

Its either this or we have to make a decision, or at least a TEMPORARY decision, which we have on the form.

99% of people that can use color can use reflection and vice versa. I do not see a need for different titles.

Bad idea, imo

We need to settle the argument, if people aren't willing to let reflection into SRL membership applications, there needs to be something which shows skill in reflection.

Who didn't get in with a good script/attitude just because he/she used reflection?
Sure there are some that will vote no more likely because of reflection, but there will be more yes if the application is member worthy, imo.
Not to mention this wouldn't stop arguing.
And I don't even think this arguing is bad.
Both side will try their best to prove their method is better seems fine to me.
Scripts will be used with or without reflection and scripters won't think twice, they will use what they like.

Maybe I've been gone for a long time but most people don't argue about an application being reflection only, and usually reflection doesn't hurt the application. It's about complexity, knowledge of pascal, and knowledge about SRL that is required at the end of the day.

I'd still rather see OCR used for NPC chatting than reflection any day. Reflection isn't the best at everything and color+OCR isn't the best at everything. There is not a single best solution.

Actually, Reflection has the potential to be the best solution imo, but I still prefer to see color in an app as it is harder to master

My feelings exactly.

Thank you for saying that. Hopefully people will actually listen to that coming from a Ref dev.

You're welcome. I usually try to avoid debates but this has gone long enough. People should realize that color+OCR will never be efficient at ground items and reflection will be extremely annoying at best for NPC chatting. There are things that inherently can't be done well with one that can be done easily with another. Instead of arguing, people should go exploit those strengths.

If you feel the need to script in Reflection only, stay junior/registered user. After all, what does SRL members add besides a blackmarket, few scripts/tuts (not enough imo :p)?

+1

And just use both :p (what ever works best first, then back it up with the other)
