AAAAAARRGGHHH!!!! .. Really, that's how I feel.

So many things wrong!! I really can't stand it. Sooo many things wrong, there is no place to start raging!

There is no reason, on my pc that I have to close out of programs because the computer can't candle it.

I should not have to get so pissed that I go to my laptop, boot into ubuntu and complete a task that I couldn't. I mean seriously. GIMP on linux is way faster than photoshop or gimp or paint or whatever on windows.

I seriously can't work on any images that are over 4000x3000 px without any program crashing after a few saves… works perfectly freaking fine in linux.

Not only this, last week I had to reformat my machine because among other things, SP1 corrupted my visual studios install (required for school, lame) and I couldn't compile any code without there being an error. It seriously wasn't me.. I copied the code and ran it on a friend's computer and it ran fine.

CURSE YOU MICROSOFT AND ALL YOUR CORPORATE BS.

Maybe you have too many processes running int he background. Even if you don't have actual programs running there are services/processes that still run.
Start>Run>MsConfig>Enter
Disable stuff.

Why is it so freaking hard to install windows XP on my Windows 7 computer? I WANT WINDOWS XP! I have no CD drive or USB flash drive, so I googled a million ways of installing it without CD or USB, and after hours of trying all sorts of pointless bullshit I found EasyBCD. So I somehow manage to boot an Windows XP installation disc ISO from my HDD, and 10 seconds into the windows XP installation… BLUE SCREEN. Bah. Why can't there be an easy way to install XP on my freaking computer?

That's one thing that really sucks about PC's. Almost every program you install runs when it's not running. Especially any Apple software!

anonymity, I don't have that problem and I'm running on a older PC (Intel Core 2 Duo e6750, 4GB Ram @ 800, GeForce 8800GT, Windows 7 Pro). Then again, I haven't installed SP1 yet.

You can buy 4gb USB sticks for like $6? Why not just buy that and do a USB boot?

… I want it now. And stores are closed tomorrow. It should be possible to install windows xp without a freaking memory stick -.- Cheapest 4gb you can get is 15$, online. Probably 30$ in stores :P

EDIT: Gee, how did that double post happen? EDIT2: Gee, where did that double post go? :p

And aah.. Got a fresh Windows 7 install instead. Love how smoothly everything runs with everything wiped clean!

Uhm no, hadn't heard of that until now :p
But since I already downloaded and installed W7 I'll just stick with it for now. Seems to run MC nicely :D

Baaaah Iunno if Im misunderstanding here but what computer doesnt have a USB DRIVE or a CD DRIVE?? I tried to imagine this but then couldnt because getting the operating system on it would be a ridiculous amount of work.. such as pulling out the harddrive, sticking it in another computer, load the OS on and then putting it back in..

Unless of course u meant that u dont have a USB "STICK"..

I don't own a single computer with a CD drive. Even my work computer lacks one.

I've not yet had any problems with windows 7 x64 - and I've used it on everything from a humble atom to a core 2 duo to a six core AMD 1090T.

I had win7 on my netbook, unfortunately, it killed the battery life and was essentially a very crappy way to run a netbook.

If you're interested, Meego is a nice alternative. In fact, I'm using Meego right now. :)

Fair enough; win7 is definitely heavier than mobile alternatives. Have you tried x86 android or chrome OS? I tried both inside QEMU but wasn't impressed with either. (Well, android was neat, but no more than a novelty)

If you mean Atom, yeah because Atom is trash.

I am running Win 7 Professional (Thanks for the key, you know who you are ;)) on my Laptop. And it's just a humble E-350 with 3.6 gb usable RAM.

30 FPS in l4d, 40 FPS in TF2. Haven't tried to do any photoshop though I don't feel like risking the integrity by pirating it. And there is probably a difference to how photoshop and gimp treat files. I think Photoshop everything is uncompressed till it is saved, and an uncompressed 3000x4000 picture is a lot of memory that youwould need.

Thanks for the pro-tip… I am an intermediate computer wizard. I build computers for a living.. I have 3 things in my msconfig. .. Good directions though. Always a good place to start.

an AMD Phenom II x6 1055T [ 2.8 GHz ]
a solid 8 GB of RAM
and liquid cooling

I should be fine, right?

I really just can't stand the amount of bull microsoft pushes out. I would rather they wait a year and fix bugs and memory leaks than push out an os that sucks complete … sucks!

They outsource a lot of their code are more worried about making money and getting product out than efficiency and reliability. If I didn't have to use their software, I wouldn't.
