Webber

What is webber?

Webber is an application similar to Sumillion's Pathmaker which allows the design of Web Walking maps using a GUI. It then exports the code needed to Load the web in a WebWalking Include file (coming soon).

How you can help

Download and open Webber, load the WorldMap.png then open the WorldMap.web file. Start Creating!

Things to come

A neat way to bookmark nodes. It will export constants that refer to the specific node. eg.

const
W_VARROCK_EAST_BANK = 13;
W_VARROCK_WEST_BANK = 24;

The web walking include. This will find the nearest node and blind click to that and then follow the web with the shortest path to the target destination.

Fixed, I hadn't checked it enough with connections.

@pyroryan, apologies for the rapidshare again. It's the only one that's working on my virtual machine. If you or anyone else could upload it to something else that'd be great. Also please could you remove the links from the previous version?

Please don't use all of my bandwidth; other mirrors would be nice. But for pyro:

Sounds neat. Would this eventually be able to be used with SPS as well for those who prefer to use color methods? I'm interested to know more about the web walking include and if you'd like to see it separate or a part of SRL. :)

I'd like to see the include becoming part of SRL.

I would also like to see it use SPS and reflection to be optional. It is very easy to convert tiles to SPS pixels. I'm more of a fan of colour myself but I'm using reflection for the development stages. MSI could use it potentially to generate the path at the start of the script, store it and reverse it.

@Zyt3x: Cheers :) it's actually made in Lazarus FPC, I don't know what that means about making it an extension for development.

I will be releasing this open source later as well. Just got a few things to add.

Would it be possible for me to write a function that records the tile players are at while using this and you put it in the source?
I need to gather walkable tiles.

ReadySteadyGo

2011-03-26 14:28:24

Have a look at WorldMap.web, it's an XML file.

I would just write a procedure in simba that records the title players are at then outputs it in the XML format. Then just open it in Webber and you will be able to view and edit the information collected.

Yes it's because the world map is a super large image. No way of getting round that if your computer can't handle it I'm afraid. I've had this problem with Sumillions too so the problem isn't exclusive to mine.

Yeah it took me around 4 hours to figure out why haha. I had to do some ugly coding to get round that one.

Couldn't the map be broken up into a few sections? Then you wouldn't have to keep the entire map in memory.

ReadySteadyGo

2011-03-27 09:04:03

Maybe, this will be released as open source later on today so if anyone wishes to add that they can.

ReadySteadyGo

2011-03-27 20:12:31

v3 has been released! you can now add constants to nodes by double clicking. If anyone has been working on a .web file, they will need to add some lines to it. let me know and i'll tell you how.

Smartzkid

2011-03-28 00:02:55

Any chance you could add scroll wheel support for zooming?

ReadySteadyGo

2011-03-28 12:12:44

At the moment scroll should move you around the image. I'd quite like to keep that. Obviously you can change your own copy. What I can do is add shortcut keys for zoom in/out? Would you like this and if so what would you like them to be?

Smartzkid

2011-03-29 23:05:29

Personally, I prefer my shortcut keys accessible by my left hand when my fingers are on the home row. Simply because my right hand is on my mouse and home row is fastest.

Things I'd love to have shortcut keys for: Zoom In/Out, Add Node, Delete Node, Connect Nodes. A nice touch would be a toggle for working on nodes to moving the image with the mouse.

If these shortcuts were easily accessible using only one's left hand, the application could be fully utilized without having to move one's eyes from the monitor.

alright I got it figured out

if there are too many points it won't allow you to copy them in the export mode

I'm going to re-do mine I did the whole members section in class but it was done quickly, I'll do it better

edit:

this is what I got so far:

http://i.imgur.com/tbZEJ.jpg

but yea the circles are for me.. stuff I need to check out with my character first so I know how it works & how to travel so ignore them

I pm'ed readysteady.. about the problem with too many points

attached the one I did if anyone wants to check it out

edit:

haha! after watching the door for a long ass time + asking a bunch of friends/people I've learned the door doesn't close anymore (at the pink circle) but people close it a lot! so I'm not sure if it's safe for webwalker…?

yet another edit:

so if it isn't too much to be all in 1 file, I'd gladly map out the entire game of runescape etc.. when the maximum copy things are fixed
could be done in a day probably

ReadySteadyGo

2011-04-06 13:57:32

Wow! Looks amazing. Good job. I need to sort something out about the maximum number of characters in the export code form.
