Possible cup for active scripting contributors?

WT-Fakawi

There are a couple of members very productive, f.i. TomTuff. Should we not grant those users actively contributing scripts a (new) cup?

Scripters cup?

NCDS

Scripters cup should be awarded for a well put together script, and to someone who knows what they're doing, but is short of masters. That's what I always got from it anyways.

Whatever happened to the 'Guild' title or whatever that was you brought up a while back Fawki? I thought that was for people actively deving and updating scripts?

The problem with an "Active" cup is that someone would have to pay attention and remove it as people become less active. Almost every other cup is a permanent achievement of some sort that doesn't require maintenance.

agreed with tara, I think it would be tough to determine when the person is no longer actively scripting and what not. I like the idea though…I think it would just be hard to maintain.

Gets removed when you get Masters, or at least that's how it's supposed to be (IIRC).

Guild Members would probably be implemented at the same time as the script manager, which would then allow for commits to the script manager to monitor scripting activity, and if that does get conencted to the forums database along with the stats system, then a cup could be automatically granted through the server to the user who actively maintains a script.. :)

Only problem with this what happens when the script becomes self sufficient. Scripts that can go on for long period and need no maintenance. I'm sure we can all think of a few of these. Old script that will work even now after not being updated for months/years.

E: Sorry for my inactivity on the forums. I am currently in the process of moving my family over to germany with me(Finally.) Probably won't pick back up til maybe this summer but I'll stop in to see what going on for time to time.

So, we doing this or not? Because I'd like to nominate a few people for having scripts which run pretty well (but are not necessarily written members quality in terms of code).

Propose! Azrael it is for the moment.

Azrael for non-member quality but still good scripts……?

promising newcomer?
new scripter?
Rep ?

Then New Scripter it would be I suppose.

Why not just follow through with the Guild Member or whatever it was from a few months back. (The one you get for actively maintaining 1 or more scripts).

That seems most fitting for this situation IMO as I don't see any reason to create another cup specifically for the people who don't take the time and put forth the effort to achieve the cup that already exists.

Just my opinion though.

Haha…… I like the idea, but there should probably be some rules for the cup………

Definitely not for SRL Members+
Removed at Azreal?
Allowed for any JM (no matter how long they've been here?)

contrast with promising newcomer would be the timeframe..
Promising newcomer: Only for the first 3 months and
new scripter allowed at any new script?

is the new scripter cup at the perceived level for SRL Members?

eg, if you saw that cup, would you expect the application to be (at least script wise) a pass?

Not necessarily members level because then the person should just apply for members and work towards azreal if that's what they want I guess. I would think this to be more of a cup for those people who actively put out scripts and but aren't at members level.

One example I can think of would be the 'low level' scripters who really just make scripts with Reflection and aren't members. The scripts work well (in most cases) but they are easily put together, but perhaps this would give them a bit of incentive to keep going.

I wouldn't be opposed to this being open for members either honestly.

I think hold up on this until we can automagically do it. It is a lot of maintenance and not really worth the effort at this point, in my opinion at least.

so, the current setup is Azreial for writing a script, and Masters for actually maintaining it ? Just wondering….

Azreal for writing a somewhat advanced script I suppose (many have slipped through), and Masters if your lucky enough to have something you've done get noticed I suppose. It's not really defined, and neither really mean much these days.

They do mean a lot to those that dont have them. Back in the old days Wizz and I used to hand them out manual, whenever we saw fit. But this led to understandable frustration, so it is decided to poll on each. But this has led to a downfall of cups. The process has become painstakingly slow. Not saying it is wrong atm, but only slow, since we all need to have a say.

Wizzup?

I think 2 or 3 days is long enough for polls. I don't think the time it takes is the main problem, but rather the lack of people polled, but that's something to be discussed in the higher boards I guess.
