Next Gen Bot :)

Ok well I will keep this short and sharp.

I am starting a little project in making a Java Bot, BUT it will focus on having multiple interpreters.
So the idea:
After discussion with i luffs yeww, the bot will already be able to support Jython
But I hope to add support for other languages.
I was thinking that if we make the functions that need java. Then have a (pascal) interpreter. So people can write majority of their scripts in pascal but use the built-in java functions. For example interfaces.

If you want to be a part of this project PM me :)

Thank you.

One thing I learned over the years is to not post shit until it can be "tested," or at least "ran," and shown off; an idea only goes so far.

Do you have any knowledge of the client? If not, bot development will be a foreign concept to you.

What's up with the attitude? He needs/wants people to join the project. Of course he can post it while it's still just an idea.

It's the harsh truth. Like 99% of projects fail.
I hope this one doesn't, though :D

Why would you bottleneck your bot with a pascal interpreter?

This. Multithreading pl0x

Object oriented programing with multi-threading capabilities, than you could script a bot to be event handled, so you could easily create a script which would be able to perform thorough tasks without much code, providing you would use the SRL include.

How would it bottleneck it?
It is just extra "functionality".
As I said, bits that need to be done by java will be done, then people who know pascal and not java, can code in pascal.

Seems a good idea, irrelevant of whether the project will work (I wish you good luck though). Could further failsafes be implemented into SMART (cross Java compatibility)?

Because pascal is not near as fast as java.

Hmm.. didn't think of speed "/
Fair point.

Definitely put _Echo on the team. :p I would love to help out with scripts and such, I've worked with Java quite a bit in the past, it'll probably come as 'easier' to me then working with SRL and pascal scripts, or what not. Whenever you get to the point of an official launch of the bot and the interpreter, please let me know. :)

I'm up for it. I can code Java and Python (Never heard of Jython :3).

I have no knowledge of the Client though!

I think I have, I tried adding you from Hotmail and Gmail, my IM client is messing me around :(

Why would you spends months making a bot from scratch when there are already a number of great bots out there (Simba, neXus)

I dunno why you'd want a Java bot to support Pascal in any way.. :x Talk on msn moar about this.

Also, H. James, Jython is essentially the same as Python, it just uses Java libraries. You can use Jython with any Java bot, afaik, as they compile to .class files. Was thinking about writing a jython script for rsbot to see what would happen when people see no {}s anywhere. ;)

Instead of fitting every god damned thing into your bot making it a jack of all trades, maybe make it a master at one.

Err nevermind, I've been playing around with TRiBot and it's all Java so I think I'll stick with it.

If you guys have any issues or questions concerning the client and bot development, remember that the moparisthebest forums are a great resource. I wish you guys luck, these sort of projects are very time-consuming :p

I'm interested in this project, I have knowledge of Java, and a small amount of Python. 'Though minimal knowledge of the RS client, but I've been reading up.

BCEL or reflection? (or even colour?)

Contact me if you think I could be of use:

An OpenGL or ASM bot would be good options as well, the possibilities are endless.

Reflection :)
But as I have said, this is a majority for learning experience.
Therefore, once done reflection, other techniques may be developed :)

I have added you :)
