Based on his signature I think he might be a bot.

We are a community based on OCR and we can't make a captcha good enough to keep spam bots out?

I dont think lance is a spambot. Sorry for the accusation Lance, there have been a lot of bots signing up recently to spam our forum!

He has some regular posts, let's give him the benefit of the doubt? I suppose either way we'll know soon enough.

I'd just have him remove his signature..I am unsure right now. I thought he was a bot at first.

Uh, the captcha is/was pretty good. It's a set of images and you have to relate them to questions asked about the picture… Like, ``what image stands out'', etc. It's perfectly possible there are humans solving the captcha's. Then again, if you have a better one, let me know. There probably are better ones.

The problem is we don't want the captchas too hard so that it is a nuisance for humans to solve…I've seen some that are difficult for even me to solve :p. That is not cool.

Haha I had a look, it is pretty good.
Just thought it was kinda funny.

The "choose the picture" CAPTCHA is really weak due to its limited pictures (and pictures being static); it was "solved" a long time ago. ReCAPTCHA instead of the default VBulletin CAPTCHA would also probably help a ton.

You could replace the choose a picture one with ASIRRA, but that's weak as well (choose the "adopt me" link -> it says it's a dog or cat). The simple change from VBCaptcha to ReCAPTCHA would help a lot I am sure.

http://www.stopforumspam.com/ is also really useful, but that has the disadvantage of blocking legit people on abusive NATs.

In particular:

Also:

Perhaps it could be setup so the `spam bot` infraction automatically reports the information to their servers. Feed the system, per say.

With it like that I would say humans are solving them.

My sarcasm is dry and subtle….Hence, my "Robot Voice", the fact that I read his other posts, cross checked his IP Address, and deleted his signature…Don't you have a script to write or something ? :D
