Foreign worlds botting
Flight

Originally tarajunky's idea and after a little looking around I found also that logging into Runescape via the German settings, that there's a total of 5 worlds, the 3 free worlds have no more than
50 players in each, and the 2 members worlds have no more than
150 players in each, think of the potential! This would once again give us the advantage over
ALL other bots and even 99% of all other Runescape players infact.
Obviously converting SRL over would take a large amount of work, as nearly every string we have would need to be re-written. I've already started on the basics (Login/lobby screen, player tabs, Obj/NPC interaction options, Player skills) but any help would be wonderful, because as I further looked into it, all NPC names are different, right click options also different, hell even the object names are different. The biggest change would be item names, they're all different as well.
Anyways, let me know what you guys think, if the SRL developers are willing to do this
and if people are willing to help out in the simple things like convertain English to a foreign language then go ahead and give me the green light and I'll continue converting starting with the main text like what I posted earlier. Please post comments or suggestions, or even if you're willing to help. :)
Edit: I'll be posting my progress list here of
Deutsch conversions directly from their Runescape worlds. It's up to you if you'd rather work in a Deutsch world or another foreign world, but imo I think we'd be much faster if we were all shooting twords one language at a time.
i luffs yeww has already started work on "srl-flrl" (SRL Foreign Language Resource Library), here's a link to it:
http://github.com/iluffsyeww/srl-flrl
From: i luffs yeww
By the way, I'm hosting my work on github at iluffsyeww/srl-flrl (SRL Foreign Language Resource Library). I'm only keeping the essentials (core folder and some things in misc). For the average user who wants to help, I'll make a folder (just forgot >_<) called "resources" that can have files for translations that I'll update when people post or if anyone sends pull requests.
But for the people who have said they wanted to help, what you can do is..
- Go to a foreign language world
- Run around collecting any transitions you can (accented letters are important by the way!), and make sure you translate them correctly
- Translate any items, NPCs, quests, stats, etc. that you think useful (i.e., we don't need the Kalphite Queen translated right now ;))
- Optional: Make fonts for the foreign languages (for letters that are accented, ask for help, as they don't always follow a certain format)
- (Related to above) Post any language help you can! For example, where an o with an oomlaut should go, and how to post those letters without googling for the oomlaut (dots) (in German you add an e after it, so Schrödinger's cat would be Schroedinger's cat)
Can't think of anything else to add, but anything helps. :)

idk if it'll take a lot of work. Just translate the Strings (stuff between the ' ') to dutch and other languages?
Gu3st...
2011-03-13 23:17:59
One way to do this is to save all language dependent information in a .txt file that srl reads to find out what to search for.
I.E:
english.txt:
All
Lobster
german.txt:
Alle
Hummer
and so on.

Yeah there ya go Zyt3x, that's a good suggestion. @Noidea, you're right it'd be very simple to actually 'code' it into SRL, the main project itself is going into the foreign worlds and converting/recording all the new words for that language. So far I've got the login/lobby screen, tab names, everything to do with private messages (including friends/ignore), and now working on stat names.

Sounds like the type of project even I would be able to help out with. I would gladly do some of the brunt work copying down all of the strings for other people to add as they see fit to SRL. Of course I don't want to try to join things that might be over my head.
Just get the fonts for the foreign language, and have all the strings in SRL be a constants S_LOB, and have them be declared in a file where it's like {$IFDEF ENGLISH} S_LOB := 'Lobster' {$ENDIF} {$IFDEF DUTCH} etc..
then leave it up to the scripter to get specific stuff for their script if they wish to add it, then that can be added to the SRL file where the constants are defined and it will grow
the only problem I see is where you want to use parts of strings for stuff like uptext, then you would have to make multiple constants (S_LOB could be full thing, S_LOB1 is 'Lobs', S_LOB2 is 'ster')

I'll work on this, as of right meow.
We can have xml language files or something. Similar to what vbulletin and other software use.

No I mean write a separate script in python or perl (probably better) to parse all the files in the include and make a new include replacing everything in the ' ' with the other languages translation. Idk how well google translate would work with that though.
i luffs yeww, that was probably thanks to me ;p

I doubt it would work that well (@Google translate).

I'm not gonna rely on google translate, I have a feeling Jagex might have mix-matched some words. Now if you got the words from the foreign world and put them in Google, then that would probably work, but if you do it the other way around, I think it'd be very inaccurate.

Round two, Ogre? ;)
My idea is to just keep everything how it is, so scripts wouldn't need to be changed. All that would change would be the world language (I think this should be an option in SRL, and something the scripter could determine (like MouseSpeed)).
When text is searched, besides writeln's and whatever else I come across (making only ChooseOption/etc. things involved), it will look in an include for that term and then use the world language defined in SRL.scar.
The biggest problem is most search terms are "obster" and what not, and not full words, so the translations become different. How I think I'll deal with that is to have it search for it within strings (so "obster" would be find in "lobster," "raw lobster," and "lobster pot"), and then check the language in SRL.scar, and then try all three of them. If I can do anything in Python (maybe add something to Simba), I'll check any values that have been successful the most first, and reset it after each use.
It'd be nice if I could have it continue for the same script you use, but to do that I'd have to check something constant or use the name or something, but updates would break that in most occasions, so for now, reseting at start will work fine. Nothing is TOO slow (I'm thinking about searching large areas for text) to make this not worth the time, hopefully.

Also, what would we do about Smart? How would it load up foreign worlds?
I'm up for it.
I like your idea more, I'm going to try to look through SRL extensively tomorrow to find the exact things that need to be changed (unless you beat me to it) - tonight I have two essays to write.
i luffs yeww
2011-03-14 00:00:50
SMART would need to be changed, but if there's a way to do it legit, there's a way to do it our way. ;)
There's a param that would change, but no scripts would break.
And just to make this clear, so far nothing I can think of needs to break any current scripts. It's slightly more work, but it will also turn out more useful in the long run, imo.
I think a few people should try different ways to see how they work. :) Little competition never hurt.

Thank you for what you've posted so far btw (translations)! :o Should help me.
But with how I'm doing it, I'll probably just have "lobster," "raw lobster," and "lobster pot" to test with for now. Maybe start making a list of common things translated? Items and all, like logs and everything. And anyone can help with that.

Yes that's where I'm at, at this point in time. Banking is next on my list, then on to common botted object names/interaction words, common items (like you said, fish, ores, logs) and that'll also draw the need for NPC names for example Fishing Spots and their interaction words.

So far I tried editing worlds.ini and added world 139 and tried loading runescape.de instead of .com in SMART, and it crashed Simba.
I'm not really in the mood (tired) to mess around with that stuff, but if anyone wants to be cool, they should load a german world in Simba, and edit worlds.ini for all foreign worlds. :D

Just made another big update, this includes bank chests, the GE, and I've started to tackle one of the hard parts: Items. So far I have common resource items (ores/logs/fish/bars/gems/flax), tools, and 'some' magical items (runes, essence/pure essence).
But like I said, I can only think of so many places we'll need to be translated, so far I have the majority of the basic and important strings, but I need all the suggestions I can get!

A reflection miner.. Text should only be neccessary to detect whether mouse is over the rock, no? Banking (depositing) would be done by pressing the deposit-all button. Walking would be done without any text and mining would need to check for uptext 'Mine'. I think this should be doable :)

All I've done so far, Flight, is add languages/ to core/, a WorldLanguage variable in SRL.scar, as well as included /core/languages/languages.scar in SRL.scar.
I'll work on some actual stuff now, though.
Gu3st...
2011-03-14 10:51:39
Alright, this is the way I'd done it:
We have one file, named "Translation.txt". In this file, we store the English word for all the items objects and menus, then we have the translated word stored after each English word:
Lobster=Hummer|Portuguese Lobster|French Lobster|Swedish Lobster|…
Door=German Door|Portuguese Door|French ….
Then we have a function which translates the word to the current language depending on the variable CurrentLanguage:
function TranslateWord(SearchStr : String): String;
var
F : Integer;
S: String;
sArr : TStringArray;
begin
F := OpenFile(IncludePath + 'SRL\translations.txt', False);
if F < 0 then Exit;
if ReadFileString(F, S, FileSize(F)) then
begin
S := Between(Lowercase(SearchStr), ';', Lowercase(S));
Delete(S, 1, 1);
sArr := Explode('|', S);
Result := sArr[CurrentLanguage];
end;
CloseFile(F);
end;
So basically: 1 new global variable: CurrentLanguage, and 1 new function: TranslateWord(), and 1 new file: translations.txt containing all the word we'd need.
This way we only have to change the strings to TranslateWord(string);.
I.E: in Bank.scar: PinScreen: 'Please' -> TranslateWord('Please');

Would it be much of a difference between a text file and XML file? I don't think SRL has used XMLs before (that I've seen anyways), wouldn't it be neat to bring something completely new to SRL that we could build from?
Even if the other bots build the same capability for foreign worlds, having this in SRL wouldn't be drawing us back in anyway but instead making it over all more advanced and at the top of Rs botting. We'll always have the advantage over bots, this is just another way to prove it.

:) Yes, of course. Just know that a lot of whatever you do will probably not be used immediately, as right now I just want to get a working model running, but eventually your work will be implemented. ;)
One thing I'm wondering about is simba's OCR with accented letters and what not. Harri brought it up in #srl, but I'm sure there's a way we could get it working.

Thanks! :) And the spacing doesn't matter - the format for translating will be something like English|Portuguese or something.
Do you happen to know Portuguese? If so, are there any ways to right some of the characters that aren't English in English? E.g., in German, ö can be written as oe and it means the same thing. Just as ß can be written as ss.
:) thanks.

I've taken Spanish for several years as a school requirement, Portuguese is similar. Most of the sounds with accents or tildes can be written in English I guess, like "Piñata" would be written "Pinyata" if it were an English word. Is that what you are asking?

Yeah, but now that I think about it I don't think it's necessary.
I think for my translation.txt files I'll just have something like Schr`o`dinger's cat for letters that are accented in some way or another.
:p Just keep doing what you're doing.

Germanic umlauts (ä, ö, ü) become (ä -> ae, ö -> oe, ü -> ue), and the eszett (ß) becomes "ss". But this can change the meaning in some cases and will cause confusion, and is not suggested. And besides, Jagex does it properly, so it wouldn't work if you "ASCII"'d it anyways, and will only confuse you in the longrun.
Don't know about BR-PT (yes, Brazilian Portuguese is a lot different than Spain Portuguese), or French, but I hope I helped a bit with the German part >_>

Yeah, I am pretty sure it doesn't handle the non-ASCII characters, even though they may be in the font. The chance of having something with 2 white dots behind an O in English RS is too great. If it's expanded to handle unicode, it must have some method to explicitly state if it's English RS or non-English. Or you could use "split uptext", i.e. searching for "Windböe" you would search for "Wind"+"e".

or a new function (for each function that uses the Simba OCR, like rs_GetUptext) that will accept the use of non-ASCII characters :)

If it got the german name directly from Runescape rather than a translator like Google or something. That would be a great idea. All I did was get the bare essentials so far like resource items and tools, what the translations I have already that probably accounts for 70% of scripts atm. Other scripts that require more NPC interaction or interaction aside from banks/trees/rocks would need to be translated further. That's why we need ALOT of suggestions on what to translate.
Probably another good set would be commonly attacked NPCs for autofighters, like chickens, rats, cows, goblins, guards, pest control NPCs, or whatever else. Also the object names for Gnome Agility course, Ape Atoll course, and Wilderness Agility course.

I personally don't think it's worth it - the uptake required for even the English version is enough :/. Then again, I don't train any skills where you must "compete" with other users…
I could help with German worlds though.
It would also greatly reduce your risk of being banned. If there's so few people around who's gonna report you? If you get banned you can just say that you don't know the language, so you have Public Chat off or something. Tell them that you swapped to that world to avoid the crowds and you just don't know how to talk to anybody there. :spot:

It's because you have to parse the html code from the webpage to get the item name from a header. It's the most accurate way though, so if you were to leave it running for a while it would get through all the items eventually.

How long does it take to produce the list?
Well, I'd have to make the modifications again since I didn't save it (didn't think anyone would seriously use it). But once its done, it'll take about 10 minutes max per language. I've never actually hit 8 minutes so its probably going to be under that.

So on a valid ID (that an item exists) it takes 8 minutes to grab languages?

I think it's 8 minutes for all items of each language. So 24 in total
pyroryan
2011-03-15 19:01:19
Usually (95+%) under 8 minutes to grab all items in the GE in English.
Another 5-8 ish minutes for another language.
And so on.
So I'd estimate that the whole process for 4 languages would take around 30 minutes.

Now that items are looking somewhat found (just need to run the software to grab the data), it looks like our main focus would be functions in SRL that use uptext. A lot of those functions that need translation are the antirandom files, so we need accounts in randoms so that we can accurately translate to the uptext ingame.

Why don't we just translate whatever is used in SRL and leave it up to the scripter to translate the words if he/she wants to make a script that supports several languages?

Umm… Because that way we can be professional and be the first community with a bot that's fully compatible with foreign worlds. Also I don't speak German, french or Portuguese so I wouldn't be able to translate everything correctly.
Plus for those who know what they are doing with the java client (pyro) it is very easy to dump the names.

Why not just set up `Dictionaries` then when SRL calls a String it could be associated with a Const, then the string is grabbed from a dictionary based on the const and the current set language.

Why would you even want to translate "alk-he" when it's "Walk-here" that's interesting?
Now people have stuff like FindTheObject('inderbox'); right? But with this new update they'd have to change it to FindTheObject(Translate('inderbox')); According to you right?
But why?
Translate('inderbox'); would then output the translated word of Tinderbox which will include caps.. So all this complex code were just so that the few lazy people that might do "Translate('inderbox');" would stay lazy?

By adding translate to ChooseOption, the scripter would have less control and be forced into using phrases that have translations, putting more work on the shoulders. Obviously there are ways around this, but thats about the only reason I can see.

I was thinking about making a few functions that simply translate their input string. They would be called "EngToPor" and "PorToEng" (specifically for Portuguese and English). I was planning to loosely base them off of R_ReturnItem, where the function loads 2 arrays of the words we have found, and the values from each array are equal to the other language's translation of that word. So if the function finds the input string in one of the arrays, it will return it's translation.
Good idea or no?
i luffs yeww
2011-03-17 13:42:34
No reason, really, Echo. How I have it now, all that you have is Translate() and it will translate it to a foreign language based on the user's variable WorldLanguage (in SRL.scar, and if they add it to a script it will work the same). The problem with EngToPor and what not is then that would add a lot of defines that aren't necessary.

He intends on making it so that it would work if you're using 'obster' instead of 'lobster', but that is imo not a good idea as it could give false results and wouldn't really help the scripters in any case because doing Translate('obster'); to german would return Hummer, and doing Translate('lobster'); to german would also return Hummer, so the only benefit from adding support for that is false positives (and making lazy scripters stay lazy).

I agree we would have to centralize every word into an archive or something or pull it up in the script from a directory. It would Take a while but it is possible and might help organization and maybe lead into newer better ideas.

Unless you see anything majorly important that I missed in the Deutsch translations, I think that part is taken care of. _Echo is working on the Portugues translations. We only lack Francais. Unless there are some special objects and npcs you'd like to have translated, by just as Zyt3x has stated before, these will be declared within the script itself. I think at this point we're more worried about the core of the project, SRL itself and loading Smart in foreign worlds.

@i luffs yeww: I noticed some of those 'special' characters in foreign words were usually in the middle of the word itself, so if I'm predicting correctly, skipping over special characters would, in most cases, limit you to trying to find around half of the word you're searching for, would this not be inaccurate?

The number isn't included in the uptext, sometimes when the uptext is too long(eg: superheat iron ore) or some random error it thinks the i/I is 1 and gives random stuff like '^' for spaces.

I don't understand why you're against this at all.. :/ And by this I mean my idea.
Just as a few examples as to why I want it to translate the German word of "lobster" when Translate("obster") is passed.. (From Emaziz's application)
if not ClickText('aw','UpChars',MSX1,MSY1,MSX2,MSY2,true) then
TYPE_LURE: option := 'ure';
TYPE_BAIT: option := 'ait';
TYPE_NET : option := 'et';
Those wouldn't work if this was added how you want to do it.. And those are all of the text finding things I can find from a quick glance. So his script wouldn't work if we did it your way, but would work if we did it my way..
And if it matches a whole word it will obviously use that first.. It would check them in order of % matched.
Gu3st...

And what do yo think Translate('et'); would make 'et' into before translating?
I found 70 results on this page
http://www.tip.it/runescape/?rs2item, and that's only for A.
How would the script know which one to pick? That sounds like a awfully (unnecessarily) long and complicated function for me, with a lot of useless code.
Using what I want (to rely on the scripter to enter correct information) such errors would not happen. Translate('Net'); would translate 'Net', and 'Net' only.

But then most people would have to rely on the scripters to add this, when that's silly imo. And would be tedious for them.
I don't see how it would be complicated? :x

No, they'd just have to rely on the scripter knowing what he's doing (and not entering 'ow' intead of 'bow')

and i think if this takes off and ends up working scripters here can do their part to use an include like this!

I'm starting to think the entire word should be required in order to translate, just because there are so many translation possibilities for commonly used suffixes and word endings.

Exactly. There's so many possibilities for false results
There could be an option to look for partial matches, and you can check the most similar word with something like
function SimilarStrings(s1, s2: string): Extended;
begin
if (Pos(s1, s2) > 0) then
Result := (Length(s1) * 100.0)/Length(s2);
end;
and see what the highest result of this function is with different s2's
and do an SRL_Warn or something if a partial match had to be looked for, if there wasn't a perfect match (of course it would only do this if the option to check for partial matches was set)
and make sure there's a minimum similarity percentage for a partial match to be selected

And what do yo think Translate('et'); would make 'et' into before translating?
I found 70 results on this page http://www.tip.it/runescape/?rs2item, and that's only for A.

Btw, we won't be able to do much until we refactor SMART for multi-language support. I made a script to run in a Portuguese world on the webclient, but apparently the game "flashes" and causes Simba to deselect the client (according to Coh3n.).

If it's done right it should be just fine. In SMART, at least.

It's too bad that this project died so early considering what we could gain from it.
I was bored, so I made a simple base for the include that reads translation data from .ini files. I already added full support for item name translation, now objects and NPCs are what's left.

Wouldn't something like
function Translate(name, lang, category: string): string;

end;
work just fine for Translator.simba?

Yeah just changing the text within the include is all that would need to be done. Any other translations would be up to the scripter.

I'm by no means the best person for attempting this at a mass scale, but I have been macro'ing this game since there was no srl, and you had to manually search forums to find includes for scar. I actually noticed that a few of my scripts were randomly loading smart under a foreign world, so the script editing was quite simple.

why don't we start this already.
With java bots gone there's no better time then now to bot on foreign worlds.
We need one person to start and make a skeleton and keep an update blog/post of what needs done and what format to keep the information in.
It'd take barely any work as far as getting the translated term for everything is concerned. The scripter can get item-specific translations and mark their script as a a foreign world ready script.

2011-11-08 18:27:39
well I would imagine that most of the includes would need to be rewritten, but to some effect we already have this. There are older and some very simple scripts you could potentially edit to work already and actually loading into a foreign world with smart is easy.
I have edited a bone burying script and am sorta working on a bar smelting script using this principle idea. If anyone is seriously considering doing the full rewrite and would like to see my basic work I wouldn't mind explaining what I have done and perhaps releasing the scripts to you, just let me know.

open up worlds.ini in the include folder and then add the world information to it, then all you do is SMART_Server := 000 (<- german world) and then start up SMART as normal.

Although a lot of stuff is different these days, this is being discussed quite a bit the past few days with people really looking into making it happen. This would help a lot for members+ (mostly, probably) in the tree cutting and other competitive botting
woodcutting
mining
what else would benefit greatly from this? idk much about the game

I believe in the end the most work would be done converting the script itself to read foreign words; simply up to the script to do this. If I remember correctly, minimal changes to make SMART load a foreign world, and maybe later on an extension to SRL's fonts for the OCR to read to special characters.
grats
2012-08-31 07:38:50
if it is kept members, scripts can just rely on themselves to run instead of an include
also there are only 4 servers or so.. and if it is f2p they can just choose the grey server instead of lookin for all the words etc (to make it easy)
imo creating an entire include for <4 worlds & maybe the 3 right clicks something has to do while botting (for example: right click a tree, right click the bank.. right click.. an item?) other than that there's nothing it has to know how to read
Footy
2012-08-31 08:08:45
Change up text, change choose option/waitoption, get SMART to load foreign servers. That's all we need. As for the other characters, why not work around them? When you hover a Tree, let's say it says " Le cüto le treę "(note: That's not actually a language) So if it says that, jus do waituptext('to Le tre', 600);
Guys, please don't bot on the German/French servers. :( Those are the only bot-free zones atm, imagine if they start to gold farm there. Keep the botting on English servers :)

Lol, your vote will not change anything. If you were a mod it might have a significant chance of change, but your not even SRL member. These kinds of things you may as well keep to yourself because it for 1. Isn't a change to the game, and 2. Isn't hard to make, only time consuming.
