Reflection Resource Library
RRL, the infamous reflection library.

RRL is a small library development that utilizes Reflection via SMART.
The include currently supports a wide range of core features and an increasing number of anti-randoms.

RRL has the ability to run independent from SRL or any other include. It does not rely on color, or another includes stability–it also has a low compile time.

RRL is built with simplicity in mind and most things are prefixed via:
  • r_Get
  • r_Set
  • r_Move
  • r_Does
  • r_Is
Functions and procedures also have a very descriptive name, it should be easy to use if you can use "Control + Space".

—

What specifically can be improved about RRL?
What is it missing?
Suggestions or input?
Do you want RRL to be adapted into SRL?

Thanks, I figured I'd make this thread since there is a lot of talk about RRL now.

I found the mouse functions most intriguing, they look really good.

Did you write your own hook updater for this?

It's really nice to see this project take off. Congratulations Timer, if I knew what I was doing I would help out more.

You can provide accounts in randoms to him

I only play my main :p I made an army but I never run it, and their stats are pretty low. I've been testing RRL with a few personal scripts, and I've notified him of a couple bugs (e.g. second level objects failing).

I fixed second level objects.

What the hell is up with the license? I hope everyone understands that they are not legally allowed to make and distribute changes to RRL, unless Timer permits you to.

  • Attribution — You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor (but not in any way that suggests that they endorse you or your use of the work).
  • Noncommercial — You may not use this work for commercial purposes.
  • No Derivative Works — You may not alter, transform, or build upon this work.

Sounds completely useless to me.

Suggestion: Use an license that respects our freedoms and actually stimulates people to work on this project.

It's a one man project, not a community project :(

That would be defeating the purpose of this community.

Agreed, it just doesn't make sense to me that Train is making an entire closed-source library with an application that was created by big supporters of open-source software.

This works with both Simba and SCAR, requires SMART. Anyone can make their own include? I don't see any reason why it would defeat the purpose of this community.

SRL is an open source community, and it's been this way for as long as I can remember. I don't remember ever seeing anyone work on a project that's closed source and expect everyone to use it, that would raise eyebrows from just about anyone. Everything that's released on SRL is open source, is it not? Do we release individual bots that are compiled and not intended to be viewed by others? We do not. Are the other includes closed source and not open for editing by anyone? They are not. In my opinion, make it open source or keep it to yourself for private use.

SCAR was closed-source and still remains that way, we have just recently gotten Simba. And RRL is open-source in a way, you can read it all you want, I would imagine you can get ideas from it.

It's not listed on the Open Source license list: http://www.opensource.org/licenses/alphabetical so I'm not going to call it open source. More like read only source.

He's already considering changing it.

Besides, who gives at rat's ass about licensing.

Lol @ it being "closed source", and "defeating the purpose of the community"

Hmm, you already forgot scar? Smart was also closed source for a long time before it was open as well.

His current plan as hes told me is to switch to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/ after its complete. He wants it finished before others work on it and "ruin" its image

Edit: I'll rephrase that from being so harsh.

RRL is not really a community project. RRL is more of a personal library that is meant for personal use.
I don't want other people to help me develop it. The reason I posted it here is so that people can feel free to use it, and if they wish, they can loan me an account with a random on it so I can solve it.

Nothing more, nothing less.

The license is currently as closed-source as open-source gets because I want to ensure it's success. If I didn't have it under a no-derivative license I bet SRL already would've adapted it and released it "finished" with crappy code from srl-reflection. I want this include to succeed.

If it's not a community project, then don't ask the community for help. (This includes accounts in randoms)

You're pathetic, by the way. You act like you're really something, the best coder around. Seriously man, have a look at what you just said. If your attitude is really anywhere near your last post then you really have no business here. You should've been banned the moment you returned your permanent ban was still active. (Permanent) That cup next to your name is not something you should be proud of and the staff reserves the right to ban you at any time, for whatever reason. You should better change your attitude.

We can see that open source projects don't succeed here, very deductive.

E: Different license seems like a good step forward, but really. People don't ``ruin'' your work if it has an open source license.
