http://ushort.us/Simple url shortening site, right now when you type in your short url, the landing page shows what page you are going to be going to, and is a 5 second timer before redirecting.

This was actually a cool fun few hour project for me, that I would like to get out there.

You made this? What a nifty idea. :p
Yes I did, thanks :)
I am trying to find a decent template right now, thats why its only plain text on everything.
Noticed some of you were doing sites without http:// so it would redirect wrong on the service. Fixed that now, so it checks and adds http:// to links if not found.
(I was checking for functionality, I don't browse the links for privacy reasons.)

The url is kinda long for a url shorter isn't it?
tinyurl.com = longer :p. bit.ly, the .ly domains are unstable because of the conflicts in that country.
if you mean the .us/asda, I am also going to be adding an alias option, so you can choose the text to choose the short url.

I dislike the fact that when you visit a shortened URL you have to wait 5 seconds to visit the actual website…

He's probably planning to add ads to it.

zasz perhaps use a cookie and allow people to turn off the wait? :)
Or, use something like tinyurls `preview`?
I'm OK with the wait, I get scared. :P
hmm, I woke up this morning with the idea to do something like add a ~ sign to the end of the url to skip the wait.
Yes, ads MIGHT come. But this will be a site where you are not forced to view them if you want. (just by adding a ~ to skip the waiting system)
But the reason I added the waiting system in the first place was to allow the person to see where they are being redirected.
edit: the ~ sign i remember now seeing it used for a different purpose on another shortening url site. My subconscious must have remembered haha, but it would be used for skipping the wait, which isn't on a different site.

I don't like the current template, and aren't there already enough of these? :D
My friend owns zr.fi domain, he uses it for url shortening also.
I will keep adding new features to it haha, maybe a file hosting addon.
I guess if you guys wanna make a template and screenshot it for me, I will look at it.

Quality templates ain't free ;)
Yeah, right now I'm near broke.
I have tons of worked lined up, but its not even a sure thing if I get paid for all of it…
Like $200 in jobs….
Kinda why I am sticking with this template and not trying to buy one.
