Q: Detecting Movement on Mainscreen

Nowadays the RS mainscreen is pretty static, the compass wobble has been reduced to virtually nothing. All on the mainscreen is static, except for NPC's. Is it possible to write a function -with little lag- that returns the coords of any moving object?

you can do a MS capture, wait a bit, do another capture, compare pixel changes, then return coords…can be sorted for size, color ect…

look at pixelshift/change forget whats it called in the core/animation of SRL

but this would be really slow..what is it needed for?

I could also imagine taking roughly four pixels of each tile and compare the colors. If there is a great shift you can assume something is moving.

I would like something like that to quickly click on a moving object, without having to check color, uptext, chooseoption etc.

Well, 2 bitmaps of the MS, then run that through a plugin that marks any 5x5 pixel areas that have changed more then the tolerance set.

EDIT: Or set the size of the block that changes, depends on the NPC that you are tracking.

Well this is a very easy task, it just should be made into Simba or a plugin.
Look at pixelshift functions in Animation.scar, and just add it to result a TPA.

PixelShift is in the bitmaps unit of the MML I think.. :O
