F2P Mining/Smithing Info

I used to be really on the ball with all of this stuff, but haven't kept up with RS in a while.
Apparently there is a f2p deposit box in port sarim now?

So what's closest iron ore to bank now? Varrock East Mine or Rimminton or are they both pretty close?

Also, I hear about having X dungeoneering level can get you into some special mine within the dwarven mines? What's that place like, is it worth it to get the dungeoneering to access it?

VEM is botted to hell, it's pretty difficult mining any iron efficiently there.

Also, money wise clay/iron/silver what's most gp/hour (disregarding bots)?

Also, smithing. As far as I know it's pretty much never profitable at low levels (if you smith the bars into something) is this true? At what level does it start to get profitable? (After turning bars into items)?

Also, just regular smelting (making bars), what bars is this pretty profitable for? (I'd prefer to mine my own ores, but I guess buying is fine too).

:spot::f::duh: lololol so there's a bunch of questions umad?!:google::sasmokin:

Did not know that but it may be worth it

I'm guessing VEM is still the closest but it's botted to hell

I'm working on it I have one more level to go then I'm gonna be working on a script for the resource dungeon

Clay I believe, it respawns the fastest

I don't think that making items is ever profitable. Only turning ores into bars is profitable, in which case steel is the best profit and is more often actually a profit.

The other questions were pretty much answered, but for smelting (generally speaking) the profit goes up as you go up the ranks. Meaning that steel makes more money than iron, and mithril makes more than steel. This was the case before at least, I've heard that prices are crashing and leading to less profits.

I'll rephrase. When buying, it is generally better to buy the best materials you can smelt, and sell the bars. This is the most profit. When mining, you may want to stick to steel, because it is easier to mine rather than waiting forever to mine higher level ores, it would likely be higher $/hr

level 15 dung: A bank deposit box is located near the entrance, making this very convenient for anyone who wishes to mine Coal and the rocks inside this dungeon.
Resource Mithril, Silver and Coal rocks

but its really botted i think

Per bar Mithril may be better than steel, but return on investment, and profit per LOAD, steel is the best bar to smelt.

Also JPHamlet, I would really appreciate a dungeoneering resource area miner…

I have a character with a good mining, and I may just make him get a few dung levels…

When I used my Baby Melter, it had a gp/hour feature and the numbers actually ended up being slightly higher for each increasing level of bars (it based it off the price of ores in the GE and then the price of the bars in GE) but it may be different now that prices are crashing (so I've heard.)

Profit on steel bars is like 75 per right now……………

Had to put enough periods to emphasize how I feel.
Most of my bots are having to switch to P2p to remain profitable.

Coal in the mining guild or clay is your best bet for profitable mining at the moment. Other than that, smelt steel bars, or anything above steel. If you were p2p, I would suggest making cannonballs, but f2p doesn't have that convenience.

Coal in the guild isn't easy, in the dungeoneering section is extremely effective.

last time i looked, smelting isnt profitable at all. steel is just barely. addy was not. another reason why i havent finished updating my smelter (which i actually have a working version of :P)

iron seems to be like 30gp profit/bar if you make ore->bar. so yeah not a huge profit margin >.<
