Juniors in BM

Rich

Was going through my PMs and I found this:
From: Wizzup?
Perhaps we can make it so that non srl-members can post replies in the BM but not make threads…
I can't remember if I posted it before (Wizzup? gave the go ahead for posting it here in another PM), so I'm posting it now. Pretty much keep the BM as it is ATM, but allow Juniors to post, but not make threads. Also, perhaps make Juniors go first in the trades. Comments?

I support, I have currently done 1 successful trade with a junior member, it went great, he went first and I followed. Juniors go first, or use MM.

As long as they go first or we use a MM, sure why not.

Pretty sure it was posted somewhere else..

Oh OK. Sorry. Well, everyone seemed to support the idea, so there's no harm in re-posting I guess.

This, but I think the MM is the OP's discretion.

for sure. Allow them to purchase whatever, and whether or not they need a middleman or to go first should be OP's discretion.

This is exactly why I added what I have to my sig. I knew JM's wouldnt be able to see the thread and have already received one PM on the subject. If they go first, I won't require MM.

OP?

You mean the non junior?

Also, no jr<->jr trades

We should allow them to buy and sell. Of course there will be restrictions, but it is a good way to get things flowing.

Buy? sure

Sell?

Maybe money, but not accounts.

Too high risk involved.

I kind of like the advantage we as members have in being the only ones selling anything.

But, if people are wanting the change, I would support at least trying it out. This will probably create more activity for SRL Middlemen.

I support, but I think the sellers should also give member benefits. Like, the price is lower for SRL members per mil than Junior Members.

Shouldn't price be up to OP's decision?

Hence why I said sellers :)

I support this idea. We could use a little more activity in the black market.

Juniors are chosen manually now, not automatically given based on postcount.. yeah? If so, I don't see too much harm in it.

I support this (specifically what IceFire is saying), but it will take away some of the appeal of being a member. I know there are other places to sell, but this is probably one of the most trusted.

No, it's still auto but postcount is 100. I checked the other day.

Is there a certain amount of time they have to registered for as well? Also, instead of just talking about it, can we try this out? If there are talks in higher boards, then I'm sorry.

BraK

Selling in the Black Market could also be another benefit to being a member. So allowing Juniors to post in the section would be extra motivation to some of the juniors we have hanging around.

summing up what is the best option (in my eyes) :)

Jr. Members
-CAN post in 'current' black market threads
-CAN'T create new threads
-MUST go first to all SRL members+
-MUST(maybe) have to use an MM(being SSRL staff+)

SRL Members
-CAN create threads/services
-CAN'T be used as MM's
-DON'T need MM's for srl member to srl member trades.

can we keep this thread alive because the SRL community does deserve to have a great open market that is 100% trustworthy

Agree on everything apart from the Jrs having to use MM. That should be at the discretion of the seller.

I think that MMs don't have to be used, but at the discretion of either the buyer or the seller.

I'm sure there is a thread about it higher boards and they are discussing it.

It might sound a bit pushy, but they've had a fair while to discuss it.

Well, it was discussed somewhere last year and the outcome was clear, but since then nothing happened.
300 posts 6 months is what we were thinking about.

Sgt Soul

2011-05-03 08:17:32

that is fair because then that removes the people that haven't been around but are still junior members because of the old automatic system.

Why can't SRL Members be MM's?

I disagree with that part – Way I've seen stuff happening around the forum, it doesnt matter if you're SSRL, Dev or w/e. If you're going to scam, you're going to scam.

@Market Moderators+: Maybe have official MM thread or something on the subsection so people can apply, if we want them to MM, give them a title or something, or a Cup, to show they're official.

Sounds like a great idea. A cup might be a bit too far, so like you said, a title would be fitting. Or maybe a username colour? Just an idea.

Also keeps the trades moving quicker. There is more activity in the SRL Members than in SSRL/Mods etc. More Members are likely to volunteer themselves anyways.

Mhm. At the moment with only Members+ using the BM, I don't think I've seen one thread where an MM has been used. However, if/when the BM is open the Juniors, there may be a larger need/want for them.

Also, just wondering, how hard is it to open the BM to Juniors? Reading that back, it sounds like I'm beings sarcastic, but it's not; it's an actual question.
