Cheap and Decent Gaming Mouse

I got mad and threw my mouse.
Right left button is acting a bit odd when I click and drag/highlight.

Can you guys please suggest me decent/good gaming mice that cost ~$30? (Edit: Looks like most are a bit above $30 :/, so hit me with whatever is good, but keep in mind low prices)

I'd like it A LOT more if it has back/forward buttons on it for web-page navigation. Nothing red.

Looks nice, great features too! My friend has a similar mouse, I love the scroll wheel. Bit pricey, but then again I'm a cheapo, maybe I should just dish out some extra money for a nice one.

I made out on mine - Logitech has a great warranty policy. I bought a Logitech G5 a few years back, and around 6 months ago the wheel stopped working. I called them up, and they sent out the newer version (The G500) since they don't produce G5s anymore - at no cost, not even S&H - after I gave them the number on the bottom of the G5. So I got 2 nice mice for $50 :p So i'm not even sure how much the G500 costs :duh:

G500 about $50
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002J9GDXI/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=

And WOW! You had a mouse that was YEARS old and they sent you a BRAND NEW one when it broke, that is AMAZING!

We have 3 different types of Logitech mouses in our house and they are all really nice (for simple mice)!

I like regular mouses with two buttons and a scroll. I even used ball mouse like a year ago until I lost it when I moved house… Ball mouse is just perfect but you have to open and clean it every once a while.

deathadder is probably the most comfortable mouse ever made, everyone I know who's used one would agree

it doesn't have buttons everywhere just 2 extra on the side

I know people who don't like the deathadder, and the new version was gimped as well.

Intellimouse 3.0 is still a very popular mouse, lots of quake pros still use it. Can be had for $30.

Though if you can I'd suggest going to a store and trying out all the mouses to see which feels best to you.

Also guys, what's the big deal with gaming mice?
Do they feel better, respond better, make your penis bigger, and what else?
Is the difference noticeable and amazing?!

KingKong

2011-02-23 18:02:47

Um…. I think they're more comfortable than ordinary ones, so you don't stress you're hands as much, and they're supposed to be more 'accurate', as for making the penis bigger, they proly do but only when used in conjuction with a porno website ;)

High DPI (often hot-switchable). Customizable weighting. Comfortable (sometimes).

I'm not a big fan of Razer.

I used the Logitech G5, but I think that has been replaced by the G500 or something. My G5 survived a LSD fueled throw at the wall. I personally think the whole customizable weighting thing is a bunch of bullshit, but I like the high DPI that is easily switchable. It has those back and forth buttons for web navigation too.

Which are bindable. My front/back buttons do front back, and the center button is F5.

i have this one.

http://store.razerzone.com/DRHM/store?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=razerusa&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&productID=169418100

Its one of the most expensive mice I have every owned. I got it last year from my GF for x-mas and its really GOOD! Its a hybrid mouse which is why its so expensive.

You can use the cord or your go wireless. And say if your battery is dying, it has 3 LED lights on the side that are bars and let u know so you can plug it in real quick and charge it back up.

Also has its own charging dock when ur not using it. Its 5600 DPI(which is the super sensitive setting).

It really is a overpriced mouse and if your just doing simple stuff like browsing the web, i dont recommend it. but if your a hardcore gamer.. you will love it.

Sweet! I think it looks ugly, but the features seem good, pretty good DPI (I don't even know what high DPI even feels like), and the cheapest I've seen for having 8 buttons, also, as posted above check it out!:

How do you like the Mx518, tell me about it.

Smartzkid

2011-02-24 22:44:43

Can do 3 levels of DPI switching without SetPoint installed, 5 with

Sturdy buttons (other mice I've owned have broken/stopped clicking right after a few months to a year of use)

Great forward/back button placement

Aero flip button (if you're not into that, I think you can remap it… I cbf to try)

Scroll wheel feels good (no infinite scroll, but from what I hear most people hate that. I sure do!)

Shiny!

Ergonomically, it's pretty comfortable. It's got a place for you to rest your thumb on the side of the mouse. Not bad, though I suppose it would feel different if you have immensely large or small hands.

I have been using mx518 for quite a while now , you can control the dpi up to 1800 (thats to high for my usage to :p) and with 16ms response time its pretty accurate. this is mouse witch is good today and will still be good in 10 years. its also pretty good comfort (you wont get staplers) ;)

Logitech Mx518 Arrived today!
I've only had about half a day of use with it, but so far I'm very happy with it and like it a lot! Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

I still think it's ugly though, I'm looking into taking it apart and making the 'faceplate' black instead of ugly.

Smartzkid

2011-03-02 19:02:36

Paint it! (Same technique as painting a phone - sand with medium grit, paint, sand with fine grit)

Be careful if you take it apart - I've never opened up my Mx518, but I have been inside other logitech mice, and they were pretty tough to get back together.

YoHoJo

2011-03-02 21:48:20

Yeah I've been looking into that, I'm pretty good with that stuff, I've repaired quite a few Nintendo DSs and PSPs, a bit scared for this though :/. I think I will eventally because it's so damn ugly but I want to be more confident about it. I think you need to take the pads on the bottom off too, how the heck would I put them back on glue? What kind?!

Smartzkid

2011-03-03 20:24:23

You don't have to remove the feet; look for the little x's in the plastic (there are three). Make us proud

YoHoJo

2011-03-05 17:18:26

@Smartzkid

They USED to look like that on back:
http://www.ngohq.com/images/articles/mx518/images/back.jpg

The newer models look like this now:
http://soulhunters-crappy-website.com/misc/MX518_03a.jpg

Not I'm not sure how I feel about removing the pads and what kind of adhesive would be best for putting them back on. Maybe one day I'll get the guts to rip it apart, I'd really love for it to look different, but I don't feel up to it right now.

Thanks though, I saw that guide earlier it's nice.

YoHoJo

I doubt I'll need to BREAK the mouse feet in any way, just take them off and put them back on carefully.

Smartzkid

2011-03-06 03:38:46

Definitely. It's just nice to know that they're there in case you royally mess up.

For adhesive, why not try some sort of 3M spray adhesive? Easy to apply, thin, and clean.
