Can someone describe how to do this step-by-step?

This pops up when I run Simba.

Version 810 has been released. You can find the thread on http://villavu.com
Simba 0.96 (Installer) has also been released.

It is recommend to reinstall Simba as we have changed the extensions again.
The Extensions are incompatible with Simba older than 810. Simba will
auto update itself on Feb 12. If you haven't reinstalled then, you can let
Simba update itself, but you'll have to manually update the extensions.

NEW Extensions are here: http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Extensions810.zip
Unzip them to your Extensions folder. (Make sure you remove the older ones,
first)

Sorry for the extension issue & Thank you for using Simba,

I don't know how to determine my Simba version?

How do I reinstall Simba? Do I rename my old installation directory (If I delete it, my scripts will be deleted, too) and then do a brand new install?

Quote: "You can find the thread on http://villavu.com". Where exactly is this thread? Which forum should I look for it in? If I were to search for it, what keywords should I use? 810? version 810? Simba 0.96? When I do find it, will this thread provide a step-by-step procedure for how to get an up-to-date Simba installation or is it a thread where developers are discussing problems with their new code?

Help, About will show your Simba version as most programs do.
The release thread is at http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=62122 (Simba, Revisions/Releases forum). Basically shows some stuff about the new release (what was updated and why).
Reinstalling is indeed uninstalling Simba and then installing the latest version again. I recommend you make a backup of your scripts just in case, I'm not sure if they'll stay or not.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, Markus.

I used Help, About in order to determine that my Simba version was 750, not 810.

I used Tools, Update to update Simba automatically.

I exited Simba, then started it again, then exited again.

I used 7-Zip to unzip the http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Extensions810.zip file into C:\Documents and Settings\<intermediate directories>\Simba.i386-win32.2010-12-01_21_12\Extensions\.

This appears in my Simba console:

Loading extension C:\Documents and Settings\<intermediate directories>\Simba.i386-win32.2010-12-01_21_12\Extensions\security.sex
Extension Disabled - Did not compile
[Error] (1302:16): Unknown identifier 'GetMufasaBitmap' at line 1302

"The Extensions are incompatible with Simba older than 810."

I may be wrong, but I don't think it will update to 810 automatically yet because of some changes, you have to actually reinstall it from here

Thank you for your quick reply, Ogre.

As I detailed in this post, I currently have version 810 of Simba and I have used 7-Zip to unzip the http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Extensions810.zip file into C:\Documents and Settings\<intermediate directories>\Simba.i386-win32.2010-12-01_21_12\Extensions\.

The thing that I neglected to do was go to View -> Extensions and enable all of the extensions. I did that today and that was when I encountered the Extension Disabled - Did not compile error message when trying to enable security.sex.

(To summarize, I had two choices: either automatically update to version 810 using Tools -> Update and installing the extensions from the .zip file or using http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Release/Current/SimbaInstaller.exe and doing an install from scratch. I chose the former.)

Unless my understanding of this version 810 installation process is lacking, I have the extensions that are compatible with version 810 of Simba.

So it's working? Good.

I thought you may have thought it updated to 810, but it hadn't really because I knew it wasn't going to allow itself to update to 810 until some date, and I didn't realize that's already passed.

Simba will auto update itself on Feb 12.

Thank you for your quick reply, Ogre.

Everything is working except the security.sex extension.

I get a compile error when I double-click on it.

[Error] (1302:16): Unknown identifier 'GetMufasaBitmap' at line 1302

Yes, the February 12th date has passed.

At one point in this entire version 810 installation process, I actually thought that "Simba will auto update itself on Feb 12." meant that it would just do it all by itself when I started Simba on February 12 or thereafter.

What it really means is you have to use Tools -> Update to update Simba automatically.

(My definition of automatically is that I don't have to touch anything. It just happens.)
