I've seen a few items like this, but my guess is it was a merchant'd item and the crash that followed.

Yellow is the exact graph to express the rise/lower in cost per day in the given amount of days. And if my memory serves me right, the blue represents an estimated prediction?

1000 people buy out an item for max price.

They do this until their goal is reached (Sometimes a 50% increase, sometimes as much as a 1000%).

Once the goal is met everyone would have like, thousands of the item. And in this case if someone bought say 100k in the first week, they would have only spent 70m but when the dump (the time when everyone stops buying) the 100k tiaras they had would have been worth 750m. However usually it doesn't work out that great, or as far as clans go you could be competing with thousands of members so you aren't guaranteed on getting such a high number of items.

After the dump though you will have a hard time (impossible) selling your items on the GE. Most people who did this had lots of rare items like a blue party hat that they couldn't sell on the street/GE unless they sold at a great lost (Blue partyhat is 3.4b right now). So they would have a blue party hat at 500m and 750m of junk and it'd be easy to sell it and make more of the real price.

The other method would be trading junk + cash for crashing items. You'd goto GE and say "Buying items 20% junk" and you'd trade your junk for 20% of the value of the item and the rest cash. This allowed you to buy items that were crashing or items that were just plain hard to sell and sell them on the GE.

However both these methods are now defunct seeing as we have free trade. Some of the best items were solo or duo/trio merched. A great example of this was raw beast meat, which was merchanted over like 200 days by 1-3 people. By the time they crashed they had saw a 3000% raise or something silly like that. Usually with public merchs people dumped their items earlier then they should have.
