Make Simba portable so I can launch it off my USB flash stick

Like http://www.portableapps.com

It would be very nice to just be able to launch Simba, have it save all settings to a .ini, and that way we won't need admin privileges on a protected computer in order to run our scripts. :)

Then refresh PortableApps widget.

Same here, it's pretty small even with the SRL and reflection includes. All you really have to do is change the directories in settings.xml to work with the port you have the thumb drive plugged in to.

Weird, why did it say i needed admin priviledges to install it… Maybe my school detects *.exe files as run as administrator only.

Smart IT people.

Try to rename the .exe to like a microsoft word execution … iexplore.exe / winword.exe etc

a big handful of schools won't block that

another trick is to actually open IE and go to file and then click "open" and open the .exe

if you do a mix of both of these you have a good chance.. maybe

You'd be amazed at the percentage of schools that'll work on

and colleges would let you run exe's.. which are the only schools with smart IT

It already is portable. Simba shouldn't even need an installation program, as it does not write to the registry, only one single directory (its' installation directory).

Also, just download and use the 7zip auto-generated file from:
http://www.moparisthebest.com/downloads/simba/current/ ;)

Eh, that hardly has anything to do with the Tech guys. That's just Windows. Like this: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/570740/windows_98_login/

Ah, the good ol' days of win98 :)
I remember crashing other computers on the same internet using a simple ping batch program…

So many bugs….

What K-12 school has a smart tech team?
I know my middle and high school I could get administrator access on any PC due to a bug in the system. And I never even had to login to my account :D

Portable installer would be nice for Simba, I'll have to try installing it on my USB drive.

Wow, your school blocks .exe files? I was running scar for ages at school, without issue, even if it wasn't connecting to the internet (I didn't want it to)

They cant block .exe files.. Thats what windows uses to function.

Filed a bug anyway. I'm sure we can make this process more simple: http://bugs.villavu.com/view.php?id=292

They'll obviously allow those .exe files ;)
