Importance of Training Combat

It should be pretty obvious to everyone here that leveling combat is one of the best ways to avoid getting banned from the game. If you've read Justkiddings guide or just use common sense, you know that a level 5 chopping yews looks highly suspicious. What you may not know is that Jagex is fighting back against low-level autoing with its own set of tools: randoms.

Today I set up my army of 50+ characters and left it on for a decent amount of time. By the time I got back to my computer to check, I only had about 5 players inactive which wasn't bad for the amount of time it had been going. As I was resetting them I noticed that every single inactive player was below level 10 combat and had gotten stuck in a random. In fact, as I looked through my character list these were the ONLY characters below level 10 combat.

I highly doubt it has anything to do with player reports either. The rocks I was mining were copper and tin, so my lower levels weren't exactly standing out. Also, one of my accounts with reasonable combat level but the default appearance (the ugly green and yellow bald guy) didn't get any randoms.

To me, the data are clear (but feel free to interpret it however you want ). With over 50 accounts and only those under level 10 getting randoms it seems to me like Jagex is gunning for the low level macros. Good enough reason to set that Ratinator to work.

Randoms come based on EXP.

This was pretty much proven when the first bonus EXP weekend happened.

There's probably a few variables that we don't know though.

Theres a lot of things that can affect how often you get randoms. If you run that same setup for a few weeks and get the same results then I would agree.

I never denied this. But you are MUCH more likely to get a random when you are less than 10 combat. To me, this has pretty much been proven already, but I'm going to collect data for the next few weeks and sort it by levels and see what I come up with.

E: Just what I was planning to do Heysus :)

I agree with you. It should also help to do 1-2 quests every one in a while.

I had never thought of that becks. Do they have you on their friends list as well? After the first few weeks I'll add some Pmods and see what effect that has.

I'm quite positive that won't make any difference :p

Jagex already said Random events are determined by 1: Exp, and 2: Success/Fail rate at doing the randoms. Although I believe lower combat-level'd accounts increase the chance of a random event happening.

And I agree with 1337mining; I'm willing to bet quest points are factored into this some how…

All of my botting accounts are level 3, and none of them are banned after 2+ years of botting.

I hadn't failed a random in 2 months, and almost never got any.
Then I started hc botting again and failed several randoms, now I'm getting them a lot more often.

I don' t get a ton of randoms on my skiller, even though it is level 3. I'm guessing they send more randoms to accounts that have a high level in one skill and no other skills trained? That would be the logical thing to do.

Completing a large amount of randoms successfully plays a huge part in reducing how many you get, I have been playing + botting my main for 6 years and have probably completed 1000+ randoms and only failed/logged out on 1-2. I almost never get randoms anymore.

Because your characters are low level they may not have completed as many randoms in their lifetime as some of the higher level accounts?

Actually, I was pleasantly surprised to see how much better SRL has gotten at solving randoms. Whenever I saw it solved Molly I couldn't believe it

This is definitely a good possibility, and I bet you're right. But my characters all have 50+ in at least one skill, so this doesn't really apply to them.

Sadly no matter how much people warn of this simple way to avoid bans you will always get idiots who just unleash large army's of level 3 noobs chopping / mining away and pissing off all the legit players, the f2p willows at Draynor have been really bad … so bad that even rimmington yews has a lot less bots around that area all at once.

Either way one persons misfortune is another persons benefit so i encourage as many people as possible to keep botting on their level 3 chars as it takes a lot of suspicion off my level 30+ bot army :)

my lvl 60 acc never gets randoms, and only has its cb based skills at above 50+ i only really bot combat on that acc tho. so i think it also factors into what you're doing, whether your botting woodcutting, or combat, i think ur much more likely to get randoms whilst woodcutting.

My level 3 have never been banned.

As for people shitting up the game you can blame that on RSBot for having like 50 billion people leeching it.

The success/fail/logout rate of solving randoms would be in my opinion the only way jagex checks for botting.
