SMART vs Runescape in browser

What are the advantages/disadvantages of using SMART over just using runescape in a browser.
I don't mean the obvious ones such as being able to use your pc for other things I mean like which one scripts work better on, which runs better of browser rs and smart with the slider set near the bottom?
I tried running a pest control fighter on smart for a while and it was working very poorly, standing next to monsters and taking ages to find them, was getting lost. Then I ran exactly the same script in my browser and it ran 10x times better, it was pretty much flawless.
My Spec:
AMD Athelon XP 3000+ 2.18Ghz
1GB DDR RAM
NVidia 7600 GTS

With only 1gb of ram, using a lighter client would save a lot of memory, whereas a browser requires memory to run, on top of java and runescape.
The side-bar is irrelevant to script quality (I think), it's just the fps rate at which the client is drawn, however, idk.
To fix your problem, try setting the bar to max fps a second.

SMART has the overhead of having to copy the client data into a buffer. However, because it does this, Simba has NO copying overhead, since it reads directly from SMART's memory. You could try to raise the FPS bar on the right. Disabling the drawing in SMART should also help. (although you then won't be able to see what's happening)

Disabling the drawing in SMART should make a big difference. In addition, you might try raising the priority of Simba's process with the task manager.

I tried raising the priority of simba and it crashed my pc haha, thanks for the reply people, il try to raise the bar and disable smart then :)

I was told by Zyt3x, and I believe it to be true, that running Simba on Runescape itself would be the safest procedure. If I was to bot, that's the route I'd take.
But, no Reflection with no SMART :p.

That's probably the biggest advantage of SMART over the webclient. It sucks having to figure out coordinates rather than having SMART and reflection do it for you :p

The risk of getting banned while using SCAR or simba on the regular client will probably forever remain the most trusted, least risk taking method, of automating in runescape.

So basically… If the script uses reflection then use smart else use the browser? :)
Yeah, and if you want control of the computer, use SMART. You can still use the browser and just use a VM.

By the way, are you running Vista? When I ran Vista if I would change the priority of things I blue screened a lot. Always happened when I had Java as above normal and I tried downloading anything. Immediately it would crash. :/

You guys have way too much faith in reflection as opposed to the original purpose of Scar to do with colors and DMT/Bitmaps. You'd be surprised how far these two simple methods will get you in a script… I wouldn't be so quick to underestimate them.
I don't know how we underestimate them. That's how we started? And most of the people in this thread were around when there was no Reflection. I hated Reflection when it first came out but then I used it and thought it was cool. I still do stuff with color but you know..I only use SMART because of the minimization.
i always used scar before when i used SMART it lagged real bad but thasts because i had a ancient pc lol i recently got bk to runescape after 2 years and tried using SMART and it works great still trying to get my head around the whole different walking functions

No I'm running windows xp lol and I think with all the stuff that reflection can actually do at the moment it can make scripts a whole lot more reliable

i was just about to make similar thread when i saw this. and my question kind of has been asnwered but i was wondering if someone could explain it differently than what has already been written here.
my Q: so why does smart take up like (simba.exe) 150k ish mem while a browser would take like 230k + the java another 120k? the browser in itself is understandable to me, but doest smart also use the same java for rs as the browser? or whats goin on there.
and btw thanks for explaining those other buttons lol. i knew what they did but not really to the extent that i actually messed around with them. ill defintly disable draw and prioritize heavier scripts.
cheers

SMART is the client from the browser plus the java classes needed for reflection functions. The browser itself is loading things you don't necessarily need to bot RS like ads and such, that's why it uses more memory.

yeah that confirms this part:
"the browser in itself is understandable to me,"
but doesnt answer this:
"but doest smart also use the same java for rs as the browser? or whats goin on there."
because if i look under processes while playing on firefox you can see java as a separate process.
