Here's my reply :) Ever since Fawki restricted my admin powers I've had the time to settle my thoughts a bit, and I will not be as involved in SRL as I've been, at least for a while. And I'm going home for a week, so I will be going on holidays :D
I ask that no one really replies to this, I just feel like I owned all of you a reply for all the crazy shit I did in the past month or so. About 2 months ago I asked for SRL Leadership (while high, duh), and this is more or less when this drama started, cus my attitude pissed off some of the fellow staff, and then you guys. I'm glad this never went all the way down to SSRL, although I will copy this post there cus I think they should know. Nothing else will be copied.
Here's my post in staff, a reply to another postFrom: Hobbit
Unlike you I don't have a need to list out things I have done and things I doing as a petty justification of myself to others.
Yes, but I'm a cocky bastard who asked for leadership, so no wonder I pointed out what I've done for the community.
Not only that, but pointing it out for myself not only does it make me feel good, it makes me feel proud, happy and makes me feel that I've done my part and opened paths for others to do their parts.
Rasta Magician was a contributing member of the SRL Staff and his biggest project up to the year of 2011 was MSI which was then taken up by Coh3n and kept on it's wheels thanks to NCDS too as well as providing a learning ground for Zytex and Garret amongst others. It was also the biggest and most used script at SRL, so large in fact that it required a whole include.
Several RS Developments were made for and implemented in MSI and both Juniors and Members found a new place to contribute to. Sir R. M8gic1an revamped what was originally Special Ed's idea and on the third attempt SRL had at building a community script it succeeded.
RM also helped with Reflection through Naike and was interested in OpenGL and other possibilities for which he thought and tried to learn about everyone one of them at least a bit to be able to push it forward.
RM was a over-active nuthead who believed SRL was the best RS cheating community and that it could provide a service above all others thanks to the greal team SRL was.
I think it's fair enough that after 3 years in this community that I went and analysed all I did.
I hadn't thought about what I had really done for SRL ever since I became an admin, and sorta stopped thinking ever since I became a mod.
In fact, I wrote my own wiki around the time I became dev, and never wrote on it again until today that I've actually written a couple paragraphs on what I've done.
Please allow me to sell me to myself, I am quite proud of what I've done for SRL.
And honestly Hobbit, thank you for making me SSRL a very long time ago.
And now I'm pretty much officially on break :)
~RM
Quick story short: I asked for SRL Leadership at a point in time when I though I had just that lil chance of earning myself the title. I'm cocky, ballsy and just thought I might as well ask for it cus I had nothing to lose anyway.
Ever since, I've gone overly active in several areas and pissed off many people in staff & devs. Sometimes you have to piss people off, there's no way anyone will ever agree with you 100%, and so when a lot of people disagree with you at 50%, 70% or even 90% it ends up meaning trouble sooner or later.
I'm now going on a well earned break, so well earned in fact that the rest of the staff is telling me to go on break xD.
Last thing to say I guess is this:
If you wish to be a developer, MSI is a great place to start.
Making your own scripts is also a great way to go about it.
Implement anything that is good that you find in the R&D Forums - this is where our community is actually moving forward.
And finally, if you wish to be SSRL, keep in mind that all it takes to be in SSRL is good logical and a peripheral view. Find your place in the community, work on it, work on scripts with other people and so on.
And most of all, remember that the best way to learn is through those who know better. Go read up on other people's scripts and try to understand them. Every developer is a developer because he's a great scripter, and every developer is unique, so find out what was so unique about each developer to learn what the really good parts of scripting were.
For me personally my biggest example was Tarajunky, although The Claw and Wizzup were great inspirations too.
To list it shortly,
Wizzup has several scripts that are legendary and many techniques that are barely heard of and mostly only known by other devs, cus we took the time to look, read and learn.
The Claw won SRL's second competition with his Fisher. He was my inspiration for RM Fisher.
Tarajunky made both the ChickenKiller and The Mager (LAME).
Every developer is great, and I could go on to list more people, but I'll only list two more:
WT-Fakawi and Markus.
Fawki is obviously father to us all and has scripts for every skill. This was my big aim in SRL, to be able to train all skills at a profit the way he seems to have been doing for years. Fawki also has thinking patterns that are so stupidly simple to the point that they are genious. KISS principle - Keep it simple stupid.
And finally Markus - Markus was who I chose as my 'archrival' when I got to SRL. He has been here (much) longer than me (nowadays the difference is small, back in the day it was huge, he was SSRL and I was a newb)
I feel that I first beat Markus with RM Alcher, and he had his own alcher at the time too. Right now in terms of Alching Markus is beating me, with his joint alcher with The Claw.
And finally, Markus was also the one who called for me to go on break and now I am going on break, by choice and by force too. It's time.
And what a good Archrival Markus is / was.
And I can't go without mentioning Coh3n.
Coh3n was brought to SRL by Nava. Nava & Zeph are both great Developers and I'm proud to call them friends and for having worked with them.
It was them who pushed for me to become a Dev, and topped up by Nielsie who for some reason seems to always have kept an eye on me (thx).
At first I was suspicious of Coh3n, thinking that Nava was doing the work for him, but as soon as I started investigating this I realized that Coh3n was just a really Smart and Dedicated guy.
Which is why I invited him to join me in my projects, first one being JM Competition #1 where he did a great job, and then MSI.
Coh3n, I am so fuckin glad you came to these forums and have done all you did. You know I've always backed you up and pushed for you and everything, but I've never had the chance of saying just how proud I am. I always pushed for your promotions, but I only pushed for them when you deserved them, otherwise I'd just push you. And I am glad to see the person whom you've become to this community and I can see you going so much further than what you've gone already.
In not even two years you are leading the biggest community project SRL has ever seen. You are also a Dev and Staff.
To be quite honest, I think that the only person who's had a RS Cheating career as impressive as yours was Nielsie, who from what I heard literally flew through the ranks and is still nowadays one of the big heads here at SRL.
Now I don't want to spoil you, but you do deserve. I am fucking proud of what you've done, and what you've done has allowed me to do so much more than what I would've done without you. So thank you for coming to SRL, and thank you to everyone who has trusted me and worked with me.
SRL has been a core part of my life for the past three years, and it is thanks to SRL that I am doing so well in uni.
Not only that, but the people here at SRL have made me grow a lot as a person, and on a time of my life that I was walking the edge between a healthy life and the one of a heavy drug head it was the people here at SRL who stabilized me. You guys were the ones who I dedicated my life and soul to these last three years while on the internet, and I do spend a lot of my time on the internet.
So thank you all, I could write forever but I think that no one would want to read that much. Thank you to all who joined me in my ride through SRL and to all those who were inspirations to me and to all those who granted me opportunities.
I would like to say one last thank you;
Fawki - your posts on my scripts when I was just a noob were an imensily huge motivation because of how much I looked up to you.
Wizzup - Dude, I don't think I have any words to put here. You basically know my laptop's password, and I think that says a lot more than I could ever explain. Thanks for always being here, thanks for the constant watchful eye on SRL, thanks for Simba (the concept), thanks for showing me opensource, thanks for git, thanks for a million things.
Hobbit - You've always been a great friend and I loved every post and PM and messages we exchanged. If I ever make it to the US again, I'll definitely come and visit.
And last but not least,
Starblaster.
Starblaster - You were an inspiration to me, the biggest of all if anything. I wish I could find you somewhere and hug you, cus the scripts you've made, the legacy you left and most of all your script sales manager are still on my mind. I have really tried to honour you by starting up the competitions twice already, and It's still on my list for whenever I return from break. I also know that you were one of the major decision makers when it came to be becoming SSRL, and SSRL was a huge step to me.
I went from a member with no cups to getting SSRL, useful poster, something and scripters in the one month that I became SSRL. It made me proud and the day I got SSRL I literally told my whole (house) family about it and was really, really fucking proud and felt really really good.
And now that it comes to my mind, Nielsie, I think it was you who gave me the scripters cup for FindBankTPA. That really made my day.
And I just realized I miss munk. He was a great scripter too.
I love you all, I love this community, and I think that the person who I am will live on in this community for a long time after I leave. And I am glad that I could give back to a community that gave me so much and held me together through times of my life when I could've committed suicide over a very deeply broken heart. I really have gone through some dark times in my life and you guys were always a light to me. :')
Thank you.
