Well, its all in the title. A friend of mine recently started using RSBot..
i was trying to explain to him why he should stay at SRL. hes here for the bots, but since hes an IRL friend, i thought i would help him out.
He found RSbot, at powerbot.org or whatever, and i was telling him that
A. Rsbot is easily detectable.
B. Scripting is poor.
C. Srl's community is better. (my opinion.)
anyways, hes like nawh, i wont get banned. not if i dont bot 24/7, and only bot for like 8 hours a day.

Could u guys please give me some solid reasons, etc, to present to him?
Please and thanks - P3rs0nal1ty.

Um, RSBot isn't even that bad? I like SRL better but its not like he will get banned for sure. All depends on the script he is using and how long he uses it for..

Really? it always gets trashed on the forums. so i assumed that it was all bad.
And the part where the "Hacker named Gho$t" or whatever on the other subforum says that he found a way to get the accounts in RSbot.
soo..? idk.
i assumed it was really bad tho. and that it was very easily detectable?

I've used it. I haven't had anything happen. I used it a lot too. The community there is just shit pretty much. There are some cool people there and a few good scripters. It is just like that because they have way more users/leechers than we do.
The "hacking" by Gho$t was already fixed and is no longer a threat.
It isn't that detectable I think. Afaik it depends on the way the script is written?

A. It's actually not, I've been using it for over 2 years and haven't been banned.
B. Actually the scripting is good, just tell him not to use noob scripts.
C. How does the community influence whether he will get banned or not?

Just tell him to use it for 8 hours a day but just say "I told you so"

Why would i say i told u so?
btw, who are the good scripters? so i can tell him not to use anything but certain users scripts.

sounds like your more interested in him being safe than he is. (its okay to experiment)

I've never used anything else than this site to bot in runescape, this community does enough as it is for me to need to look for another.

Because botting for 8 hours a day (using ANY program) will most likely result in a B&.

You can tell who good scripters are by looking at the comments that people have left on a script and by looking how much people have rated it. If its 5 stars and there are heaps of good comments, go for it.

lol @ 8 hours a day == ban btw. I usually went 24/7 with no breaks, single player.

Really? i didn't really think 8 hours was too much. i leave my bot on from 11:00 pm - 6:00 am when i wake up for school, is that bad? but it also messes up alot and during the night i wake up and its logged off, so i have to fix it. but do you think it is likely i will get banned?
also, at school now, my friend died with his equipment on in stronghold of security cuz theres a bot for that that auto banks at edge , etc. LUL he woke up and he was in lumby with obby cape, addy scim, and cb brace.

EDIT: apparently this script had 5 stars according to him, and tons of good comments. LUL.

Hmm, 24/7 is alot, i was thinking about making a newb acc and wcing with it 24/7 so that i could just transfer to main before it got banned. would this result in my main getting banned too? or does it not matter where the money goes?

Whenever you start using a new script on Powerbot, you have to watch it run a full loop until you are sure it can handle a few hours of iteration. If it screws up alot or the clicking is too fast or too exact, then that is a script you wouldn' t want to use. Another way to tell if a PowerBot script is worthy is the amount of revisions it has. If there is a high number of revisions, that usually means that the author has edited it several times and that they are dedicated to making it an up to date, well functioning script.

I guess it just comes down to personal preference, I have made a used the bot before and it is pretty nice and simple too use, the scripts there are also pretty decent although I think a high quality script from here is a lot better quality than most other scripts out there and will give a lesser chance of getting banned.

^^ Just my opinion at the end of the day.

I also have a friend who refuses to use Simba, because he can't figure out how.
Afaik jagrolls are very common for RSBot users.

the only reason simba would be not user friendly is because as of right now, we lack a script manager, and that the user actually sees the code(DeclarePlayers), and thinks "holy shit this is hard"

this is true. the looks are rather deceiving. at first when i joined the community.. in 2008?(idk thats what longevity says but i swore i was here before the big update pre 2007…) i thought it was super hard. but it doesnt take long to catch on. especially if you have some background to coding.

Most people have difficulty navigating a forum let alone actually writing something. I didn't understand the "how do I download bot" threads until I saw someone struggle with finding an RSBot download in real life :duh:
