Hi, I was wondering, do you people who know scar/simba really well, have like a previous background with other programming languages? Or is scar/simba something you can start and learn as your first? I am as you can see, new to this forum and stuff, I am interested in learning this language, but I don't have any background in other languages. Is it tough? Something you can learn as a first?
thanks :redface:

you can learn this as your first. Scar/Simba is very user friendly. Pascal is what got me into scripting. When I was nine and first learned about Scar and that I could auto runescape I became entranced in it and wanted to learn all I could. Then I started to move onto other languages. I only recently came back to it when simba was started. Good Luck. Read our tuts there very good.

PascalScript was/is my first programming experience.

I'm sure alot of people will automatically say "Oh yeah it's an easy language, piece of cake" to make themselves look cool, but like anything else it's not something you can learn over night. I'm in the process of getting to know it myself, but the best advice I can give you is just to look at how other scripts are made, use examples and I guarantee that'll be the easiest way for you to catch on to coding Scar/Simba. :)

It was my first language, started learning it when I was 12. It is one of the more simple languages, definitely a good first. But there is still a learning curve for sure.

Completely agree, I learn more from looking at how scripts are made than all the tutorials (though the tutorials are good so you know what you are looking at)
reading through tutorials teaches you what things do, but not so much the "how to apply" these things
pascal is a good foundation language, and a good one to start with

When you've worked with a handful of languages you start to see there's alot of similarities in all of them, the difference is their abilities and limitations. Some might be easier than others to work with but I really believe this factor is based on how long you've worked with it. For example, I know a great deal of people would argue that Java is the most complex of the programming languages, but for me, because I've worked with it for years, it's the most familiar and easiest to work with. So just give it some time, see if you can get in the swing of things, and once you've gotten pretty good with Pascal (ect…) then you'll find other languages are quite familiar, the first is always the hardest. ;)

You mean Pascal xD
PascalScript = Interpreter :)
Ontopic: Yes Pascal is a very good language to start with.

Pascal is pretty easy to start out with. Most other languages use braces to close code blocks, and it can confuse alot of beginners. Pascal however, uses the "begin" and "end" syntax, and I found it very easy to understand. Since I had already learned a good amount of Java before trying to tackle Pascal, it didn' t take me too long to get comfortable with the language.

learn python as your first language, the coding skills/techniques you learn will be useful forever, since you have to use correct scripting standards, and also its way easier than pascal.
