Computer tips for your mother

What are some quick things you wish your mother knew about computers?

I'm putting some useful info on the back of my business card so that people will keep it by their computer. I was going to go with some keyboard shortcuts since they are pretty standard and classic, but they are a bit boring. So what are some simple and easy tips?

If someone sends you a file over msn or through email with the extension .exe, don't run it.

Alt+Tab.
Windows Button + Right + Enter to shut down (Windows 7) fast.
Ctrl+Alt+Del to kill non-responsive tasks.

if something is not responding correctly, or you think you may have dled a virus

do Ctrl+Alt+Del

then go to task manager and end process of what you think it is, and DONT END THE PROCESS OR EXPLORER.EXE

Ctrl+Shift+Escape can get to the Task Manager faster than Ctrl+Alt+Delete in Vista+ machines.
When somethings too good to be true, it probably is (re pop-ups and spam e-mail etc.)
Um, Ctrl+C to copy, Ctrl+V to paste. (HATE watching my teacher use the damn buttons and not even right clicking)
Ctrl+T for a new tab, Ctrl+W to close current tab.
Not sure what else :p.

I usually tell the older folks stuff like, you don't need to type http:// and www in front of every website.. etc

most of them, even if they know the hotkeys, don't use them

I know you said no hotkey shortcuts, but I like them!

typing the name of a website and then pressing ctrl+enter adds the www. and .com
ex:
type google in address bar, press ctrl enter, turns into www.google.com and go's.

I love shortcuts too, ctrl 1-9 for tab 1-9 (never really got that much)

ctrl r for refresh (this way I can just sit on control and switch tabs / refresh)

I recently hotkeyed my mouse for refresh so even gettin lazier!

awesome trick for websites though with the ctrl enter, usually I just type like 2 letters and press the down arrow enter (because it's a site I go to a lot) but that's a nice thing to know

YES! My parents double click everything, bugs me to no end. Oh, and when you can't get the computer working properly, it's not your son's fault for his "coding viruses".
