Simba 0.96!

2011-02-05 11:08:25

Hi,

Simba 0.96 installer can be found here: http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Release/0.96rc/SimbaInstaller.exe

It contains several bugfixes and some additions:

  • Plugins can now export types.
  • Socket support.
  • GetProc/FindWindow functionality.
  • More hashing functions.

Do note that these is a API break in the Extensions; so Simba won't update itself for a week. It is highly recommended to reinstall Simba. Alternatively you can wait for the Simba auto update to kick in (a week from now); you'll also have to update your extensions manually after the update. See the news when you start Simba for more information on that. Sorry for that.

I'm trying to set this up on my friend's computer and the srl.sex extension doesn't download reflection. When I try to manually update, it says there's no update available.

Don't you mean the Updater.sex? srl.sex downloads srl only

No, the new srl.sex extension has the reflection part with it.

I'm talking about a fresh install (without having the old install). There's no reflection.sex in the new extensions.

I'll replace 750 with this version and test it soon, but it looks like a pretty nice improvement. Way to go. :)

Oh, my new version of simba is using the reflection.sex

updater.sei isn't even there O_O it it supposed to be '.sex' is that why?

Coh3n

2011-02-05 19:56:58

Its supposed to be .sei. I don't think its an actual extension, but used for adding updaters. Its so you can add an updater by calling one procedure. We'll just have to wait for Wizzup? To get up to find out what's up. I'm gone for the night anyway.

Just download reflection manually from https://github.com/SRL/srl-reflection

Yeah that's what I do for my machines, but I was trying to set it up for one of my friends. It would just be 1000x easier for it to automatically update for him. :p

I encountered the same problem.

Okay so what I did was download and enable the OLD SRL and Reflection extensions, and everything seems to be working fine. A temporary solution, but a solution nonetheless.

Downloaded from http://simba.villavu.com/bin/ (Extensionspre810.zip).

I might be over looking something very simple (and I'm almost positive that's the case) but for me it doesn't seem to read includes, or atleast the SRL.scar include.

Exception in Script: Unable to find file 'srl/srl.scar' used from ''

SRL.scar is in Includes > SRL > SRL.scar.
This is my SRL include loading declaration in the script:
{$i srl/srl.scar}
I even capitalized 'srl' thinking it was a simple characters misunderstanding but that didn't do the trick either.

So not sure if it's my own stupid mistake or if it's something worth mentioning about the new Simba release.

DISREGARD (Fixed by Wizzup)
Make sure you have srl.sex enabled, then follow these instructions:

  1. Check Reflection -> Settings -> Override Update
  2. Click Reflection -> Update.

Temporary, but whatever. I believe this is due to the Git repo and the SVN repo's revisions being mismatched.
/DISREGARD
Oh and by the way, DO NOT rename Updater.sei to Updater.sex. It is not a mistake as sei is Simba Extension include.

Edit: Mm, and also, if you get this when trying to run a Reflection script or include it:
Exception in Script: Unable to find file 'Reflection/Reflection.scar' used from ''
It is because the file is now named Reflection.simba instead of Reflection.scar.

Edit2: While I'm at it, I'll just post this even though it might not belong here :p.

  1. Adding hyperlinks to the debug box would be pretty useful (suggestion).
  2. These variables should be undeclared if they are not being used. I do know that it doesn't prevent it from compiling as it is a hint, but it is annoying and shouldn't occur.
[Hint] C:\Simba\Includes\SRL/SRL/core/antirandoms/forester.scar(329:3): Variable 'I' never used at line 328
  3. [Hint] C:\Simba\Includes\SRL/SRL/core/antirandoms/forester.scar(329:3): Variable 'CTS' never used at line 328 [Hint] C:\Simba\Includes\SRL/SRL/core/antirandoms/forester.scar(330:3): Variable 'P' never used at line 329 [Hint] C:\Simba\Includes\SRL/SRL/core/antirandoms/forester.scar(331:3): Variable 'OBJS' never used at line 330 [Hint] C:\Simba\Includes\SRL/SRL/core/antirandoms/forester.scar(332:3): Variable 'DONE' never used at line 331

Something is wrong with the server side, it returns version 0. That's why it won't update for anyone.

$ wget -O - http://wizzup.org/static/srl/srl_refl_version 2>/dev/null
0

It reports 244 now, I manually ran the updater script. I don't get what's going wrong yet, though.

$ wget -O - http://wizzup.org/static/srl/srl_refl_version 2>/dev/null

Is there a difference in how SRL is updated? because when I updated my simba the srl update went away, it only checks for reflecton now.

This happened to me as well, but for me if I remember correctly no includes came with Simba .96, so I had copied the Includes from .95 including SRL.scar, but .96 doesn't read it/cannot find it.

Perhaps the installer has the wrong title. But if you have Simba 810 you're definitely using the new installer (0.96). ;)

I am currently at the library. I downloaded http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Release/0.96rc/SimbaInstaller.exe and then clicked "Open".

I get a Windows pop up window that says:

"You must be logged in as administrator when installing this program."

Now, in the past, I have encountered this very same problem.

I wrote the following note to myself:

"Instead, use this link: http://www.moparisthebest.com/downloads/simba/current/Simba.i386-win32.2010-10-22_10_07.7z from http://www.moparisthebest.com/downloads/simba/current/ (Title: Index of /downloads/simba/current/)"

I follow the instructions above because I know that I can install Simba from the 7z file (by extracting using 7-Zip) without being the administrator.

Is there any reason that I cannot get the latest Simba download as a 7z file (or zip file or whatever) from http://villavu.com instead of having to wait for it to be posted on http://www.moparisthebest.com?

Sex

2011-02-07 19:17:48

You don't have to wait for it to be posted there, I believe Mopar builds it from the source nightly (it is really hourlies afaik). Also, obviously you must be logged as an Administrator, so go on an administrator. If that doesn't work, (and you're using Firefox) right click on the File in the downloads and then click Open Containing Folder. Find it and then right click and choose run as administator. It's worth a shot :p.

Thank you for the quick reply, Sex.

I downloaded Simba.i386-win32.2011-02-06_21_46.7z (with a Last Modified date of 2011-Feb-06 16:00:41) from http://www.moparisthebest.com.

I used 7-Zip to extract it.

I clicked on the .exe file.

The Windows console starts and text is printed in the console and then a Windows pop up window appears:

————————————–

Titile of the window: Simba.i386-win32

Error reading SCARHighlighter.AsmAttri.FrameEdges: Unknown property: "FrameEdges".

Press OK to ignore and risk corruption.
Press Cancel to kill the program.

Nah, it is 0.96rc. I didn't re-tag it as the RC is now simply the release. I would wait with tagging it as stable, though.

Wizzup?

2011-02-10 16:55:10

Actually, I think you can go ahead and tag it as stable. The code 8 error is not related to Simba 0.96. I have not seen problems in this thread that haven't been resolved (if needed at all :) ) since.

Yes; for more details see the Simba news. (In the debug when you start Simba)
You'll however need to update the extensions manually at the moment.
