maybe they do have a new detection system?

J2e asked:
If I help my friend giving him amounts of cash and some equipments, will that be considered as RWT? Considering Jagex doesn't know if you had IRL money for the eq/cash.

Mod Fetzki answers:
We are encouraging people to give other players gifts or lend them some equipment so before we accuse someone of cheating by buying gold we make absolutely sure that we can prove it.
What our exact criteria are, I won't reveal, though, for obvious reasons.
———————————————————————————————————–
“2.Aren’t you concerned with a resurgence of RWT? Because free trade makes transferring money a heck of a lot easier…”

We know that of course there will be those out to abuse free trade but we’re very on the case with that thanks to some very helpful tools and staff
————————————————————————————————————-
Moe Is 4210 asks:

How will you be able to differentiate from someone giving a gift to their friends as opposed to someone completing a real world trade transaction?

We have a specialist team of people who deal with cheating all day long, they have excellent tools at their disposal and can tell very easily the difference between people who are RWT and those who are just trading to friends.

Genuine players who wish to give things away have nothing to be worried about!
————————————————————————————————————–
“9. Do you have ways to detect RWT?”

Yep,
————————————————————————————————————-
Imah Slayer:
#1 Im not sure how to word this so im going to give you a situation. One player named "bob" gets a gift (50m) from his friend that is quiting. Another player "billy" buys 50m gold from some RWT site. How can you tell the diffrence between a bob and a billy?

Mod Fetzki:
The difference is that Bob won't get into trouble but Billy gets punished for cheating because we can tell the difference. We won't reveal how we do that though for obvious reasons.
————————————————————————————————————-
Snipervenm:
How will you guys try to prevent a rapid growth of macroing and RWT?

Mod Fetzki:
With various efforts like breaking bots, taking macro developers to court, banning or rolling back accounts that do real-world trading and/or macroing and many more things.
————————————————————————————————————-
Donzaloog20,
“1. how do you plan to stop RWT if you can mention anything at all, i know you can't mention exactly how you do this but are you able to confidently say that RWT will NOT be possible?”

The freedom of Free Trade does mean that RWT will be possible. Such is the way of free trade! However, we’ve done a lot of work in the background to minimise the risk. ; )
————————————————————————————————————–
Tomolonotron asks:

When the Free trade returns, my friend wants to give me about 20m, maybe an item worth more then 50m+ will we be able to do this without being detected as gold sellers? We've been on each others friends list for about 2 years.

Yep, we can tell pretty easily who is just genuinely trading and who is RWT, don’t worry!
—————————————————————————————————————
I Pot U Drop asks:

If someone bots 100m on an account and then gives it to a random person will they get banned for rwt or botting?

In our experience, most people who use bots don’t do it so they can randomly walk up to someone they don’t know and trade them 100 million for no reason.
—————————————————————————————————————-
Jarkur,
“Q1: Why Jagex planned to take such a big *risk* for bringing it actually back? as it was one of the biggest reason for causing RWT to actually happen?”

Hi Jarkur, I’ll be your mod mark for today. Because we’re in a position to be able to do it given all the work we’ve been doing and also, very importantly, because it’s something that the majority of the community clearly want.

Jagex certainly thinks highly of their awesome system they supposedly have now…

For the first few days/weeks, they'll probably be raping their 'new' system. After a while it'll (hopefully) die down, and RWT will be back.

When they are talking about bots, am not 100% sure whether they are talking only about java bots or all bots (including scar) or not. Call me naive but I believe that when handled with care, certain scarscripts can be 100% unbannable.

Onto the point about trading. Obviously if a character that is lvl 3 and just handed out 30mil by person x and given it to person y and never spoke after, person y is rwter. but compare it to two person that have been friends forever and traded 30 mil, they are obviously friends.

Just use common sense.

I wouldn't be surprised if they "tag" money piles, so if you earn a mass of cash on your bot, and they suspect you of said botting, then they'll be able to follow it around and see where it's transferred to. As they say, RWT and botting are almost entirely linked, which is probably highly true.

Other than that, they may have a criteria of IP address comparison (distance from 2 accounts trading, to judge whether they know eachother IRL), length of time on friend lists, interactions in game. Many things. They're a pretty big company, thus can afford to employ people to analyse all large cash trades.

Any other thoughts?

I'd imagine drop trade would be awsome :P unless they still keeps the 3k limit.
You could always go to public library, use a noob to kill your noob and kill the noob that killed the noob:)

Highly suspicious for 2 reasons:
1) All the IPs would be the same
2) If my fore mentioned "tagging" system theory was true, then they'd easily be able to find both the source and the person with the money currently.

Imo, remote connecting to somewhere else or using a proxy.. for a middle man account..

keep the items on that MM for a month or so then kill the MM in wildy with your main

if they claim to be able to distinguish between RWT and friends gifting, do you think they would also be able to tell if you're giving money to your main?? what would they classify this as? and how would they be able to say that its not giving to a friend??

the only thing i can think of is that they could compare IP's and the behavioral patterns between the two accounts, but thats all

I know many people who can only play at library / school where there are.. 50+ accounts that probably login a day if not more

I don't think IP is the first thing they take into consideration

good point, I didn't think of that. Then that leaves behavioral patterns, which wouldn't be to hard to fake, have your main be friends with your army and vice-versa, and then have dialog between the two accounts prior to trading

example:
>> "hey rob, ya know how i told you at school today I have a ton of money I don't know what to do with??"
>>"yea, I remember that"
>>"You want 10mil?"
>>"YEA!!"
>>"ok, here ya go"

you get the idea…

Better be safe then sorry? Why not take all the precautions? I would not like to risk all the money I got, that would end my playing for sure.

Yeah, definitely be safe, and take lots of precautions - it would suck to get a main banned. But at the same time, remember they aren't NASA. For example, there are plenty of ways they could prevent java based bots - but very few of them have been implemented.

RWT is easy to spot when a bot army is used to generate the gold, but near impossible to track if the money has been generated on one account in a legitimate manner (or using an undetectable bot).

There is quite a bit of people begging for money at the GE at the moment. You could pretend to be one of those people, and end up getting cash from some rich player. Either that, or if both your accounts are around the same combat, you could use the transferring account's money to buy a bunch of pking gear, kill them, and sell all of that gear back to the GE on the other account. If you're creative, Jagex won' t catch you.

Interesting tactic, Echo_.

I wonder if they really have upgraded their detection system? I noticed a lot of bots have disappeared. Prime spots are practically empty compared to earlier today.

Try not to get into too many habbits. Keep a variety going, imo. Long as you have a decent antiban script you should be safe.

seems a lot of people from jsp are just straight up trading 10m - 100m "RWT" and not getting banned… nothing..

They sued Quaters, the old dev of RSBot and are currently sueing Impsoft (you know, iBot/Nexus).

And I think it was that if Kbot refused to shut down, they were going to court as well.
