Disable smart stops the keyboard from working

Well if I am at my computer and I see someone write something on RS like wc level, ill pause my script and click disable smart to write something back, only to see my keyboard not working, then ill have to enable smart again and run the script and hope I don't get reported.

I remember facing this error a long time age when I use to script a lot (Back in 09?) and was just wondering if this was just my computer or if its a bug in smart that hasn't been reported/fixed in over 2 years

Just keep enabling/disabling it until it works. I have to do that sometimes when I'm trying to login.

Yeah just keep clicking enable/disable really fast like 10 times and it'll usually work :)

It also works the other way too, I spammed the disable/enable button once and it kept keyboard unlocked while SMART could also access it.

It would be really nice to be fixed.

I made a bug report on his Mantis bug tracker already and he told me it's pebcak :p

Well it shouldn't be up to the user to fix it, it should be up to the developer/creator, normally I do have to resort to pausing the script, disabling smart, trying to see if it works, and if it doesn't enabling smart then disabling it then retrying and repeating. It also looks bad when it takes ages for me to respond to a question like wc level because most people would respond pretty fast

That would so awesome if it were like RSbot, can type while its botting

beggars can't be choosers I always say. Sure it's a minor inconvenience, but it sure as heck beats playing RS legit or on a browser with Simba.

Yeah but it's just I remember having this problem a while ago and I think I reported it then so I was expecting it to be fixed pretty soon but now its 1.5-2 years since I last remember this problem (Only recently started scripting) and yeah just re-discovered this problem while trying to talk to someone

Sure thing Brian but still, to be the best you have to be the best. These small buggy issues should be fixed as it kinda brings its stock down…

Disable SMART -> Click your desktop -> Click SMART (On RuneScape, of course) -> Try to control your character.

If it doesn't work, repeat from "Click your desktop". That's the quickest way I've found. It usually takes 1 ~ 3 times to get it to work.

I remember from one thread that BenLand100 said that it is possible to use the keyboard while SMART is Enabled (So it'll be just like RSBot)
It's jsut not working as we want it it, is all

E: Yeah it works just fine for me. I just tested it :)
I clicked the RS part of SMART, then tryed to type something, it didn't work the first time, so I clicked the RS part of SMART again and tried once more

I've been trying to do what Zyt3x posted, and it doesn't work for me. No matter how many times..

It works on and off for me. I remember Ben saying something about it not working properly on Windows. Anyone tried on Linux?

I've found clicking in Simba 25-30 times really fast makes it work.

If you want it to work then disable smart then minimize smart then maximize it and start typing, this method never failed me.

Hmm so is this going to get fixed or is the solution to tell everyone who uses smart to click enable and disable

Well, IMHO its more important that its undetectable rather than convenient. The nature of the code that controls this part of SMART is rather… fickle. I've tried to minimise the negative impact, but it seems like every computer has a slightly different behavior on every computer, making it damn hard to fix. For myself, SMART works fine, and I haven't been able to recreate the bug to examine why it doesn't work as it should on other's computers. Everyone is using the same binary, so it must be a difference in your individual java installations. What that difference could be, I do not know.
