[discussion] Mouse keys

Using the windows Mouse Keys functions is mentioned in many of the articles on rs.wikia.com. According to them, dropping an inventory, say full of trout and salmon, is 2 to 3 times faster than dropping by hand. Could we emulate mouse keys with Simba? Doing so would be very effective on our xp/cash per hour rates, and imo is actually pretty human like.

(More info at RS Wiki's article on Mouse keys)

Here's a gif of mousekeys btw, and mouse keys can be used for lots of other stuff too

You can find videos on youtube of people getting like 720k exp/hr for cooking using mousekeys.

MouseKeys is just a ClickMouse and MoveMouse, right?

Recently, it has been discovered that mousekeys can act in a different way on some keyboards and generate repeated outputs if keys are pressed simultaneously and held down. If this can happen on your keyboard, it would be best to avoid doing this so that you aren't flagged by the macro detection system. There has not yet been a clear official statement on whether this is allowed or not (it seems that it should not be allowed due to the clear violation of the one input, one output rule, however).

You misunderstood. I know what mouseKeys is, I'm saying what action it is programmed to do in this example is just a ClickMouse and a MoveMouse.

Ah OK, sorry. My bad. In that case, I don't know.

From what I've seen from RSBot and that animation on this page, it is extremely fast. For Dropping and probably alching. What else would it be useful for, and how do we implement this into our scripts.

  • Dropping fish
  • Dropping ore
  • Emptying rune essence pouches
  • Anything else that you don't have to click on the main screen (and maybe for things that you do need to but dont move you could)

Are people just going to ignore what Hugolord said?
I see no future for this in SRL, sadly.

MouseSpeed := 99; if u want to drop fast :). Or use clickmouse.

If anyone thinks this has no future, go download RSBot and run godless fisher. Turn Mousekey dropping on, and compare it to any other powerfisher. The only part that they said MAY be illegal is the use of holding down multiple numpad buttons to cause repeated actions.

It is not illegal to use for powerdropping or anything like that.

There is often confusion about whether Mouse keys are legal or if they are considered macroing. Mouse keys are officially not considered macroing; they are allowed by Jagex because they are an accessibility option that is included in many operating systems. Players still have to manually press each click, so the program is not a "macro".

They even have posted pictures of Jagex mods confirming its alright.

As long as its one input one output action, they allow it. As the quote Hugo posted mentioned, you have to be careful with it.

The hard part would be making sure Simba replicates it the same on every ones computer.

That is what I'm wondering as well. If anyone knows a way to implement this now using maybe unique parameters for each computer or something? I would love to hear about it. Is it just gonna be a matter of simulating those keystrokes once the distances are figured out?

Is there anyone active here that knows the method used in the RsBot script i mentioned. Wasn't one of the starters of RsBot once active here? Spelljohan I believe?

Typed it out below.

Any "accessibility" program (such as voice recognition or mouse keys) will be identified by our detection systems and won't be seen as macroing.

Using a genuine accessibility program is not breaking the rules.

~MMH~

I make no claim that it is genuine, but a search on the RS forums turns up similar posts about mouse keys being allowed (posts made by players). There are similar photos that prove it on wikia.

Edit:
Just realized Narcle pretty much said the same thing.

'Any "accessibility" program' vs 'use of accessibility programs' worries me a bit. I might be reading into the wording too much, but it seems like an invasion of privacy.

This isn't the legal department…

And tbh its probably a completely bullshit statement.

We would have to simulate a number key press or something as well.

kitchenrange

2011-01-29 15:48:58

Ok, thats what I was thinking. Is there any way for Scar to change the distances that are set in for the Mousekeys? I'm guessing that somehow Rsbot can, because it works perfectly on any computer I try it on.

If not, this would just have to be something each person added personally to any script they use…. which would be lame.

If mouse keys are enabled in windows, when simba presses a button, will it perform the mouse key operation?

Perhaps, that would even be better though :D.

I was saying this because what if they get suspicious and check what keys were pressed. If it shows a number they would be like, "oh yeah they just using mousekeys."

The biggest problem I see is the mouse sensitivity effects how far your mouse goes down when you do the 2 button to go down (when going down to click "drop")

Nothing, it's figuring out exactly how we should move the mouse to emulate using mouse keys.

I tried that, it doesn't work with them enabled it just has "5" appear, it doesn't click.. whereas if I press the 5 button on the num pad it works.

just in simba itself, not even having anything to do with rs / smart etc

Well here's my thinking not 100% sure. Can't Jagex detect if you press the 5 key on the numberpad? If they detect that your mouse is moving such as mousekeys without pressing 5 then BOOM macro flagging. Also how would we get around the issue of when we send the 5 key to simulate mousekeys wouldn't it write a 5 in the text box?

Windows catches the event at doesn't push it, so virtually they shouldn't be able to detect it (At least to my understanding).

Why take the risk? Do you really want that 20% faster experience?

If you play legit than sure, get all the extra experience you can as time is of the essence, but if you're botting do you really want to improve your chances of getting banned just for that extra little percentage you won't care about at the end of the day? You didn't invest the time anyways what's the difference…

It's faster than 20%… according to some websites it's 2 to 3 times faster.

They probably mean the dropping process, I mean the bonus experience gained out of the quicker process (which might go up with levels and depend on skill trained,) but honestly all this does is pushes me to push jagex to create a better way to drop items quickly, because even for legit players it's a huge pain in the ass.

Using the mouse keys is for "legit players" and it's legal according to jagex.

My friend can drop his full inventory in like 5-10 seconds, he's insanely fast

dude 20% is huge.

Any script I write is made to work as efficiently as possible. This is one of those things.
If we weren't going for every "20%" we could get, we would still be at SRL 1.

I'd like to bump this back up. I've tried simulating the numberpad keys required for the 'dropping' part of this method and end in the end all I get is typed numbers. I wonder if Simba even has support for MouseKeys in such a way? In either case, this would give us a huge advantage for atleast power: mining/fishing/woodcutting. I can think of more.

Kyle Undefined

That would be awesome to use, but we'd have to make it in a way that it isn't detected as a bot.

Just make it simulate the clicks, ie. mousekeys jumps the mouse ## pixels below, so move it that much?
