Concerning the new bot detection system on the 1st.

I searched the forums before posting this and didnt see anything concerning the new update on the 1st. however, correct me if im wrong.
So, a great friend of mine irl has informed me that jagex will be implementing a new bot detection system (maybe not a NEW one, but an update?) So, i was wondering if anyone else has heard anything, because he has heard this from numerous people that have been playing the game for a very long time. so i was wondering if there is truth about this, if they really are implementing a new system, and whether i should take it slow for a few days after and see what happens. If you do believe that there will be one, what do u believe they will implement? because this could mean alot of trouble for many of SRL's members. and also SRL itself, but im sure we'll pull through (:
And now for my second concern, the same person has told me that there is a rumored mass ban, so, this could mean that jagex has been looking at people play, and have been collecting a large list of suspected bots. if this is true.. it will be bad.
Jagex has always had this motto. "When in doubt, MASS BAN." they love using their ban hammers. its the only feeling of true power that they have.
Anyways, please give me your thoughts, and concerns on these matters. much appreciated. (:

Keep in mind they said they were going to do a mass ban last year at the Runescape Convention….
If they are i can guarantee 95% of them will be from RSBot. The other 5% will be the heavy srl autoers who dont give a fck (me)
I doubt i will be banned. As i have a huge army.
I say, grow balls. They should have popped out when you hit that "Run" button on Simba.

In my opinion, I felt that jagex would put a new bot detection system into the game with the upcoming update on feb. 1st. I never auto so I have nothing to worry about. We can only wait and see.

Wow thats a first, an SRL member that doesnt auto (:
also, what exactly is an "army." i understand that it is a large amount of accounts owned by the same person, and that they auto with. but, do they auto them ALL at the same time? or do they just alternate through each character, thus why there are more than one character slot setups on scripts.
the reason i ask, is because wouldnt running say 5 chars at once be really laggy on ur machine? because i run jsut one at a time, and with MSI scripts, when it goes to paint the colors and click something, there is a decent lag, not too bad, but decent. which would just be amplified with more clients opened and running, correct? also, the lag is WAY worse on some of my friends computers.

An army is just a lot of characters. But if you have sufficient amount of players, you can bot more than one at a time for sure.

The reason as to why I don't auto is because I only have a main which I am not willing to risk. Even if that means spending time actually doing things myself haha. It's NOT because I don't have the knowledge. I'm currently under 130k away from 93 slayer.

I usually bot with 2 scripts, 5 characters on each. That should be smooth enough, 30-40 minutes on each character.

thats a good idea, but i like getting really high stats on a char,
is it bad that i just bot my pure like, overnight? and thats it?
and RS pro, why dont u make a pure, bot that , and then transfer money to main?

It's at least better than botting 24/7.
and the main reason people use armies, I think, is to either get gold for their main account (whether it be a pure or high level), or to sell for real life money. Because free trade is just coming back, you can expect them to get much more popular now. Some people use multiple members of the army at the same time, others set up scripts so they take turns.

thats true, but do u think im likely to get banned?
also, nobody here has any idea of what they might implement/or do?
like, how it would detect our bots. etc..?

If the account is free to play, I would only bot for around 8 to 10 hours a day max. If your account is pay to play, then 10 to 12 is suitable.

That's still grounds for banning (See
the official runescape rules, multiple logging in, specification 4.)

I'd say probably not, just because most people using Simba/SCAR probably auto more than that, and most of us don't get banned (as far as I know :p). It's really dependent on the script you're using.
People here have said they could easily detect with an update whenever someone is using SMART, RSBot, etc. so they may do that, but I wouldn't worry about them targeting us considering we're such a small percentage of botters. Also, a lot of people are guessing they're going to start linking accounts.

And yes, we are a small community, but i would say we do have VERY advanced bots. im sure RS knnows about us, and that they definitely dont like us. also, im pretty positive they probably have a "spy" of some sort. even for a small community like this.
and true, 10-12 hours a day botting is okay, and probably not ban-likely, which is good, because i am p2p and bot only from 9 pm - 7 am.
and yes, i am afraid they will implement a type of feature that snaps an SS (screenshot) of what ur using.. would this be illegal? invasion of privacy? or something? idk, i think its possible. which would be bad news.

1) They could / can legally do that right now if they want.
2) They already do this. When you run the game applet for the first time (it checks "remember this choice" by default), you click agree on that.

yeah i dont think they love us… unless its a stunt for the public.. which i highly doubt.
but yeah i can see the douschers taking screenies. but i was also thinking of something that detects like, where we click, and can sense if its human-like or not.. idk, im not fully sure on the prospect but it sounds like something "high tech" that they would implement. also, i love how legit players think randoms are there just to reward u with like. xp and stuff, but theyre actually to catch us, LOL.

They already do this, that's why we have randomness in our mouse functions, random times between the key presses in our typing functions, and antiban. The rest of our unbanability comes from the fact that we use color, so we play like a human does.

Competition
Constantly learning from the botters and making their stuff better.. while the botters, a lot of them, pay for a membership or two
banning us, does what? Makes us want to get better and do it more.. banning won't stop us they know that
Also I doubt their new system is going to be anything amazing…
Yeah, they are probably all from rsbots. Cause right after updates, sw and hunting areas all gets cleared :P.
@donkey60000
In my opinion; the rank of SRL member is showing of scripting ability and doesn't have a strong correlation with botting. Obviously there are SRL members that bot, but I bet most of them (Including me) are there for the scripting challenges that we can face as a community or just slack off after getting mem (which is ftw:P).

Jagex allows bots go run for a long time after being detected to make it 'sting' more when you do get banned.
For example, over the past 3 weeks I've been keeping an eye on an auto nature-crafter who raised from 85 to 96 Runecrafting in just that amount of time, gaining a Runecrafting lvl per day even in the 90's! All the time in the same world, so I would report him every time I saw him. I saw him get to lvl 96 Runecrafting and the next day his Rc level was reset to 12 and I'm assuming all the runes he had made was erased. You can check out his adventure log, his name is "WakingDawn".

oh yes i very much agree with you. im sure that they do let you bot for an extended time so that they could A. perma ban you. and B. make sure that your really botting. I hope kids like that RCer dont come to SRL.. because, sure, this community is built on the base of bots. but SRL is much more than that. not just a community, but a close knit family, and in my beliefs, i prefer to keep it that way. because thats what makes SRL what it is. the community. the users. (: which is why i love this place.
but why do you report him? does he bot 24/7? if so then thats understandable, but if he bots like.. 8 hours a day its not that bad.
and, i use the same world.. always.. is that bad? its one of my fav worlds tho.. 69. and theres not a lot of wcers there. so its nice.
for the record, if anyone sees anyone with donkey (non specific due to fear of an infiltrator.) in there name, dont report them d: could be me. especially if i be wcing.

Quite simple really. It's the same reason why Valve Anti Cheat has delayed bans – so people won't just edit their bots/hacks to instantly bypass it and find out what's detectable.

Alas, there is little or no information as to how Jagex detects bots. From what we gather reporting sends:
- a small one-minute legend of the activities after the report. Thats why a script always should stop when someone has reported you, so no data is send.
- Unknown is what Jagex stores, compares and concludes. Mouse movements, clicks and colors clicked can be stored because this data is send to Jagex during runtime.
Predictions- Many Java-bots will be banned.
- The Java-code will have been altered, thus Java bots all break. A couple of new nifty tricks/techniques will have been implemented making sure java bots can be detected better. But as always hackers will find their way around this. It will take some time.
- Different GUI. Maybe even the classic look will vanish, That would be really nasty for us.
- Different fonts. They have done that on numereous occasions just to confuse us.
- Different Colors for outline, background etc.
- As for GE, now is a good time to invest in yews and all other goods produced by bots.
My guess is: we'll be in for a lot of work Feb 1st!

Jagex will never be able to completely stop autoing, its just not possible.

To be honest, they probably won't ever fully take down SRL. The community does not profit from it. The good scripts are terribly hard to detect (thus a challenge for the detection team). There are always new, incredible ideas being brought up in the public forums. If nothing else, the SRL community is a pool of information for Jagex.

I know for a fact that almost 100% of bots (would say 100% but there might be some exceptions I don't know about) are detectable just by monitoring clicks - whether Jagex has implemented the system I have in mind, I don't know (but I do have a hunch).
Just sayin… be careful.

They shou'dve banned the bots a long time ago, because iirc they posted that in the first week alone like 46billion worth of gp was traded, which is enough to ban atleast a few hundred thousand bots and i think they also said they already implemented their detection system before releasing wildy(not sure though)

Yeah, I think it has been implemented. I think they are just waiting for people to get lazy about transferring (and waiting to catch as many as possible for the mass banning).
Or they could just be lying through their teeth - but I still don't think its worth taking any risks.

Or maybe they don't want to ban paying customers and don't care.
Ban a few major abusers selectively and just make $ off the rest as long as the complaints aren't too over whelming.

I understand why they wouldn't want to ban p2p bots, but i don't see why they aren't banning the free ones.
