Hello there,


this is the place to change your nickname! We're going to do some things differently compared to the old thread. Here's how it goes:

• You can only change your name once every 12 months
• You'll get a 2 week try-out period. If you don't like it, we revert it, but you still loose your chance to change your name for 12 months.
• You can change your name to a name that has been taken by an inactive account. This means a user who hasn't logged in for at least 24 months, has 0 posts and is < junior member.
• Please keep your old username in your signature for a week or two for people to get used to your new name. (Something like "Formerly known as nielsie95" will do).
• We hold the right to revert the namechange. If we do, you'll get another chance.
• Use common sense! Namechanges to nielsie96, administrator1, Pasta Magician and the likes will not be allowed.
• Capitalizations are allowed without a time limit, but keep it reasonable and make up your mind.

If you want to request a namechange, use the following format: [old name] -> [new name]
If the change is not clear, please clarify it a bit (what exactly needs to be changed).

Examples:
nielsie95 -> HenkDaVries
"Wizzup?" -> "Wazzup!"

As of 07/13/2013 you will need to do a password recovery (Click Here) after your username has been changed. This is due to our new encryption methods using the username as part of the hash generation.

For admins: please add a user note the account with the date and before+after name (not needed for capitalizations).

I've also let Wizzup know so he can fix it up on the SRL Stats end when he has a chance. So if suddenly it doesnt let you log in, try grats instead of gratz :)

I know it is right under everyone's noses but you might want to add as a rule or something that they have to search for the name and confirm before hand that it is not in use. Tell them to go to http://villavu.com/forum/memberlist.php and search the the name that they want. Then they have to go to the profile page and copy paste(with link) the names activity. Probably make it even simpler for you guys to change it when its all confirmed on page(or at least within 1 click).

Just be patient. Eventually an admin will come across and do the changes. They are human too after all.
You are kind of rude considering it's an extra they give to you and it's not default that you can change your name. At least that's how I think of it.

how does that make me rude all i did was ask how long it would take. if u take a look people have been waiting months i wasnt sure if this thread was still active. if you've got nothing helpful to say dont say it just for the sake of getting your post count up.

He's saying you're being rude because this is something that doesn't happen on many forums and you're complaining about how slow it is here. You should be happy it's even possible to get your name changed. Sorry if I sounded harsh, that wasn't my intention. Just be patient like he said.

P.S. He's an SRL Member which takes time and work to get. I doubt he cares more about his post count than trying to help you out so don't be rude to him.

i understand that but the thing is i wasnt complaining about it being slow i simply just asked how long it would take. i was fine with him telling me to be patient, what anoyed me was him calling me rude there was no reason for it.

He has two posts, one still available and the other long gone. The available one is not one that benefits the community or would be harmed by his name being altered.

this is the place to change your nickname! We're going to do some things differently compared to the old thread. Here's how it goes:

• You can only change your name once every 12 months
• You'll get a 2 week try-out period. If you don't like it, we revert it, but you still loose your chance to change your name for 12 months.
• You can change your name to a name that has been taken by an inactive account. This means a user who hasn't logged in for at least 24 months, has 0 posts and is < junior member.
• Please keep your old username in your signature for a week or two for people to get used to your new name. (Something like "Formerly known as nielsie95" will do).
• We hold the right to revert the namechange. If we do, you'll get another chance.
• Use common sense! Namechanges to nielsie96, administrator1, Pasta Magician and the likes will not be allowed.
• Capitalizations are allowed without a time limit, but keep it reasonable and make up your mind.

If you want to request a namechange, use the following format: [old name] -> [new name]
If the change is not clear, please clarify it a bit (what exactly needs to be changed).

Examples:
nielsie95 -> HenkDaVries
"Wizzup?" -> "Wazzup!"
