Script Section

Make sub sections in the Public Script section, for each skill, like the rsbot forum has? Instead of having every script for every skill in one section where the user has to go through everything …

Rsbot has it like this, we should do something similar

Sub-Forums:

1. Requests
2. AntiBan & Randoms
3. Combat
4. Mining & Smithing
5. Fishing & Cooking
6. Fletching & Crafting
7. Woodcutting & Firemaking
8. Magic
9. Agility
10. Thieving
11. Farming & Herblore
12. Summoning
13. Hunter
14. Runecrafting
15. Money Making
16. Minigames
17. Others
18. Legacy (Archive)

Click the little image near the thread.

Like if you click the pickaxe you get http://villavu.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=64&prefixid=Mining

There is already something like that, you have to click the icon next to the script to see a list of all scripts in that section.

But we have no where near as many scripts as PowerBot, and there'd only be a couple in each section. The icon system works fine.

Fully agreed with cycrosism, thats the way it used to be and is better imo. Especially once the forums get more active again - at the moment it looks cluttered and will get worse.

yeah and it will also be easier for people to find scripts, even if it only had a couple per section. Most people like me wouldnt have known to click on the icon

i remember when it used to be like that was alot easier to find a script to fit your purpose easier

I liked the old one more too. Never liked the new.
Not that I use any script :p.

I still think this idea should get added

I'm for it. The old system was way better.

Yeah I like this idea, I support it.

I believe the original plan was to eventually convert back to the old system once we became more active again.

Also, some sub forum with scripts that are not working and haven't been updated in a certain amount of time.

Flight

Yeah the outdated scripts, while even though they don't work, there's still probably useful code written in the script that can be used in others, or even a simple fix to make it currently compatible.

@Hobbit: Are we not considered active at this point?

We are, but not as active as we used to be. Also I totally agree with OP.

Before your time, if you watched iSpy (http://villavu.com/forum/vaispy.php) you had to use the pause button in order to click an interesting topic, if not then that thread would disappear in a second.

it used to be like this. we used to have subforums. but i believe the icon way does work better. with less scripts this is the ideal way.

I think it's time to carry through with the plan then.

I'm assuming we've lost activity because of the other bots going around, aka PowerBot, neXus, kBot, ect..?

Maybe it's time we step up the scripts then, and maybe it's time I get back into Rs macros. ;)

I would be more motivated to script if I knew my script wouldn't have to compete with every other script for attention, the old system seems better.

The old system does work better. Its more efficient. We should also have a team of people going through and closing threads with outdated scripts or updating them.

Isn't there already a sectional moderator or moderators for the scripting section? If there are, then it would be their job. Also, how long would the script have to go un-updated before it gets moved to the sub forum?

I do like this idea though, it makes the forums more user friendly.

That sounds good in theory but it's a mess in practice.
There always has to be debate about if a script works or not, scripters coming back, etc. etc.
