Hi,

Simba 0.96 installer can be found here: http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Release/0.96rc/SimbaInstaller.exe

It ships with Simba 810. I'm calling this a Release Candidate (RC) because I haven't had the time to test it myself. It contains a few additions since 0.95:

$ git shortlog simba-0.95..simba-0.96rc --no-merges|cat
John P (Dgby714) (5):
Simba: small try .. except
Extensions: Removed mask on ScriptText and added function GetSelectedText.
Simba: Added procedure SocketInfo.
Extension: Paster Update.
Simba: Socks Update.

Merlijn Wajer (9):
Documentation: Some scriptref documentation.
Documentation: A few fixes.
XPChars: Add new character by Icefire
Extensions: MSI Installer.
Windows Installer: Add msi.sex to the installer.
Documentation: Bitmaps is nearly done.
Documentation: Files documentation is done.
PascalScript: Fix Wait() with negative values.
DTM Editor: Catch exception in case of invalid DTM

Nava2 (2):
Updated security.sex because of issues with Directories not being saved.
More changes, should fix some issues with errors in the smaller parts of extension, should run better as a whole now.

Please give it a go. See if you can run scripts with it just like with Simba 750. I generally believe it works well but I'd like get a little bit of input before I let everyone update to 810.

Notes to self / need to resolve:

… and I helped!

But seriously, nice job. These were all important issues that were unfortunately addressed after 0.95 was released >.<

Why isn't there an updater for extensions anyways?

Well my beta scripts aren't for Runescape, but I'll sure give it a go irregardless. Nice work Dev. team.

So… Is this stable? Or not? for my autobuild script?

(for those who want to run this on other platforms: http://www.moparisthebest.com/downloads/simba/unstable/2011-01-15_11_22/ )

Might sound nooby but that doesn't make SMART work on Linux does it?

Yeah but at the moment I am running the windows native version of Simba on Ubuntu and SMART doesn't work.
I was wondering if the Linux native version would fix.

You need to install Java into WINE.

Yeah, the latest from Oracle should work.

 • People who use the auto updater need to update their extensions manually.

This is a serious issue; as the extensions aren't actually backwards compatible, AFAIK. So perhaps we need an extension updater built in (for the time being anyway) before we release 0.96?

E: Can someone else try to put the Simba.exe from this installer into his old Simba directory and see if there are problems with extensions?

SMART has always worked on Linux. But Simba's script engine currently doesn't.

To fix your problem, you just need to install Java into wine, just like everyone else said.

No problems here

Has the "error line" issue ever been looked in to? I mean how it doesn't highlight the correct line if there are a lot of comments in the script (i.e. function headers). It's just rather annoying.

E: Also, when I install this, should it still say this in the debug?

Version 750 has been released. You can find the thread on
http://villavu.com

Simba 0.94 (Installer) has also been released. It contains the new
extensions.
If you installed Simba 0.93 or lower, you may want to update your
extensions.
What I did was downloaded the installer and ran it. I didn't uninstall any previous version as I just assumed it would overwrite.

Everythings running well, currently testing this script with it:
http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?p=771536

working great

extensions are working too, I see no problems with them.. they're updating.

I'll be using MSI later, a few different scripts I'll edit this post if anything is wrong with simba

after about half a day of running this, it's working… updates… everything is going fine

I've only tested it with 5 different scripts but they're all doing fine with reflection

Been very busy with a project (study). Project is now finished and I have some work to finish before I can focus myself on this. Should be one or two days, max. Zyt3x helped me find out what extensions did break due to the ABI change for Extensions and none of the updaters broke, only development tools. So developers can just grab the latest ones to have fixed development tools, while leechers can still use the old updaters. (If updating the extensions is too much of a hassle)

Looks like newly installed versions of this simba 0.96 (RC1) without previous versions of SRL & MSI don't update them (or even install them)

Automatically.. that is

Using the SRL & MSI tabs on the top to "check for updates) gets them in there..

All of them are checking for updates.. in the debug box
and say stuff like "No Reflection update"

The virtual machine where I had the older version of simba and then installed the new version over it (new version = this thread version) it updates them correctly

not sure what's going on.. but clicking the "check for updates" manually makes them update correctly

Yeah, the extensions are incompatible with older Simba versions and vice-versa.

What about python scripting? is it implemented?
I saw a planning of this very long ago and I said (to myself) I will start developing in Simba once it supports python. Should I start now?

Sadly, no. It will be a bit until that happens. Libmml needs to be done, and then pymml needs to be done, and then SPyRL possibly. And nobody's really working on.. any of that.

Sadly :( It could make some kind of revolution in macro development; Many people stay away from it because of Pascal.
Also, weak typing is perfectly suitable for macro scripting. Scripts will be at least 30% smaller in length.

Trust me, I know. :/ I want it to happen. You could help possibly? ;o PM me if you want.

Really what needs to be done is exporting all the methods in Simba to libmml. After that, pymml needs worked on, which will just be the python version of libmml, kinda.

Getting a bit off topic though, so post in the MML forum if it relates to MML stuff. ;)
