MSI and SRL Stats

Has anyone had success getting MSI to report to the new SRL Stats?

I have 40+ hours (maybe more) running the various wc features of msi and have yet to get it to successfully report to the stats.

I notice it only tries at the end of the script, rather than say after each load, or when taking a break.

Even then 50% of the the time it doesn't even bother attempting to report. The few times it does try to report the log shows invalid username/password even though I have entered the exact same username/password I have used to register to the new srl stats site.

Not the end of the world, but would be nice for the stats to show something other than 0 hrs forever and ever.

Note: User ID.
Go to your account page on SRL Stats then look at the navbar and you will see your ID.

Actually I have tried both: User Id, and when that failed to work, User name.

I will change it back to user id again and try it again.

Yes, stats works just fine, and it sends reports to the server after every load, not when the script it finished.

Also, it's not the User ID, the the name and password you use to login to the site.

It's working perfectly fine for me and the several others (if you look at MSI's stats).

I wish I could get a straight answer on this:

One says USERNAME and password from the Stats site. This does not in fact work for me. I have copy/pasted it directly to ensure no typos.

One says USERID and password from the Stats site. This does not work for me either.

I wonder if it matters that there is a space in my username? Just a wild random thought.

I just went through the whole stats user list, and unless you used a different name then on this forum, or I missed it, you aren't on it.

E: Nvm, I missed it. :p Sorry, I honestly don't know. This is probably something you should post in the Stats development forum.

Let me test my physic powers:

Your stats password does not contain uppercase letters.

After a bit of poking around a bit in the mess that is msi code found what is going wrong. Still not sure where/why.

All of which begs the question: Why is there a Stats.simba in the msi codebase if it isn't used? Spent some time sidetracked there trying to figure out why my debug edits weren't having any effect. Was (briefly) excited when I realized that file had the wrong submit url in it.

Anyway placing some debug code in the srl stats submit function I see my password is mangled into all lowercase at that point. Haven't had time to figure out if this is a msi/srl thing.

Edit: Too bad MSI isn't scar compatible. At least you could step through the code and try to wade through it. Where is my watch list…I want a full blown Delphi…wahh. Okay I'm finished with my meltdown.

Edit2: Alternately if stats would let you change your password I would change my pass to all lowercase and let it be someone else's problem hehe.

Edit3: Damn this not allowed to double-post! The SetupSRLStats function in the base SRL code library converts your stats password to lowercase. The comments in the code (wrongly) state the password is not case sensitive. Removed the lowercase conversion and IT WORKED!!! So is this a SRL bug or a Stats bug? Not sure where to report this.

The issue is likely with your password, yes.

Stats recently got included in SRL, with the older system it was a requirement of the scripter to include the code in their script. So that is likely remnants, I honestly haven't looked through it.

If you've debugged SRL and it shows you what you want, it's an SRL thing ;)

SCAR isn't really compatible with much (inb4 people bitch and moan about this statement, go bother yourselves on all the other threads), especially MSI. Simba is SRL specific and hence works better (imo) with SRL. Also, going through the code in SCAR is the same as Simba, you look line by line at it and understand the exact same, if I understand your complaint correctly.

Either way, 30 seconds of looking has lead me to the problem. In stats.simba (located in SRL/SRL/misc) you will notice this code:

procedure SetupSRLStats(ScriptID: integer; UserName, UserPass: string);
begin
stats_Timer := GetSystemTime;
stats_ScriptID := IntToStr(ScriptID);
stats_Username := LowerCase(UserName);
stats_UserPass := LowerCase(UserPass);
stats_RandNames := ['leo the gravedigger', 'freaky forester', 'maze',
'prison pete', 'evil bob''s island', 'drill demon',
'quiz', 'surprise exam', 'mollys evil twin', 'pinball',
'sandwich lady', 'bee keeper', 'pillory', 'capn arnav',
'abyssal teleport', 'certer', 'mime', 'frog', 'trade',
'mod', 'fight', 'lamp', 'bird nest', 'death'];
SetArrayLength(stats_RandSolved, Length(stats_RandNames));
end;

Emphasis on this:

stats_UserPass := LowerCase(UserPass);

Someone simply thought that it should be lowercase I suppose. Removing the lowercase will allow your password to be sent correctly.

I hope you find this works, if not you're very welcome to PM myself or any other MSI member.

E: You ninja'd me, but this is an SRL bug. You may report it where you see fit, in the Stats section (Thread titled 'Include to commit to stats' or something) or the SRL bugs section.

Yeah, post about that in the Stats Development section as I'm not sure if it would effect anything else. I'm sure it won't, but just in case. Also, there is no Stats.simba in MSI, it was removed as soon as the new stats was implemented.

If the case problem is solved on the stats api side the Lowercase can be removed. Was only added as before it wouldn't allow cases to be sent and would return false.

My apologies if you felt I was taking a shot at you/the msi team. Definitely not my intent.

When I first started this thread I had no clue where the problem was: All I knew was msi scripts would not report correctly to stats.

It seems to be an srl issue, so I will figure out where to post and report it as a srl problem.

Passwords don't have to be lowercase. Please fix. :)
