Check Level

I set up my new account I'm working on at Varrock east bank with his 1337 bronze pickaxe and level 1 mining. For my rock array, i put [ROCK_COPPER, ROCK_IRON], instead of [ROCK_COPPER, ROCK_TIN]. By doing a quick check the the message in the chatbox (it says something along the lines of "you need a higher level to mine this rock") and checking what rock it last clicked, the rock could be eliminated from the array. If the array got to the point it was empty, set player to false and move on.

It's minor, but could come in handy with bad setups.

Yeah you're right. That could actually be done during player setup. Right when the player logs in it compares the skill level to the rocks/trees/etc. in the array.

I agree with this. :) Surprised it wasn't done earlier to be honest.

I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but yeah the player's level could be compared to the index for the object instead of checking for the chat box every time you click a rock.

I disagree, kinda. I think, rather than just completely ignoring it, check the level, then mine whatever it can until it can reach that level.

So, in your situation, it would check to see that it doesn't work, then continue mining copper (quite honestly I think it should mine copper and tin if either is there, as long as it's power mining) until it reaches level 15. Then it would mine iron the rest of the time.

^ Makes a lot more sense to me. Maximizes experience/hr.

Yeah like a 'Level' attribute could be added to TMSObject, then it's just compared to the players level for each object in the array. Be something like

with MSI_Players[CurrentPlayer] do
if (MSI_Objects[Scripts[i].Trees[j]].Level > ReportInfo.SkillLevels[i]) then
MSI_Debug('Our level is too low to interact with object: '+MSI_Objects[Scripts[i].Trees[j]].Name);
I sure that's confusing to you. :p

exp/hr for iron at level 15 (ESPECIALLY with a bronze pick) is terrible.

Yes, but could still have the option.

Name 1 situation where the xp/hr would improve.

I'm pretty sure it would be faster exp than tin or copper.

It wouldn't, but some people may want to bank the iron for money instead of the extra experience.

And I'm still prettttttty sure that at some point iron would be faster exp than copper/tin, depending on where you're at.

Well yes, eventually. :p

E: Just thought about something for this: have the object finding algorithms compare the levels so if the user wants, they set the player to mine tin/copper/iron and until it gets to level 15, it will just skip iron altogether, rather than delete it from the array. That way it will still mine iron once the level is high enough.

I feel a simple check if you can mine that 'iron' and if you cant, remove it from the array would be enough(maybe have an Alert saying MSI removed the rock from the array). I don't think switching rocks/tree when you reach a certain level would be the best idea as of now. I suggest we finish all current open projects :p

This isn't really a project. ;) I'd just have to add the check I posted further up on the page to an object finding function and it should be good. That being said, things are never that easy. There are a few things I need to get done before this anyway, so this will get added to my list. :p

What my point was is that doing what I suggested and what was previously suggested would take about the same about of time to add. :p

I'd just say eliminate it from the array and count it as a bad setup…

Nope, an SL would have posted if it was and marked the thread as "Committed." ;)

We could, but I think it's a cool AI feature. Plus it can be written so the user can always choose. I liked NCDS's idea of an "Advanced Features" button on the form, where the user can edit things like FLAG_TOLERANCE and things like that. We could pretty much put anything there honestly.

My post was also intended as a bump :)

I'd also like Advanced Features tab. And later a tab for Extras / Plugins

MSI doesn't check if you can mine the ore you are attempting to mine

I've got a few things to add after work so I can do this then too. I thought for sure it had already been done.

Cool.

I'm thinking of adding something to check how many rocks have been stolen, to decide whether to change world or not.

I've speeded up TrackObject a bit, and still looking at it.

And I've also added the 'no ore' check, which has saved a couple attempts already :)

I'll need to setup git, but that's on the way… no need to do it till I actually have something proper to branch :)

I read through this thread (http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=61747) and no one suggested to check if the InvCount has increased over a certain period of time. If it hasn't increased switch worlds.

We do an invcount check every 30 seconds in the fishing procedure, but I don't think it's implemented in mining/woodcutting.

It is for mining for sure, and used to be in Woodcutting. I'm not sure if it was included when we switched to animations.

E: RM, this is now committed to my repository. I need to test it more before pushing to main. I don't have any accounts to really test it with as they all have high skill levels. Click here for details.
