Got Reported.. Should I be worried?

final_result

I was reported while botting at Wizard's Tower after ignoring someone's inquiries about whether I was a bot or not, I returned to my computer and had a short dialogue with the person who reported with me explaining why I wasn't botting.

Should I be overly concerned? After that I logged out and now I'm resuming to play legitimately on this particular account, or should I just lay off this account for a while instead?

Thanks for taking your time with this inquiry, any suggestions/tips are welcome.

I wouldn't care about 1 report, in many games 1 report won't do anything and usually you need to get reported multiple times by multiple people.

As for people talking to you while botting you could tell them that you had public chat off, jagex can't ban you for being anti social now can they? ;)

Personally I would keep on botting but that's me and who knows how jagex ban mechanisms work, some people bot 24/7 and never get banned while some people get banned very easily.

You are now officially flagged. Just play legit for a week or two or so and you'll be fine.
Really, getting reported turns all kinds of warning errors on and will actually cause the macro detection system to look at you. So be careful.
Like 90% of my bans were after reports.

Yea, I responded to the other person telling him that I had public chat off, but he also told his friend to report me which makes two reports against me. I might take some time off on this account as well… it's pretty far already :P

Question, I read some time ago that the RS client had mouse/keyboard recording if flagged/reported or something, if that's true wouldn't it be possible to hook/nop the functions (don't know if that's possible in java), I remember that the bot Aryan alerted the user if he got flagged, I once got flagged on a lvl3 picking flax and it never got banned even though I had been picking up flax while flagged for several hours..

Thanks for the info Markus, I'm now afking :P Against the rules as well, but better than getting banned or wasting my time *actually playing*.

Jagex does do a very bad job with bot detection :P I just don't want to take the chance though… I mostly bot overnight so I have no idea how many times I've been flagged, this is just one time I've observed.

Yes, all your accounts linked to your ip will be permanent banned for life.

Don't play on the account for a few weeks or just play legit a bit, go around and talk with people. To be safe, if you're worried.

I was being sarcastic as this is one of the common questions that anyone can either google, or type it in the 'search' button.

The question of being banned should come to the top of your head when downloading the bot, as anything thats a 3rd party is bannable.

I feel like everyone and there mother is being reported for botting these days.. I get called a bot when i play legit >.< I wouldn't worry about it. But if you are that worried do what everyone is saying above :p

@Squancy I run srl only and my brother uses rsbot and he gets rolled back and banned all the time. Oh yeah and we share an IP. I've only lost one account using srl but that was for using harry's cave fighter to max out cmb.. and that war around 3 years ago! :D

Aryan did that indeed, Jagex solution: client-side flag everyone.

Yes I realize that I do incur the risk of being banned and of course I wouldn't freak out of anything if I was banned. I just wanted to know how serious Jagex takes reports for macroing and how serious I should take it, which has been answered quite adequately, thanks.

No need to rage. My intentions on my post's are directed to the public so the next time someone uses the 'search' button they can fall out on this post.

I just used you as an example.

IMO they've been saving up the bans for a *MASS BAN OMGEZUS* type of hype once they release the wildy update.

RISK

2011-01-10 12:01:55

They would NEVER do that! I bet they LOLROLL everyone except the suck-ups back to level 1 / 10 (For HP) and then they'll go "It was needed to stabilize the market of RuneScape to ensure RuneScape stays a RWT free game. This was a strategical move planned many years ago when we originally removed freedom of speech, we mean, free trading and the wilderness. We knew all of this would happen and thus we are finally truly getting rid of RWT for about another month."

I find my idea much more likely, here is why

The prospect of this is ideal for Jagex because they have been praising their 'new anticheat technology' since this update was announced. They have been hinting at a huge mass ban for a while now, so it will be extremely likely that they've simply been saving up all of their bans for one massive ban because nobody here has been banned (afaik) for a long time. It would make Jagex look much more impressive when they make an announcement saying they've banned 100 000 bots at once rather than saying they banned 100 bots a week for the last million months. (random made up numbers which obviously make no sense)

Find a mod, add him to your friends list.

Tell him that the guy was bugging you and you were ignoring him so he reported you for botting. Or like you did say pub chat was off. Tell him you are worried blah blah. Make a lot of dialogue.

Ive found that as soon as I added mods to my freinds list the amount of random a i got plummeted.

When i started botting again my account was inactive for about 8 months, so I think i was automatically flagged because I was getting a random about every 45 min. As soon as I added a mod, dropped to 1 every 4-5 hrs, which is normal for consistent play. I now how 3 mods on my friends list and haven't gotten a random since (2 days) >.>

I figure that they think we want to keep as far away from mods as we can, so why not pull them close and hide in their shadow? ;)

Interesting and very smart haha. I like it.

I wouldn't be too worried about it too much final. I've been using lesser tower as well and i've stopped it multiple times to keep from getting reported.. Very annoying. For as great of an idea it is, its really dangerous because of the random people that show up and you are all isolated from a crowd. I know that some people use "I REPORTED YOU" and never do anything… But who knows? Best thing to do is legit or quit for a bit =D

Agreed, I usually talk to people while the bot runs every once in a while, never been banned on any of my many many soldiers, though I haven't been around in months :P I'll press my luck and see if any get banned now

IMHO Reporting invokes the banning mechanism. If your logs (the last minute since reporting) are botlike, you will be banned.

Ran across one on RSBot the other day, I'll see if I can dig it up.

Also, I'm pretty sure I was reported today. I was spammed with Evil Bob, Drill Demon, Frogs, and Maze within an hour and a half :0. Succeeded at em all (maze was done manually), so hopefully they stop soon.

EDIT: Got it. A list of 952 known Mods and PMods.

Not sure, just noticed you were asking about one ;)

I guess you could add a couple of them and say something to the effect of "hey saw you earlier and noticed you were a mod, wanted to say hi." Out of 952, I'm sure at least a couple of them would be willing to strike up a conversation, and having a mod as a friend makes you look exponentially less suspicious when the great eye of Jagex looks your way.

Yeah I think so too, because getting reported for offensive language would show a log of the past minute or so conversation, therefore I assume it would be similar to macroing.

KingKong

2011-02-13 05:18:03

I don't think that works anymore, or jagex doesn't give a damn about the reports, because I reported a guy(obviously a bot) like 10-20 times every day for a week, and the bot is still in the same spot doing the same thing.
