Simba 0.95 Release Candidate: http://simba.villavu.com/bin/Release/0.95rc/

Once it is has been tested a bit (and possible required fixes have been applied), I will release 0.96. (As I have already tagged 0.95 in git…)

You'll mainly want to test this if:
  • You want to try the new Socket System
  • You want to try the new GetProc/FindWindow functionality.
  • You want to test the new updaters (including MSI updater)
  • You want to see if the "could not create thread; code 8" error is gone. (Note that we didn't actually change anything in Simba for this, but the error was probably in the Simba 750 build)
  • You want to try the new plugin functionality.
  • You just generally want to see another Simba release soon. :D

Try the new functionality, run a (MSI) script with it. See how it goes.

Run Simba (0.95rc) and look in the Sockets section in the function list.

Awesome! :)

This is amazing! I can go MSI > Run and BAM! the form pops up. Exactly like I wanted, thanks guys! :)

The "could not create thread; code 8" seems to be gone (I can't recreate it at least), so that's good. I also notice you changed the ShowWindow windows. :p

E: Oh, one thing about the MSI extension, when you go MSI > Run and RunMe.simba is already open, it opens another one. Could just make it run the one that's open, but it's not really a huge deal.

Shouldn't you have a program to generate the wrappers for you?

Not if you want to do them properly. But there aren't really more wrappers to write since most of the functionality added is already in Python.

I understand you want a nice python-esque wrapper for it that can't be auto-generated. But I'd also have a set of automatically updated wrappers generated by a utility. That way python development doesn't always lag behind. (perhaps base the python-esque wrappers on the auto-generated ones?)

Thing is, do you also want to generate libMML automatically? Because that's 100% hand written at the moment. Mainly because of the fiddling with Pascal Arrays and plain pointers.

Nooooooooopppeeee Code 8 still happens :(

Sorry

By the way, as Wizzup? said, libMML and pyMML is all hand-written, and I'm fine with it when I'm not busy with real life stuff, and I'd rather hand write it, personally, but that's just because I would like to know all of the functions and their params.

And there are a number of functions that shouldn't/can't be auto generated. Especially now, I think. (A lot of what is done so far could've been automated, but I don't know if dtm/bmp/ocr stuff can/should.)

I didn't know that, but in that case, why not just automatically generate it all? If I have time in the near future I'll have a look at it to get an idea if it's feasible. I'd think it'd be even better that way, because surely you handle pointers and arrays the same each and every time, and it would remove the human error potential if a program generated it. If I wrote it, it would probably be a python script doing the generating. :)

This is obviously a person who has never used PHP, and doesn't know what a horrible language it is… (I have used and currently use PHP a lot, and I hate every second of it ;))

Frement is extremely experienced with PHP ;)

I've never met anyone experienced with PHP that actually likes it before. :)

Maybe he has never used anything else?

If I recall, it is a boring language and that makes it a masochist's dream come true language. Maybe Frement is a masochist?

I'm kidding, Frement.

Well, I have used python for example, but I still like PHP more! :) Maybe I'm just weird.

There's nothing wrong with PHP if you use it correctly and it would be a great addition to Simba, but Python is a bit easier to implement in FPC ;)

Let's get back on topic, folks!
