BugTracker for Bugs/Problems/Suggestions/etc.

When I get bored, I like to work on SMART. I'm not really bored that often, BUT when I am, I like to know what could use some fixing / tweaking. So I set up a bug report system (mantis, you might be familiar with it) at http://bland.no-ip.org/bugs/ so feel free to keep me updated with things that need fixing / suggestions. And remember, the repos are at http://blanddns.no-ip.org:81/repos/public-smart/

tl;dr - post bugs at the bug tracker, not in this thread: http://bland.no-ip.org/bugs/

I noticed a difference between SMART and other plugins compiled with FPC:
~/simba$ file plugins/i386-win32/*
plugins/i386-win32/irokiplugin.dll: PE32 executable for MS Windows (DLL) (console) Intel 80386 32-bit
plugins/i386-win32/libsmart.dll: PE32 executable for MS Windows (DLL) (GUI) Intel 80386 32-bit
plugins/i386-win32/skyplugin.dll: PE32 executable for MS Windows (DLL) (console) Intel 80386 32-bit

It shows up as 'GUI' instead of 'console', I did a quick google, and recompiled with this flag:

-Wl,–subsystem,console

(reference: http://alleg.sourceforge.net/stabledocs/en/build/mingw32.html#Compiling%20manually%20with%20MinGW)

And now it looks right:
~/simba$ file plugins/i386-win32/*
plugins/i386-win32/irokiplugin.dll: PE32 executable for MS Windows (DLL) (console) Intel 80386 32-bit
plugins/i386-win32/libsmart.dll: PE32 executable for MS Windows (DLL) (console) Intel 80386 32-bit
plugins/i386-win32/skyplugin.dll: PE32 executable for MS Windows (DLL) (console) Intel 80386 32-bit

(same flag works for 64-bit windows)

I tested it with wine and your test app on 32 and 64 bit, and it worked the same. So perhaps you should add that to the makefile? I'm sure it's nothing important though.

That difference actually has no effect on a DLL (since DLL's aren't, strictly speaking, executables anyway). That flag just effects which events are sent to the event queue, and a DLL itself doesn't accept any events anyway, the parent program does, so I'm just going to leave it the way it is, since there aren't any problems with it now.

Also, in case you missed it, i made a bug report system at http://bland.no-ip.org/bugs/ ;) (I'll actually get notified this way, instead of having to check)

Maybe remove server?

Why are you all missing the point that I MADE A BUG TRACKER. In other words, DON'T POST HERE. Also, IceFire, for the love of god, realize that SetupSmartEx is NOT a method in SMART its a method in SRL, i.e. I didn't write it nor do I maintain it.

Well… considering I haven't received a confirmation e-mail yet to activate my account, I'd say that's pretty hard… (been waiting 10+ minutes) ;D

Why not just subscribe to this thread if you want to be notified? :S

Edit: Almost been 12 hours since I registered, still no confirmation e-mail o_O

Haha, must we also register an account to report that glitch?
Sorry, but I had to say it :).

Might help to change the title of the thread to SMART Bug Tracker then.

It just seems likes there ought to be a better way to initiate SMART, but we'll discuss that on the bug tracker

Might help to READ the first post. At least the first two sentences. I mean, seriously.

Also, even though you clearly cannot read or have major comprehension problems, the SetupSmartEx method IS NOT part of SMART. The SmartSetup method is, and all of those arguments are required (in fact, that is the minimum required) for SMART to function.

@Daniel I requested it send you another email, but check your spam bucket just in case.

Why the hostility? Often there's a problem when SMART loads because it doesn't like the server number. This isn't exactly something you can fix include/script side because once it doesn't work the only way to make it work is to go in manually to the code change something and rerun it. Obviously SetUpSmartEx is not a part of smart, but method rely heavily on one that is (SmartSetUp).

If you don't think its possible or a ridiculous idea then you can tell me in a civil manner like a grown adult. For the record, never did you say in your first post that you didn't want anyone posting suggestions in the thread, and I did it to bring it to your attention, not to demand for a fix. So calm down buddy.

I'm sorry but I have to post this. I agree with BanLand100 on this.. He clearly says in his first post that further bugs should be posted in that bug tracker, and then you post a bug about SRL in a SMART related thread? It doesn't look like SMART has anything to do with this problem at all (Even though SetupSmart requires a world number, this is still a SRL problem), and you even said in your post that the problem is in SetupSmartEx.

I agree that BenLand100 didn't have to step out of the line, but I'd do that too if I were him… It's like you're trying to make him pissed on you…

Edit: And he did actually tell you in a civil manner like a grown adult.. Just read post #5. And what you posted (as you refer to as a suggestion) is not a suggestion. It's more of like a spam post.

Edit2: And he also said in post #3 that the whole point of this thread was that further bugs should be posted on mantis instead of here.

You should be able to. Some try/excepts should be able to fix it. Personally, I think it's more of a SRL/Simba thing to worry about; SMART does what it does and that's it.

If you had looked at the code, you would know that the problem you are "reporting" has nothing to do with SMART and rather has to do with how SRL is using SMART. This is *exactly* the kind of thing you can fix on the include side. If its so obvious, why not try to appreciate what IS obvious about it.

For the record, if you have problems with implicit information, then perhaps you should take a basic english refresher course somewhere before you post again? Regardless, stop trolling my threads, you'll just end up looking silly. So calm down buddy.

Asking a question in the wrong place is somehow malicious? I have no problem with people stepping out of line, so given there is a reason. I didn't really see the response appropriate for what happened, but that's just my opinion. Funny how everyone has something to say whenever I try and ask Ben something. Though I'm really curious why you think asking a question is somehow trying to piss him off?

Bahaha, you have a terrible nack of posting where it doesn't concern you. I believe one of the agreements of RAM mercifully allowing you to return to SRL was that you be undetected (as in no ones knows who you are) I think maybe we should fix this and ban you again so you make a clean account?

Posting encyclopedia dramatica isn't trolling right?

Lol I'm going to fix bad server numbers with Try's and Excepts', bahahahaha.

Lol if I looked at the code. I've seen it a dozen times. K, I'm gonna check to see if the SMART window says failed (using GetColor) to load because the world number is bad, use local sockets to talk to another open simba/SCAR and pass a different world number and have it execute on a different server. Then I'm going to use a few try's and excepts just for lulz and have simba close itself. I was curious if somehow you could make SMART change world numbers if the one loading didn't work, still not sure how I'm going to do that script side.

Anyways the only person trolling your threads is you. If you respond maliciously to a question that would otherwise be answered maturely by a level headed guy then you wouldn't get me stirring up a storm.

Sorry bud that doesn't solve anything. All you did was change the server to world 1. Which is just as susceptible to not working as any other world. That and it's probably the slowest to load because it's almost always at maximum usage. Maybe you don't know the exact problem I'm talking about, but that doesn't surprise me.

Gu3st...

FYI, that does solve the problem you reported. I took away the server parameter, and SMART still loads. Problem solved!

"Maybe you don't know the exact problem I'm talking about" Then what is the problem? All you said is that the server is not needed…
Slowest to load? I'm not sure if there is any noticeable difference

"Which is just as susceptible to not working as any other world"… Idk about your, but the SMART I have in my plugins folder loads perfectly well on any world.

Hardly. Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about, and have never experienced the problem with SMART loading like many people on the forums have and had to change the server number (regardless of what number it was previously, even world 1/world2) to get it to load.

No. I meant remove the need for a server to be passed to SMART at all, because regardless of what world you put in there's a chance it doesn't load the one you give it (temporary and/or re-creatable) so I thought I'd inquiry Ben here if it was possible to make SMART chose it's own server and revert to a different one if that one fails (as described multiple times, and explicitly in another post).

But instead there is some reason why everyone decides to be rude.

I don't even understand how that happened, this is really an unimportant suggestion. Life will go on. Jesus, FFS I just wanted to know if he would even consider it. Even a simple "I cbf" would of been fine, but instead there's just what you saw above.

Alright, no offence IceFire, but obviously you have no idea what you're talking about. Seriously.
You told us SmartSetupEx had a parameter that wasn't needed in a thread that has NOTHING TO DO WITH SmartSetupEx and you talked about removing it. Later on you start trolling around after we told you that this was not the thread for it, and when I post a fix for you (which is EXACTLY WHAT YOU REQUESTED FOR) then you tell me that I'm a idiot and have no idea what I'm doing?! I'm offended.

BenLand100 Even posted in the thread that ALL PARAMETERS NEEDED IN SETUPSMART() ARE REQUIRED. Please, for the love and sake of all living things in the whole universe read the thread before posting in it.

The reason why SMART loads a different server than the one you put in SetupSmartEx (which again, is not related to BenLand100 or is something he can do anything about) is (afaik) because of JaGeX' changes to runescape making it load a favorite server or home server or w/e it's doing. EDIT: but this has nothing to do with the original problem either

I'm sorry for the rage and all, I just woke up from a powernap to all this s*1t stuffed up my rectum intesitnum…

Oh, and I just realized that all posts that I have posted in this thread are off-topic… …Well done BenLand100 :) I'll be sure to use it whenever I get an error with SMART(that you can fix)

How long are you going to try and carry this stupid argument? I'll admit maybe saying remove server from SmartSetUpEx was to vague, I amused there that anyone would realize I was talking about remove the need for a server to be passed to SMART, that's my first mistake.

Then I went to say "Well maybe SMART needs a better way to initiate" again I'm assuming that anyone realizes the current issues of SMART, like the server number causing it not to load. That was my second mistake.

But right up until this point (see below quote) I stopped making mistakes, because I realized no one in this thread knew about either of these things, so I started to spell things out.

After reading that, I'm not sure how you somehow thought using world1 was the solution to the problem. I explicitly described what was needed. You humbly abandoned your other argument and put me on the spot as if I'm some 3rd class scripter who can't figure shit out, even though the task at hand isn't one I can solve practically. I even emphasized this by making some sarcastic bullshit idea on how I was going to use local sockets and have more than one simba open at a time. Not really sure how you missed that.

Anyways, I was expecting you actually try and fix it for yourself so you could see exactly how dumb it was for you to try and say I should fix it, by challenging you to do something about it.

Then you completely failed me by putting world1. This is my third mistake, apparently I should have explained it simple enough for a toddler to explain. So that's exactly what I did in my last post (see below quote)

At this point I'm not sure what else to say to you other than pat you on the head.

I'm not going to carry it anymore. You now realize that was a mistake on your part, and you admit it, so there is no real reason why I should carry on with that argument, is there?

Have you EVER looked at the source code @ http://www.runescape.com/game.ws?j=1 ? Do that now.

You see that <frame> there? That's where the runescape client is located on the website. Now look at the webpage it's getting the runescape client from. You see that there is a worldX.runescape.com? Great, now what does that tell you?
It tells me that a world is required to load runescape. Try changing that world to whatever you'd like. In this example I'll use 1. When I log in now I'm still at 169, which surprisingly is my home server!

So what does THIS tell you? this tells you that JaGeX has made the runescape client load a default, home server for you, so no matter what number you put in there (as long as it is one of the runescape worlds) it'll still load the home world.

I'm sorry I actually have to spell it out like this… <_<

You described what? I actually ignored most of that post because of the way you wrote…

I "put you on the spot as if I'm some 3rd class scripter who can't figure shit out" because that's a very effective arguing method.
To be honest, I understood what you meant perfectly. But I ignored it because that's also an effective arguing method (EDIT2: Socratic Irony again…).

The post where I raged in was also a test for you. You failed it though…
When someone starts posting insults/starts raging, laugh at them and be sarcastic.

EDIT: Read about Socratic Irony: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony#Irony_in_use

But I can no longer use myself as an excuse for your lack of understanding because you see, even after you read that I got a nice big pile of irrational ranting from you.

At this point I'm not sure what else to say to you other than pat you on the head.

Good effort, 'MSN> no hard feelings?'

And I hope you find some good pain killer for that rectum intesitnum.
I'm sorry you feel that way. I have, honestly, no hard feelings / no 'irrational ranting' for you at all. I still think you're a good guy

I'm done with this thread now, I'll probably post some more, but I wont be arguing. If you feel that way about me now, then I'm truly sorry I started to argue with you.

I'm not going to carry it anymore. You now realize that was a mistake on your part, and you admit it, so there is no real reason why I should carry on with that argument, is there?

A mistake for thinking too highly of you? I suppose. But, you need to understand that my mistakes aren't responsible for yours, just like the meaning of a word is inherent to it's context.

From: Zyt3x
Have you EVER looked at the source code @ http://www.runescape.com/game.ws?j=1 ? Do that now.

Yea I've looked at the source code, it's not exactly something I've understood to a great extent, because it's never something I've focused on learning, usually of non interest and unnecessary time consumption.

From: Zyt3x

You think I didn't know this? You've still failed to explain how this is relevant to the server not working for what ever reason such as an offline server. It will still fail to load if it doesn't like the server number. Probably because it isn't relevant.

Ignoring my post would obviously be your fault, and some how you are saying it's mine because you didn't read it at all? Explain that one.

Intentional illogical fallacies now? Intentional ranting to test me. And yet you call me a troll. I think you need to learn what a troll is, because that pretty well fits the definition, though, I do not think you're trying to troll. You just are caught in your own mistakes and did things you regret and think you can cover them by saying you meant to all along.

I don't think you do either, but you have regret your trying to hide from yourself or me or something. I don't feel one way or another about most people.

I wish I was "done with this thread now" but unfortunately it isn't that simple and saying that wouldn't be true anyways.

Unless you want there to be then there are no hard feelings, so I really wouldn't be to worried about arguing with me if you're concerned about hard feelings.

Hardly. Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about, and have never experienced the problem with SMART loading like many people on the forums have and had to change the server number (regardless of what number it was previously, even world 1/world2) to get it to load.

The problem is you don't understand what the problem is, but you are convinced you do. Runescape doesn't load because the arguments passed to SMART are invalid, and the source of those invalid arguments are the source of your problem. SMART will only load a page with an applet definition — that is defined behavior. It is *your* (i.e. the programmer's) responsibility to provide such an address.

From: IceFire908
ROFL, K. Find where in this thread where I intended to be hostile towards you. If you quote me replying to you over exaggerating to a simply question I asked then you proved my point, though you kinda already did with that last sentence :o

Look up the word exacerbate, google says "Make (a problem, bad situation, or negative feeling) worse" i.e., when you were wrong the first time on both the nature of the problem and posting it here, you continued and continue to push forwards. You really just need to let this one go.

From: IceFire908
No. I meant remove the need for a server to be passed to SMART at all, because regardless of what world you put in there's a chance it doesn't load the one you give it (temporary and/or re-creatable) so I thought I'd inquiry Ben here if it was possible to make SMART chose it's own server and revert to a different one if that one fails (as described multiple times, and explicitly in another post)

So, you want me to hard code a loading method and/or servers into SMART so that it breaks every time jagex changes as opposed to letting the programmer pass an applet definition page to it? That was the *old* system that was replaced with the new one. Reverting will fix none of your "problem" even if your problem had to do with SMART, which it doesn't.

tl;dr IceFire908, you are, in fact, "done with this thread now" so please, stop arguing. Further argument in this thread about your misconstruction of a problem, the topic, and/or potential solutions will be treated as spam and dealt with appropriately.

I signed up for your bug tracker, and actually got the confirmation letter. So except some more suggestions in the near future.

Edit: When you close something or whatever you're doing to remove it from the view issues tab might make it harder for people to look to see if something has already been asked/ fixed or whatever.

Wizzup?

I think you just have to adjust your filter with mantis in that case.

@lordsaturn I asked it to send another email — idk why its all annoying about this, it worked fine when i was testing >.>

It's actually pretty tricky setting up an outgoing mail server that the main webmail services (hotmail, gmail, etc) will actually receive mail from. Make sure you have a proper SPF record set, and also, if at all possible, a valid reverse DNS pointer. Before I did all of that, and even for awhile afterward, hotmail in particular was just trashing all mail from my server, not putting it in the 'spam' can or anything, just flat out not delivering it. Good luck.

I cheated and used my ISP's smtp server :D

[php][0:00:02]: Setting up MSI took 297 ms.
No SRL update / Plugins update available!
[0:00:10]: SRL Compiled in 16 msec

Everything runs as normal, but smart just wont actually open, I reset my computer and I don't know the problem. It just started happening as I updated my plugin's I am pretty sure. I am currently using SMART V6.5 I am pretty sure :)

any help would be greatly appreciated

Same here, but for me it actually loads up…after a painful amount of time. Seems to me more like an error on SRL's end, because worked fine before the last updates. But I can't be sure since I'm not using SVN anymore…

LOL, I'm an idiot. I read through the whole thread and was laughing about how everything suddenly got OT here and the fact that people still post their bugs here. Now suddenly when I ran into a bug, I came here read the post just before me and forgot the whole point of this thread and sort of reported the bug here.

Btw, I didn't even think of it as a bug-report, it was more or less a confirmation that there's something wrong :p
