Welp, I'm making a defense pure that I'm probably going to sell on sythe at around 75 defense.

But I had a thought of trying out some dueling when it comes back; with the dragonfire shield and a poison ++ bone dagger. How do you think it would perform in terms of win-rates? I mean it would be bloody slow; but not many people would actually effectively hurt it by any means.

The combat I'd think would be around 30-34 with 60 constitution and 75 defense.

I really hope people are still aware of old-school famous people. Do people still know who Zezima is? :p

Most people stake under stringent rules (I assume you're talking about when free trade comes back?)

I've never paid attention to famous people, never cared. I've played this game since 2005 and you could probably list off dozens of famous RSers and wouldn't know jack about them. But that's not the point of the thread is it?

Stakes and only stakes. And yes when free trade comes back; doubt I'd reach it before then.

Defil3d was really the first person to make a legitimate defence pure and do something with it, afaik.

Look up her old videos and see how she did. It is related to the thread, by the way.

Totally true, you can steal ideas off of her and use it in your advantage. IMO Defence pures rock because of the fact they cannot be touched. Good choice.

Edit - And if you want to stake, you might have a problem, as people do not like challenging people with defence, especially at a low level.

Pretend to be a mauler. Wield iron scim and full iron + str ammy or something. With obby cape. ;) They usually won't think twice.

Well the idea is the same for all def pures. :p Just look up "Def pure pvp" or "Def pure pk" or something.

Just want to point out that those are cherry picked. And that he fought a bunch of noobs. Things totally change when staking comes into play.

Also I have a feeling I would never, ever get a decent stake with something like that; unless the odds were really against me (45 VS 138!)

I also don't have the patience for summoning and defense ;p

I have, but they don't always. There are a lot of stupid people.

Also, it's not just black and white. There are people who will always look up stats, sure. But there are also people who won't ever, because they're cocky, and some who will sometimes. Maybe they're feeling confident because they won the past ten duels or something.

It's worth a shot, and it's cool if you don't duel. And you could just level mage/range and be a tank, like defil3d did.

The BEST staker I ever saw had the following stats:

Attack: 60
Strength: 90
Hitpoints: 99
Def: 1
Prayer:1
Magic:94
Range:90+ (not sure exactly..)

He no armour, right-hand dueled with only melee. He dominated everyone. He was a friend of mine and he had so many phat sets etc, it was insane.

A staker usually has very high Defence.

Well for the level that you hit 75 defense you will be able to do very very significant damage with the dragonfire shield; anyone near your level won't be able to touch you, and poison will rip through their HP.

It's effective, and it's a playstyle thing.

I forgot that the dragonfire shield has an attack. I understand the point, I just believe there are better options ;)

A staker usually has very high Defence.

Nah man, it depends on what kind of stakes you want to do. In general, the only common feature among stakers is 1 prayer. *typically*

I'm 60 attack, 99 strength, 88 hp, 35 pray working on 43, 1 def, 71 range, and 37 mage. You think I can make a good staker?
