Why is everything crashing?

With rares, isn't the limited supply and an increase in demand good?

Shouldn't the prices skyrocket because of this potential 'inflation', as money will become more common?

What's going on

And reason is becuase a lot of items will not be used in new wilderness so that what changes up the whole market!

i picked an amazing time to get 99 cooking. Raw sharks are staying at a decent price, while cooked sharks are rising. I'll be cycling through around 18k sharks to seal up 99 cooking, pm me if you want to buy them (I usually sell for 200 above market each, I'll sell it to you guys for 100 above market each) pm me and if you're someone i trust/know/like/want to kiss their ass, I'll meet up with you to sell.

What's going on

Rares are crashing because
1. As someone said earlier, junk is worthless, so a lot of people want to get rid of their junk and are selling rares for cheap so they can get rid of their junk.
2. Also, a lot of people will be reviving there old accounts with rares on them because with free trade, they can consolidate their wealth on one central account.

However, I don't know why godswords and claws are crashing though, that doesn't really make sense, however, barrows and other high level armors are crashing because Jagex (a leak confirmed this) have hinted at releasing new armor in the future that will boost hitpoints, which obviously will be worth more than the current armors available.

"back in the day" I ran law runes for 'TheHate' when his runecrafting was in the 80's. Spent weeks running for him. Brought a green mask for 800k. Blue for 1m and red for 1.2m. Logged in the account today (over 1000 days since last login) and they are still there! :D

The reason all the rares are crashing is because nobody really knows what will happen with the prices when free trade returns. The introduction of the trade limits and GE really boosted the price of most rares, the street price for some became multiple times more than before. Many people fear that, after the free trade returns, the prices will return to their original value, which would be a huge loss. So they all try to sell their rares. Huge increase in supply, meaning crashing prices.

The prices on everything only raised so high because everything bloated up in price. Since rares always reflect the price of everything else, rares had an exponential increase in value.

Well yes, if prices on rares are controlled and given upper and lower limits, they will steadily rise because of the inflation. Supply will almost always be lower than demand for rares, in normal situations, which adds to the natural price change. But then when something unnatural happens, like the re-introduction of a new economy system, things get all shaken up. Everyone is just worried they're going to have to sell their rares for too low. And by being scared and selling, they are actually causing the price drop they are so afraid of.

Thats what happens most of the time, even in irl, people cause the very thing they fear will happen.

I swear, if a rare goes down to 5-20m, I will buy it, despite the fact that there crashing, I mean seriously, will they get any lower? Plus, they don't realize, if they all keep their rares and actually not lower the price when Free Trade comes back.

Well, I'm keeping my green h'ween mask, even thought it is now only 80m, and keeps falling. I'm looking to buy other rares if they drop also.

IMO, Rares are dropping as old players come back due to the update, and PVP things (lobs, claws, etc.) are not right now, but WILL deflate at an alarming rate when the wildy comes back and everyones like shit, I need my pvp stuff.

Claws will actually go down in price since no claws will leave the game. In current wilderness the chances are getting your opponents claws are pretty low.

Basically all weapons and armour commonly used in PKing will see a short lived, but very big spike as the initial rush of PKers (new and older ones) rush to buy all their supplies. After that expect a crash, a very hard one.

Everything else will be topsy turny for a month or two as the market adjusts to free trade.

I can't wait for green h'masks to come back to 30mil so I can buy one again :) (can't believe I sold it like 13 months ago for that :/)

This crash is what I anticipated and have been waiting for :)

I had all masks and 1 santa hat. Now I can't buy any of them :( The prices need to crash more!

yeah the costs of all goods pretty much need to drop, the rsgp is too weak compared to items :( (30 mil use to be a big deal.. now it is nothing :/)

What we have is an economy with too much GP and too little items. Fix either side and it will just werk.

I think it's good that the prices of combat items go down, as long as items that people gather for money, such as essence or ores or logs, either stay still or rise in price. That way people are not so afraid to loose their items and there will be more exciting pvp, not just 1 item strength pures.
