Thought I might make an into thread since I may start contributing a little bit here. I intend to submit a script I've been working and get into the cool peoples club. As you can see I signed up quite a while ago, I've been scripting on and off for years, mainly runescape…I actually first started learning to script by making an old school color based fletching macro in VBscript, I even had a half-working magic logger made in VBscript, but it was really crude and probably detectable as hell, though they never banned me. When I first signed up here scripting with SCAR in Pascal was way over my head, but it was a lot easier after studying a few different languages. I moved onto VB from VBscript, then I got into web development (X/HTML, CSS, SQL and a bit of PHP). After that is when I decided to come back and try scripting with Pascal again. I must say the SRL library is absolutely delicious, and makes botting RS so much easier, some of the tuts here are great too. I'm not a super experienced programmer, but hopefully I can make some decent contributions here.

Welcome :) When I first got into Pascal, I had no idea how even variables work, but after many hours of chatting with Pentti (I don't know if hes around anymore) I finally understood bits and bits, and after that, it has been easier and easier. Understand the basics, and your one step closer to the cool peoples club :P

Well I definitely understand the basics. I don't know if you can answer, but I had a question about a walking method I'm using. Put simply, it uses the word map and markers to find locations and walk to them. Open the map -> Find DMT of location -> Apply marker -> close map -> follow blue array in minimap by clicking on it periodically -> location found when blue arrow reaches center of minimap

Quite a simple method, and yes it can walk you into buildings accidentally (though it is brief), but you always reach the destination one way or another. My question is, has this been tried? If not, how detectable do you think it might be?

Well, this has been discussed quite alot, and in my opinion its a bad method, better just use RadialRoadWalk or something (I'm not quite sure how walking with color is done these days, I used RRW when I made my first walking script).

Welcome :D If I may, I recommend Coh3n's All-In-One SCAR Scripting Tutorial. It was made to revolve around SCAR, but the same concepts apply in Simba. It's very easy to read and understand. It's how i learned, and it took me about 1.5 months to get into the kkk (Kewl Kidz Klub :p).

Well I haven't actually tried that method or really learnt it properly, It seems that method is quite susceptible to fault though. I'm looking for something that will last long periods of time without fail, something robust and easy to work with, also something that wont be easily flawed with minor updates to RS. This is for a woodcutting script though, and it seems to me constant opening and closing of the world map to set markers for such close locations is a bit suss. The map marker method seems to work really well for me though, and the implementation is quite simplistic, I use this function to walk to the bank and back:

function WalkToLoc(place: String): Boolean;
var
MarkerSet: Boolean;
begin
try
if (not LoggedIn) then Exit;
WriteLn('Walking to '+place);
case place of
'bank': MarkerSet := SetMapMarker(BankIcon_DTM, (BankLoc.x - 50), (BankLoc.y] - 50), (BankLoc.x + 50), (BankLoc.y] + 50));
'trees': MarkerSet := SetMapMarker(ChopSpot_DTM, (TreeLoc.x - 50), (TreeLoc.y] - 50), (TreeLoc.x + 50), (TreeLoc.y + 50));
end;
if MarkerSet then
begin
MakeRun;
if FollowTheBlueArrow then
begin
Mouse(540, 140, 10, 10, False);
if ChooseOption('Clear') then
begin
WriteLn(place+' found.');
result := True;
end;
end;
end;
except
WriteLn('ERROR: There was an error walking to the '+place);
end;
end;

To walk to the bank is as simple as WalkToLoc('Bank'); With the SetMapMarker I just supply the DMT and a rectangular area of the map I'm looking in (obviously it moves the map to the right area first if it isn't correct). ChopSpot_DTM is dynamically assigned a value according to the current players settings, which are set in the GUI. Here's a teaser pic:

Ahh, I read that one a while ago. Thanks for the welcome and advice though.

Welcome to SRL!

Yes, WorldMapWalking has been discussed rather heavily, especially for MSI lately as were trying to get a stable one implemented to use to switch from location to location. You should check things out. :)

Also, you should try using TPA's to walk via MiniMap. Great method, honestly, and as well as my method of choice.
