Okay, so right now my internet connection is (when plugged in directly) 100 kbps which seems extremely slow for everything I do; however, my dad says that thats the best he can get for a low cost. Right now we are using Road Runner. Does anyone else think this is really slow even if it is "cheap"?

I think thats pretty slow, thats about 2x faster than dialup i guess. I'd rather spend a few more bucks and get a faster speed. But it depends what you need the net for.

RoadRunner's lowest packages are not that slow, as far as I know. Get a real router (RR support should give you one for free), and have them run line-tests on it.

Internet sticks are a fair option for low budget, if you're on HSPA+ area.
For example I have a HSPA+ stick and I get speeds from 2Mbps to 8Mbps for only 13,90€ :)
That's in Finland where here are only 3 teleoperators, If you're from US you'll probably have more options and therefore even cheaper prices.
That is quite slow….100 kbits or kbytes per sec? Either way, still very slow :p.
