What would you like to see added to MSI's progress reports?

I realized just now that we really don't keep track of things that other scripts do. I also realized that we could very easily keep track of basically everything. So I'm asking you: What would you like to see added to MSI's progress report?
  1. Ores/Trees/Fish/etc. per hour.
  2. Total breaking time.
  3. Players that are still active.
  4. Show whether it's using Reflection or Color.
  5. A totals report for each player.
  6. Total GP gained.

  7. {---------------------------------------}
    { MSI Short Report }
    {---------------------------------------}
    { Nick | Time | Loads | Produce }
    {---------------------------------------}
    { oh3 | 10:25:31 | 999 | 10,954 }
    {---------------------------------------}
    {---------------------------------------}
These don't have to have anything to do with the players, but even if you wanted to see something about the script kept track of: antibans, successful walks, I don't know. :p

Post away!

no, multiply that by 93.

Then sometimes when Coh3n commits something he commits out Cleardebug; and relize it 12 hours later when my debug is moving through 1 proggie per 10 seconds.

I already asked to have it Horizontal but it seems its too hard to do.

i would like to see something liks this:

----------------TOTAL TIME---------
Player 1 TIME LOADS
Player 2 TIME LOADS
Player 3 TIME LOADS
Player 4 TIME LOADS
etc...

That's basically what I was suggesting.

We can just throw a constant into RunMe.simba,

const
LongDebug = False;

And then figure out a way to put these things onto a condensed report.

The one NCDS posted is the totals. That's as long it would be if you had 5000 players, but I suppose one could be made like you suggest, it just wouldn't be able to be as specific as the longer report because it can't really be done properly horizontally.

Times failed and had to recover would be nice.
Like how many times it had to relocate to its spot. :)

Relocating is used to switch between rocks/trees/etc. in some scripts though.

Not to do with adding anything to the report but seeing a post in here i got a suggestion.

Turn the time stamp off when printing proggies.

Yes Coh3n that would be excellent :) Something i have been waiting for, i may come back to the botting scene, as the only botting i do is Diablo 2

Sounds good. I have a ton of things on my to-do list so I'm not sure when I'll get to it, but I'll add it to the list. :)

Maybe a cool sat could be to get info from a sever and it says you cut 100 yew logs while you did this msi cut 500 yew logs from 4 players

Sorry, didn't understand that at all. :p Could you rephrase that please?

Troll

Sorry i was in a rush :p My idea was that all scirpts conncet to a sever when they finish. Because when they start they mark the time. So when the scirpt prints the proggy it conncets to a sever and gets how of what has been happening. < badly phrase

Umm example

Scirpt starts
ProggyStartTimer := GetTime or marktime

Do stuff

Scirpt ending
Goes to sever 'Hey ive been fishing lobsters, i fished 200 just to let you update, also since ProggyStartTime how many lobsters has people useing MSI fished'
Then in proggy

In the time this scirpt has been running MSI fished 400 lobster of which you 200 was yours

Can you understand? Im sorry not sure how to word it.

Coh3n

2011-01-12 14:48:08

I think so. You just want it to show the total amount of Lobsters MSI has fished in the time you've run the script, then show how many of that total are yours.

Have you looked at SRL's stats? :rolleyes: It keeps track of everything you've done for every script, including Lobsters Caught. For example, of the 1000+ Coal that MSI has mined, I (Coh3n) have mined 181 Coal. See here.

I know about the sats :) I mean like say you auto for an hour it gets the sats for that hours and prints it in the proggy. Like you run for an hour, fish 100 lobsters and the proggy says in the hour you fished 100 while MSI in total fished 400 in that hour

Sorry for being unclear

Okay yeah that's what I thought you meant. I think if we can somehow get the amounts of variables (from the stats site) on start up, what you're asking could be calculated pretty easily. We would need the variables' values on start up then the values on script terminate. This would also extend the progress report a lot (or a separate one could be made I suppose).

If we allow the GetJSONValue and GetPageEx functions to be used from scripts this would be extremely easy to implement.

I know I promised to devote time to MSI but I've been swamped with COBOL, JAVA, PHP and C#. I've really only been able to peruse through MSI CORE a bit.

I haven't tested the latest MSI, but I would suggest that you add a form tab or a section of a tab devoted to progress report customization.
For example.. ( [ ] = checkbox )

LAYOUT
[ ] Horizontal
[ ] MSI Standard (Default) <– this for a standard you may want for all proggy submissions.

OPTIONAL
[ ] Display SRL Stats <– fetch relevant information from SRL Stats. eg total woodcut.

and from here it can easily be added to or modified by both the user and devs. It also clears up any squabbles that may ensue from different progress report format opinions.

I actually think that's a pretty cool idea. Could have options like "Small", "Detailed", "Very Detailed", stuff like that.

Is the IRC chat mentioned here still active?

It's never really been active to be honest. I used to go in it all the time, but no one ever came so I stopped. :p

Well that sucks. I remember back in 07 before I quite RS, this place used to be loaded with people. Is it me or is the amount of scripters waning?

Is the forum the only way you guys communicate with each other?

Na I talk to quite a few people over MSN. There's also an SRL IRC channel on rizon.net (#srl). There's always quite a few people on there (including myself). :)
