I want to hear everyones opinion on the idea of an addiction to the internet or computers, or other electronic devices (e.g. mobile phones). I personally have gone through periods where I have become semi addicted to the computer, certain games - including runescape - which have caused me to, stay up literally all night playing them, i.e. not sleep.

I currently am going through a minor addiction to SRL, which is seriously screwing me up, it is arguably costing me sleep, I am up late writing code, and then when I decide to go to bed, I realise all these little minor bugs I made, and can't get to sleep because of it.

Anyone have any thoughts on the idea of an addiction to the internet?
Has anyone suffered a gaming or internet addiction, or do I just have an adictive personality?

I get addicted to various Games online and Lately have been spending a lot of time on this site. Mainly fixing up the "How to Auto" Section. I'm happy with how it's coming along so I think it's worth it. Oh and working on a few different Ideas including a new Tut that gonna be huge so it's taking awhile to write.

dont worry, your not on your own,, i have gone through several periods where this has happened, i have stayed up to do little bits of code, or something like creating a charset.
the same has happened with runescape.
i spend almost all my time either on srl or my ipod touch, without either of them, i dont know where i would be

School usually kept it in check, however I don't have school anymore, so….this has basically become my life.

Every school morning, I'm like… I should really go to bed early today. 10:30 comes… 11:00 comes… 11:30 comes… then I finally go to bed. Ya, I'm addicted to the internet / computers too. =/

I can live without internet but it's too boring.

I'm definitely addicted to runescape right now. I've been hoarding all my money (I don't get a whole lot =\) to pay for my next 3 months of members (thus i haven't gone on any real dates with my gf), I've been staying up late working on my GSK or actually playing rs, I've invested money on a Robotz in Disguise bot (freaking awesome bot btw), ignoring hw… yeah, i'm addicted. However, with a recent decline in grades, I've been sticking to just botting recently and only working on scripts in my free time AFTER hw. So i'm making a recovery ;)


Side note: I can't WAIT for my next addiction! (Final Fantasy XIV, christmas :))

The great thing about bots is that you can leave them running over night, which I do,so I can sleep :)

I just use theinternet to procrastinate. I have a huge paper duetomorrow and I havent started

I've been addicted to the internet for about 7 years, lol. But before that I was addicted to Nintendo and Playstation, since I was about 5 years old. Oh well

I don't think I really have an addictive personality….I never really have uncontrolled desires to do certain things over and over again. I do enjoy being on the internet, but the internet here is so slow it's enough to drive you mad; even the none addicted.
