I'd vote Palin, for real.

Really and truly, I would vote for her.

Some of you are facepalming right now and getting ready to flame me, but heres why.

The world is quite boring. It's the same old people insulting each other back and forth, same old people stealing money under peoples eyes, same banksters bailing themselves out and going in vacations with everyones money…etc. I'm really bored of it. Nothing new is happening. I want some comedy.

What if she is elected. That would be HILARIOUS. Ask yourself how comedic life would get if she had control of our nuclear arsenal. Ask yourself how good of a light show it would be. We're going down the crap-hole anyways, lets end it with a bang. Hey, I'm the last guy who wants to be near a nuclear warhead unless I'm near the insta-vaporization area, but it'd totally be worth it in my opinion. I don't think the world will collapse quite to the point of us being tribes again, but it could… and if it did become 'survivor' style, that would suck. No this has nothing to do with 2012 prophecies (though the image below is for a potential laugh, if you have humor left in you).
Do you really want the world to look like The Road? (great movie BTW)
I sure as hell don't want to get to that point. Lets go out with a bang.

Vote Palin. Your sadistic humor side will NOT regret it.

This is exactly why I absolutely hate politics today. Sorry, but you're cancer to me in this aspect. For one to vote for a candidate based on things specifically and completely unrelated to their political beliefs is completely f**king over everything. Politics are one of the best things about the United States nowadays, and lately they've been turning to s**t because nobody actually considers what they're doing. This isn't just humor. People will then think that she's good (people are idiots), and may vote her in again, and then later an equally bad president. The president is srs bsns. Look at what the war on drugs has caused. World Wars, atomic bombs, and biochemical warfare has arose because of certain presidents.

This is not something to f**k around with.

IMO is the honk-for-jesus countries that have no idea what they are voting for. I remember watching a video of some woman going "I'm going to vote for person X", and the interviewer asked the woman "What if your favorite policy about person X" and the woman went "….err….uuuh".
Those are the ones that will screw us over.

The banks own politics and the president anyways.

Democracy = illusion.
Ideally in a society without people bent on filling their pockets at the expense of others, it'd be cool. Hell, communism might work. Though, we're talking planet Earth here. Bringing planet Earth into any uncertainty equation throws out all guesses.

Except taxes and death of course. Oh and maybe life. ;)

EDIT: Maybe I should say humans instead of planet earth. We're truly the *best* species. If there are Aliens out there, we're definitely a prime time TV show.

On a random topic: I don't even know what my own country is (or care). I don't vote… though if I was American I'd vote Ron Paul. He speaks with reason and logic. Of course I don't know all his platform stuff, but hey, he'll audit the fed.

I have always hated Obama from day one.

But i guess its only because im a Republican and i don't believe in sharing the "wealth"

All of these celebrities running for president is funny to me. No one does shit, no one changes nothing. But in reality Obama's administration will be 1000000000x better than palin's will ever be. I mean the reason why McCain lost was because of her. Republicans said it themselves.

Dan Cardin

I dont think it really matters all that much. Republicans are making it really difficult for Democrats to do anything very democraty, so Obama tries to go middle, and everyone hates him now. It will be the exact same thing with next election's republican. Obama hasn't really been that bad of a president, because he hasn't really done all that much. I don't think that palin would really be THAT bad because nobody would let her do any of the crazy shit that she wants (at least i very much hope so). The next president wont be decided on their polititcs, it will be decided on who is more a more attractive candidate (in terms of charisma, speaking, and such).

this.

You'd all be surprised what IS being done in the white house, however, lack of bipartisanship is screwing everybody over. It's the republican's AND the democrat's fault

As for sharing the wealth, Squancy, if you've ever visited cities like Camden or Newark, you'll know how ridiculous the poverty gap is. You have no idea how angry it makes me that some people have so much when pretty much the rest of the world has so god damn little.

I don't think Democracy is an illusion. You vote for something that lies closest to your ideals, and a little bit of power is given to them. That the rest of the world is ignorant / doesn't agree with you is just part of Democracy. If you want be in control then you'll need communism which in most cases (afaik, all) leads to a less free country / world.

I'm not saying that I particularly like Democracy, but I can see some of the advantages. It's not an illusion anyway. You could call freedom an illusion. But then again, that completely depends on how rational you are in your definition of free in the current world. For example, I don't believe in the freedom to kill whoever you dislike. But you can see this as a freedom. I also don't believe in the freedom that hands out guns to every idiot on the planet; but that happens in some countries.

Dan Cardin

i wasn't saying nothing was getting done, but none of the large "Change" was promised is getting done. Just like how none of palin's trying to get rid of taxes and being annoying would actually be accomplished.

:duh: Okay sorry you showed me up there! +1 But I still love Roosevelt!

Edit: Shoulda done research.

"The plan of Reaganomics was not fully realized. Certainly corporate taxes were cut significantly, and personal income taxes in certain tax brackets were cut as well. The wealthiest individuals in the country went from paying about 70% in taxes to approximately 28% in taxes.

However tax rates for people in lower income taxes rose, suggesting that the little guy and poorer people were not benefiting from Reaganomics. With fewer government programs, fewer resources were available to the poor. While some government spending was reduced, deficit spending was significantly increased, in part to help rescue the country from the high oil prices of the late 1970s and recession that existed in the country for at least the first two years of Reagan’s presidency. US debt during Reagan’s presidency increased from about 700 billion to over 3 trillion US Dollars (USD), as various economic crises hit the country, and also as a means of compensation for much lower tax on high income bracket taxpayers."

No one is forcing anyone to buy health insurance, it is just a really good idea to have health insurance these days. If you are talking about the free government insurance, then you also still have a choice as they didn't abolish private insurance. But since your taxes are going to the free government insurance then I suppose you are paying for insurance, even if you yourself don't have any.

I'm not really sure how this relates to freedom. The government has a certain responsibility to look over the population. Not having health insurance is just plain, plain stupid. Forcing everyone to have it doesn't look bad to me. There a lot of things you have to do for the government or else you'll get a fine. Why not say those things restrict your freedom? If I were you, I'd worry about serious freedoms. The freedom to believe whatever you want; the freedom to say whatever you want (doesn't always work with the previous statement).

On topic: Palin just looks like an extreme stupid woman to me. I can't imagine why anyone would want to vote for her. I don't really follow politics but if she is what the republicans are ``bringing'' then I very much hope Obama will win the elections again. It's quite ironic though how Palin does represent republicans in a lot of ways. (Negatives ones, in my eyes)

You should realise that the people who left Europe to later form the U.S. were mainly optimists or people who had seen just about enough of Europe. Most likely this indicates a different mindset. That mindset never really left, I suppose. Personally I think Americans generally are optimistic. Also, I think the system the U.S. uses for voting is rather undemocratic. There are very few parties and "winner gets all". When you get more parties, they'll have to collaborate, discuss certain issues with each other, compensate. And as a person you have more freedom in choosing your favourite party. (If there are 10 different parties, there's a big chance one of them fits your ideals more than say if there are only two parties)

That's where it goes wrong - too. I'll quickly describe the system we use in the Netherlands. There are about 20 parties, ~7 major ones. You vote for a specific party. None of these parties will ever get >50% votes. (Or… well, this hardly ever occurs) So, to get a 50% or more parties will have to collaborate. (There are 150 ``seats'' you need at least 76 ones.)

Usually, the party that got the most votes will try to create/form a goverment - with the help of multiple other parties. They agree on a specific set of decisions - within some limit. The government will then for four years perform it's tasks. It occasionally happens that a party drops out of the government; and then the government falls. (They will no longer have >50%)
Every decision is "polled" amongst these 150 seats. In some cases an idea can get a lot of votes; sometimes even a party in the government can decide to vote against it. (Remember that the opposition maintain all the other seats, although the opposition as a whole usually doesn't agree)

It's a bit more complex than this and there is another "room" with "seats" that decide on ideas that "passed" the room with 150 seats.
So I really made a very simplistic (and probably a bit flawed) description of our system. I really prefer it to the system used in the U.S. though. Personally I think it is a lot more democratic. There's still room for improvement though I can imagine. I'd like to vote in favour of or against specific ideas. So really "creating" my own party out of my own ideas/opinion.
